Happy new year, all!
Kicking the year off in my little Mars Hydro tent with a couple of intriguing new autoflowering selections from the Niagara Seed Bank - oddly enough, it will be cake vs. pie. This diary will chart my adventures growing Cake Stomper ๐ , a strain that features some Mephisto genetics - a breeder who's offerings I've become very much a fan.
"Up to 1m. We took a beautiful Forum stomper mother and hit her with our wedding cake pollen donor. A compact flowering structure is to be expected. Coated with carpets of resin. She will be a great producer of gassy and creamy nuggets even in smaller grow spaces. A great strain for extracts."
Carpets of resin! ๐
I took a different approach to germination this time around and skipped the soaked paper towel method. I soaked the seed overnight in distilled water as usual and then popped the seed directly into a pete plug the next day. I placed the plug into a grow tray containing some PH balanced, filtered water. I placed the tray on top of a seedling heat mat and placed a humidity dome on top of the tray. Seed sprouted within 48 hours and the first root broke through the pete plug about 48 hours after that. I transplanted the seedling into a 4" net pot containing clay pellets yesterday, 6 days after soaking the seed. Light dose of nutes in the rez - EC .3 (180 PPM).
Off we go again!
Thanks for tuning in โ๏ธ
Looking good mate!
How you like Remoโs VeloKelp? Particular kelp beneficial contains ascophyllum kelp and it is reported to work as a biostimulant also can be used as a โnatural PGRโ in higher doses.
TLDR; have you noticed the difference if plants growing more compact and bushy when supplying Kelp?
@Verbalist, Greetings! Funny you should mention the VeloKelp...
I visited my local hydro supply store to refill on nutes the other day and the person I was talking to really discouraged the use of VeloKelp in DWC. She said the potential harm it can cause outweighs any benefits - there's stuff in the mix that can't be absorbed in DWC and the fallout that clings to the roots can attract nats, promote mold/fungus, etc. I'm going to stop using it.
TLDR; to answer your question, no I don't notice the plants growing more compact and bushy using VeloKelp. ๐
