Planted three more Jack Herer seeds this week.
Since it is my first indoor grow I started out with one testcase, the bigger one on the right in the picture (Northern lights from Sensi Seeds). The two Jacks next to it look happy but. You can already see the difference in the leaves showing two different phenotypes, the one on the left having a bit more pointy leaves.
Had the same problem with the new seeds, the casings that didn't come off. They would again after a few days but it clearly shows something didn't work too well with these sponges. Probably me not putting them deep enough. Two out of three seeds came out. Wanted to grow three plants in my 1.2x1.2 meter tent so I kept one of them and had to discard number four with pain in my hart.
Really struggled with the lighting in the beginning. I started the testcase with a Samsung quantum board 125w I had. Wasn't sure this would work so ordered a cfl 125w 6400k growlamp, apparently perfect for seedlings, and put in a Secret Jardin Daisy reflector. The growshop made a mistake and sent me a 14.000k lamp instead. I needed it now so after a some research to see if this would work I chose to keep it. They said that blue light keeps the plants short so thought that this could be beneficial since Jack Herer could become huge according to Sensi Seeds. It turned out that the plants almost didn't grow in hight, amost no spacing between the new leaves, so changed the lamp after a few weeks to a cfl 6400k. This worked better.
I was hoping to get a good result without investing too much in the whole project. But this light issue gave me stress and frustration so I changed the lighting again after a few weeks to a Mars Hydro FCE 4800. This was a good choise, absolutely love this light and the results are really good.
