Been a while since last grow...i moved and now i'm going back to soil! i'm also downscaling my grows, my wife doesn't like too many ladies besides her =)
So this time only 4 plants...
White strawberry skunk from strainhunters also known as 'Swiss Erdbeer'
My last grow with strawberry kush got me such nice smoke so i thought swiss erdbeer sounds great..
All 4 seeds germinated, and all look good so far...even i made the mistake to keep them under some cheap light without ventilator for a few days..left them stretchy with quite weak stems...but problem solved and they should be strong soon
I'll go with Green Buzz Liquids from now on...they have their headquarters just like 15min away :) go local!
My new growtent isn't delivered yet...till then i use my small homebox ambient
Moved in the q5w on day 20
Didn't water them for 7 days...
they have some calmag deficency so i sprayed them with pure calmag solution on 2 days...
it seems they got overwatered + heatstress on the roots, that's why they slightly claw and have dropping leaves....it's strange coz they only have a root temp of 20C and only got watered with 1L 1 week ago after repoting
I topped them on day 21 after they got 8 branches
On saturday they got 1L each
Looking ok so far...let's see..
I found the source for the weird 'overwatered' growth:
The Growcontrol soil temperature sensor is broken...on display it says 20°C but it's actually 23°C (doublechecked with 2 other sensors)
So they had way too hot soil since germination which damaged the roots and caused this 'overwatered' growth
They can't be overwatered...i only watered them 1 time this week with 1L for each pot...same last week...pots were very light and earth very dry...leafs stand upwards 24h after watering, so definately no overwatering...
This week i bend down the first 4 long sidebranches(lst) on each plant + cut off all growth on them (mainlining)
i used bad earth, i think roots can't breath properly + i think i have PH issues... experimented with cheap earth...next grow i´ll use the usual earth again...
defoiled and lst'ed them day 33
did some foliar feeding on 2 days...after that they look good again..
i´ll give them another few veg days to grow stronger
again a bad week...seems like watering this earth is completely different then my usual earth...
growth was quite stagnant...
will add another veg week...
I'm not happy...growth is still stunted and i see alot of deficiencies...started to foliar feed them
...slowly getting better...
Need to restart fast with quality soil, so i switched to 12/12
2nd week of flower and stretch is in full effect...the ones on the left doubled their height...the 2 on the right just strechted a little...
The 2 strechy ones seem to have a N defc.. ...the right ones don't...
I added some more veg fertilizer in last watering...
Soil is so bad...when i water them i have to wait like 5min till it fully soaked the first few drops...
Till now buds are forming equally good on all plants (no difference with the N defc)
Installed UVA, set it to 7h a day
Defoiled a little...plants are not in a perfect condition so i didn't remove much..
Buds are still forming greatly!
Found some herms on 1 plant...removed them and will keep a closer look every 2 days now...
It's getting real beautiful...
due to the big difference in day/night temperature the plants are turning very colorful
Greenbuzz nutes are very powerful...i overfed even i only fed them every 2nd watering...many tips are burned...will remember this for next grow
Buds are fattening and look good so far
Too much fertilizer last week still shows signs, many leaves burnt...
Buds are growing tho..
Heavy skunky smell started this week, after pressing the buds they smell very fruity...can't wait till harvest...
Buds are getting bigger and thicker
Smell is very strong, most likely one of the smelliest strains i had till now...very skunky!
Reduced nutes...i think next grow i'll only give like half of what is recommended
Midweek- flushed all plants with 15L rainwater + cleanfruits
End of week- normal watering (+-2L) pure water with cleanfruits
Disconnected the uva for last week..
I'm not happy with the overall harvest...it produced some good tasty smoke due to fine nutes and a wonderfull strain but i fu**ed it up by using a very bad soil...growth was very slow and also lost like 25g due to budrot/mold...again my fault as i set up ventilation the wrong way (RH was good but some buds didn't get enough airflow)
Again i learned alot of things and got 275g of good, great smelling smoke...so not that bad...but could be much better 🙂
