Lowered the lamp to its lowest recommended height above the plant per HLG, the manufacturer, of 12 inches on Day 22. This is different from my last grow, when I left the vegetative lamp at 15 inches above the plant until the flowering lamp switch for some reason. I was pretty afraid of light burn with that grow, so that's prolly why that happened. Don't remember. Light schedule back to 24 hours on Day 23 as well. Seems a good time to start pretending it's summertime, or something, so leave the light on all day. (I don't know if it's necessary to do this, but I do like just leaving the humidifier on 24/7 so that I don't need to get up early anymore to turn on the machine.) I'm not sure what's true at all about light schedules yet. I think it's going to take a while for me to do experiments on that issue. Someday, I'd like to do a test of going 12/12 with an autoflower in flowering, for example. See what happens. Then it happened, AGAIN! I broke the main branch doing LST on it on Day 23. I had come up with a technique in my second grow where I would hold down the main branch with TWO LST hooks on successive nodes to provide greater branch support when pulling it down. But I just forgot to use it. I was getting cocky, I think. I had broken that same branch in my first grow, so repeating the same mistake is frustrating. But the same as my first, in this grow, the main branch didn't completely break through. So I unhooked LST on that branch and let it heal. It eventually completely would. I'm not sure when It happened, because that branch is in the farthest part of the tent and the plant was already pretty big when it finally happened. But it happened. Nonetheless, I think this mishap slowed the growth of that branch, but in my strategy that's a good thing. But there's no denying that I was stressed about that whole branch dying on me when this mistake occurred. Everything's OK now, but that wasn't fun. The trellis net for Screen of Green was installed on Day 25. Many think of them as distinct techniques, but Screen of Green, I think, is actually more like a powerful subset of LST. When there are too many branches to grab and control, it's great to just be able to push down a whole part of the plant under the net, and that's it. Everyone is going where you need them to - just not up! πŸ˜„ It sets a visual limit to how high you're gonna let the plant go. In order to maintain proper discipline, I measure how high the net is above the floor on all four sides, and I make sure that it isn't above a certain limit. As mentioned in the Goals section of the Week1 comments, this limit would be only 10 inches, strictly held as long as possible this time. You can see in the pictures above that leaves of this plant are hovering awfully close to the coco coir. Turbo, LST. Mode. Not. Kidding. πŸ˜‚ This is so much fun. By Day 27, there were signs the main branch was resuming growth. Cannabis plants are magical in their abilities. Pure magic. I guess that counts as High Stress Training too, right? She wasn't topped, anyway. I still have never topped a plant. Thanks for reading. Hope this was helpful somehow. Have a great grow day. Oh and by the way no other grower has ever left such an impression on me man. I love how you noted every single week and took such great pics to help me understand and on top of all that your notes as well as the nutrients and mL amounts was unbelievable helpful in teaching me to understand and feel.more comfortable in feeding! Much appreciated! Cheers

@EBxAH, Hey buddy! I went to her page. I saw Zelda getting topped. The plants look great! I'm still very new to all this so I don't know how much advice I should be offering. But with regards to defoliation, my main reason for doing it is to get light penetration somewhere usually. Then somewhere around day 65 or 70 I might do some lollipopping if I see lower leaves couldn't possibly get any light, in order to reduce humidity and improve airflow in the tent. But that's it. Hope that helps?

@TinyTenter, hey man! So my wife started some gelato, wedding cake and Zkittles autos. I made a homemade scrog for the Zkittles. I suggested to her she should do defoliation with the wedding cake and let the gelato be. Would you check out Gekyumes Mom grow diary and give an honest opinion? Or any advice? You're killing it with auto my man so I been paying attention.

@EBxAH, I mean, I only have three grows under my belt, so I'm hardly the expert. (And as for inspiration. I've been to your page, buddy. I'm pretty sure the inspiration works more the other direction.. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘). But I read somewhere someone say that early LST, like Day 11, was as good as topping, and maybe better because you preserve bud sites. The grows I've done so far have been 60-90 cm plants. Small, so topping not a need. The one I just started is 80-100 cm. Maybe I'll make the decision to top that one, but I'd prefer not to. No, my plant-size-control method-of-choice that I've been using/testing is picking the right day to switch from my blue-spectrum growth-slowing veg lamp to my red-spectrum growth-exploding blooming lamp. The later in the stretch you make this switch, the smaller the plant should be in the end. Since she's an auto, the stretch ends on the day it ends. So by retarding her stretch with the blue lamp longer, you get a smaller plant when the stretch ends. Oh. And that branch healed for me, so she wasn't topped. I think I even got an extra cola out of the spot where the break happened. Cannabis is so rewarding, even when you mess up! 😜 Have a great one!

Man thanks for all the details on this I’m in week 2 now so still a long way off but a great read and a great outcome well done man I’m hoping I have a better yield than my first grow and I’m hoping it’s good for my anxiety aswell

@Civicgrows, Thanks buddy! Look at it as a learning experience. What matters is that you keep getting better at it by learning as much as you can. The results are less important, I think. You're obviously studying, so no matter what, you are doing a great job! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘Œ

Is that a 2x2x3 grow tent bro? Btw you definitely mastered the low stress training! What an amazing grow! Cheers
TinyTenter
TinyTenter
@LstNlsd, Yeah. It's a 2x2x3. It's all that I could fit in here, really. And if you are gonna flower in something like that, LST/ScrOG becomes SUPER essential. I took cues from GrowWeedEasy.com's article about how to grow in a mini-tent, and it started from there. Adopted/created some new techniques along the way. But yeah. Nebula Haze is really the muse behind this grow. I'd love to give her thanks in person. She positively changed my life a bit. But thanks so much for your kind words. Super appreciated.

You are very afraid of light burn. Believe me, with modern LED it is almost impossible to burn the leafs with too much heat! All effects you see, are no light burn at all. If you want to see real light burn effect, you have to hang the light 1-2 inches away from the next leaf. You can test this, if you dont believe me. Maybe on an older plant, because then it is not much damage. You can hang your lights only 10 inches away, because then your plant can collect much more light. Important, is the temperature of the leafs, not the air! The leaf should not have more than 28Β° Celsius. FraFra
