So... I started my grow off on shaky ground... made every mistake you could make for someone that "knew everything" about growing. I was using a yoyo method for everything. Result garden suffered. Wrong Ph, Nut. levels, light levels, light percentages... you name it. Currently entering week three of veg. The garden recovered nicely. I fimmed one plant at 9", others in 2 more days. I have taken some of the huge fan leaves, cleaned ever so gently around bottoms of all 4. Branches are rocketing out on all 4 plants. Multiple bud sites developing. Beginning to see some lemon-yellow color to new growth tips on some plants. My diag. is light burn or Mag. def. reason: plants had been in same solution and nitrogen had decreased. I plan on scrogging at around 18" (plant only height) that will leave me 57" to work with having the light at 20" from ceiling. Should be plenty of room. My light is at 80%. and now 36"

Grow Questions

My garden seems healthy despite me. Guys I'm confused as to what I should do. Plans are to ScrOG at 18" (which I have never done) with a screen that is 3' x 4'. This screen would cover the entire container area plus about 4" over around the edges. Should ScrOG or just let grow?

That's going to be your own personal call. SCROG will if done correctly create a even canopy with lots of mini colas and they should all ripen and finish at the same time. If the screen is to big for the grow space just pin the extra bits to its self and tie it up nice and tight. I'd start to top the plant a bit to get more sites to spread across the screen. Best Of Luck

Lemon Yellow Tips. Genetics, right? I have 4 in RDWC others don't show. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Never browns or curls. She seems happy and has done it since early childhood. I am just curious, as to what is, for future grows? Also, it may turn into a problem later?

It looks like light stress. I run the same light and have mine at 70% power around 18 inches in bud. Was around 28 inches at 50% during veg.

I am new to all indoor. Will these lower sites make it to the netting? Do most who use this technique just Veg until netting is even, switch to flower, defoliate to netting then let them stretch? Or do you LST the top portion until the lowermost branches reach the netting? 😳

This is up to you. If it was my grow I would lollipop the lower branches and growth then weave the new stuff into the SCROG net then flip to flower. It will stretch a bit from there depending on the stain and they all should have the same amount of energy on an even canopy from the grow light assuming its got a nice even PPFD output. ideally you want 95% of the net fill with something. Good Luck!

The canopy, at net level, is very thick. It is day 20 of 🌼 🌻 🌸. How do I defoliate? Lollipop 🍭, heavy, light defoliate? Flying blind... Please help.

Hey buddy. I agree with you, u need to do some defol. It's not a optimal window to do defol in but you'll get away with it. Blindly no no. What you wanna do, is grab a node and do it node by node. Each bud site on the node will have around 3/4 sugar leafs/fan leafs. What you wanna do is go round it and take 1/3 -1/2 stick to more to the 1/3 of fan leafs. Focus mainly around the top and leave allall fan leafs sugar leafs that are at the end and aren't blocking any light. If it's not blocking any light then there is no reason for you to take it. Main reason to defol is to get light to reach the lowest ends of your canopy so there is no need nor call to defol leafs that aren't blocking out light or if you can get away with leaf tucking do so. If u want a more detailed or help in any way feel free to DM me. Good luck.

Hi everyone. I am rdwc w/4 plants near end of flower. This plant has always been unhealthy. However this is a new twist. As I said rdwc, other girl are groovy, so it is what it is but my question is; what is it? Genetics?

a rare plant is pickier than others... not all formulas are as well-balanced as others... sometimes you simply cannot feed them all the same way, but i've done 7 strain runs before with no problems and rarely have to adjust much beyond how environment impacts rate of uptake in roots. I figure 90% or more of the plants i've grown were fine with my standard mix, so a well balanced feed can work on most plants. (120-some plants? still a small sample) if it looked retarded fro get-go (ignoring early blemishes on first few nodes), figure it's something wrong with how it metabolizes things... those plants typically never get right. One of my NL was wrinkly and never quite right, but it was fucked up from sprout.. easy to say genetics there. plant diabetes or something, lol... late in flower you also have senescence... so, on top of what has been going wrong, it goes down hill more easily at this stage... less of a push needed, so to speak. Really see the quality of your feed late in bloom. if it falls apart quickly/easily. that's the mix. so many relativistic factors at play.. track what info you can, if you want to eliminate least likely possibilities.. otherwise, it's just stabbing in the dark unless lucky to run into a homerun.

