Ok, took a couple cycles off and here we grow again. Check the last journal for the hydro vs soil experiment, which easily showed Hydro was the way to go. However it opened another question on whether to casually top vs not topping the plants. So that will be the theme of this run,... to top or not to top, which had the best yield.
Going to do another run of zSkittlez from ILM, seem to be hearty plants with a great fragrance, taste and potency. This time 4 plants, all hydro with DWC Buckets and shooting for a 90-day run total. Fox Farm nutes all the way through, Hydro-Guard for root protection and some Cal Mag for later in the show.
So we are 10-days into this run and we have 3 plants with straw(s) and thriving. One of the plants seems to have caught the root on the side of the rockwool and is not progressing as expected. This is caused by the seed not dropping far enough down in the rockwool, when you place the seed. Be sure you poke the rockwool deep from the top (not piercing) and when you place the seed in (tap root down), you push it deep into this hole. We may be able to save plant 4 with a switch to soil or a transplanted deeper.