Hey, have you tried checking the PPFD of your lights? I have been using the app "PPFD Meter" and noticed my lights were way too close, I think that caused some of my yellowing but i'm also still learning. I wouldn't worry too much about the yellowing yet, those plants look pretty healthy to me. Seems like you're doing the right thing, monitoring and tighten up your environment. Best of luck to you...will be following so I can learn from your mistakes before I make them 😁

Hey friend, Congratulations on getting into indoors. First off, AMAZING setup. I did this same type of build around 9 years ago with uniseals & 5 gallon buckets except I did a room conversion with 2 8 plant systems. I do not want to hijack this diary but if you want to see them check out Chronicknowledge42o on youtube ( it is younger 20 something me with not nearly as much knowledge so ignore that aspect XD ) Secondly, Would you be alright with me offering you some pointers to help you out with basic indoor growing info? First off, I know you are in a custom build I do not know how much manipulation of the environment that you have. With that said I will continue, Cannabis plants love heat and humidity. It is the buds that hate it, We can speed up our veg with warmer temps & a bit of humidity in the environment for the leafs to have some foliar intake to back up the smaller roots during this stage of growth. The first 2-3 weeks from seedling life into young plant life it especially helps. Good veg temps are 79-84 MAX all the way through veg & no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. The humidity of 60-70% for the first couple of weeks works great too. The reason we want to keep our temperature gaps within 9 degrees less with lights off, If we expose them to fluctuations larger than that in veg or early flower we cause our plants to stretch a lot which we do not want. Once our plants finish growing vertically by weeks 4-6 of flower with photoperiods & with autoflowers we watch for this by eye, Once it happens we can then open up our temperature gaps between lights on and lights off as now it will send extra energy into the budding process and resin production simulating the ending of the season is nearly here. We can also use light deprivation in the last 2 weeks & cold feed temps the last week before chop to further this process. If you do not know about it yet check out VPD, Vapor pressure deficit and how it relates to growing cannabis. All growers should learn how to use a VPD chart and log their rooms numbers, Grab a thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 62 MAX & a PAR meter if you do not have them to better read your plants and grow to their needs. This equipment also helps us dial our plant to light distance in optimally. If you do not have them grab yourself some sungrip light pulleys to help manage your light to plant distances really effectively. If you want to see how well these work check out my 200 light 7,000 plant diary it made moving all the lights managable lol. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask I am always around to help out friend. Happy growing!

@Wyregrasser, You are very welcome friend, Anytime if you need any help feel free to message me anytime. I will be putting up my tutorial series soon starting with the most basics all the way through. Temperature and environment management is something you will learn and develop to your exact situation where your grow is. Now you have the knowledge of what to look for it is about dialing it in and achieving it however needed for your specific situation :) Keep up the amazing work I will be joining in on the ride for this one!

@LegacyMarketFarm, Thank you for the time and effort of your comment. You and anyone else are always welcome to give tips and suggestions, even critical. No hijack at all. I am going to check out next. My environmental control is just ok. Basement grow (finished AC no heat except space) I have ACInfinity 6" with plenty of vent holes. I can do temp good, Humidity is a challenge. Unfortunately, it is not one sided so I can't just get a de or reg humidifier. Humidity rides with the weather in my basement. I am humid already. I have no CO2 control. And yes, I will get a good feeling for VPD. I am excited about flowering these girls. Again, thank you so much. Growers like yourself have the opportunity and experience to make growing fun for everyone even Newbies like myself. Luckily my first grow has shown me a lot. Wishing you the best!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‡πŸ˜

The plants are looking great despite your efforts to stress them πŸ˜‰. Nah, sounds like you're having fun which is the most important. I'm finally learning to relax a bit. Some of my plants have brown spots and some yellowing and a little clawing but overall they look healthy and it's just been fun so take a deep breath and just play around. I would definitely supercrop if you're thinking of it and scrog. I think it would really help even out the canopy. Like I said just relax, even if you make a mistake or snap a branch you'll learn and shouldn't regret it. I'm going to mainline my dwc grow even though these are only the 2nd plants i've ever really grown because...why not... either way, good luck!
