When the week began, I was feeling good about my decision to delay the flush one more week.. Thanks to all the pictures and videos on GrowDiaries, YouTube and many other places around the metaverse (😂), I'd acquired an almost subconscious feel now for what a completed bud should look like, and mine just still weren't there. And that was a good thing cuz some of these buds were getting super chunky up top. Nonetheless, I was seeing some curling in of the red hairs on the tops of a small number of the colas - like 2 or 3 - at this point. The lower buds were filling out well too - firm and thick to the touch, but that's where I got my biggest indicator that the plant wasn't finished. Many white straight out pistils there, though the majority were red and curly and obviously also sticking out. Springtime was beginning to bloom now. It was confirming something for me. Again, a larger plant needs to go higher in the tent, but the higher in the tent you go, the hotter it wll be there. Now that outside temps were rising, apartment/tent temps were rising. So it made the canopy hotter at the worst time - the end of flower. To counteract this, I would reduce the light schedule to 14/10.Thinking I'd rather have smaller buds than ruined buds. Also, had to bring out the dehumidifier to keep RH inside the tent down. But grateful she wasn't showing major signs of stress. As for the foxtailing I was talking about the prior week, still wasn't really sure that was what I was looking at. But if it was, it wasn't bad.If it was happening, only, like, 3 colas were being affected at all with it. Not a plant-wide problem. And if it was, what could I do about it? So why should I really care? I wasn't worried about re-vegging at this point. The smell when opening the tent was pretty strong now. Seemed there was a lot of weed in there now. She was frosty, but not as frosty as the last grow. I think this was a different phenotype of the same strain, because the two plants were different in several ways - bud color and shape, leaf shape and size, trichome density. She smelled the same though. Exactly the same great familiar smell. On Day 94, I finally got around to whipping out the loupe and taking a look at her jewelry. Shiny and standing up everywhere. Very little amber. Some mix of cloudy and clear. Same conclusion. If she was in the harvest window, it was still early in the harvest window. By Day 97, I was starting to feel more encouraged that I was on the right timeline. More visible sugar-donut-like frost on the buds now. The orange hairs around the plant were starting to curl in now, revealing more bud underneath. There were very few white hairs around the plant. A handful white foxtaily offshoots on the sides of the biggest buds, but again, not paying attention to those too hard. 97% of the plant was on the right schedule. So I decided I would start the flush soon. My first two grows, I was excited about harvesting. With this my third grow, I was more dreading trimming, so I was kinda dreading harvest a bit. 😂 If It wasn't for the fact that i needed to clear out this tent for my next grow which was already underway amd growing fast (FB/Lemon Pie Auto), I'd prolly waited two more weeks, just because I didn't wanna trim it. 😂 Day 105 target harvest date was still in effect. Hope that was fun, interesting, or helpful for you. Thanks for reading. Have a great grow day! Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

Oh and by the way no other grower has ever left such an impression on me man. I love how you noted every single week and took such great pics to help me understand and on top of all that your notes as well as the nutrients and mL amounts was unbelievable helpful in teaching me to understand and feel.more comfortable in feeding! Much appreciated! Cheers

@LstNlsd, Oh really? Wow. Well I'm glad, buddy! I write my diary honestly with the intention of being helpful and encouraging to anyone reading, so I'm glad it's helping someone out there. I'm definitely coming to your page to see what's going on now! 😀👍

@EBxAH, Hey buddy! I went to her page. I saw Zelda getting topped. The plants look great! I'm still very new to all this so I don't know how much advice I should be offering. But with regards to defoliation, my main reason for doing it is to get light penetration somewhere usually. Then somewhere around day 65 or 70 I might do some lollipopping if I see lower leaves couldn't possibly get any light, in order to reduce humidity and improve airflow in the tent. But that's it. Hope that helps?

@TinyTenter, hey man! So my wife started some gelato, wedding cake and Zkittles autos. I made a homemade scrog for the Zkittles. I suggested to her she should do defoliation with the wedding cake and let the gelato be. Would you check out Gekyumes Mom grow diary and give an honest opinion? Or any advice? You're killing it with auto my man so I been paying attention.

@EBxAH, I mean, I only have three grows under my belt, so I'm hardly the expert. (And as for inspiration. I've been to your page, buddy. I'm pretty sure the inspiration works more the other direction.. 😉👍). But I read somewhere someone say that early LST, like Day 11, was as good as topping, and maybe better because you preserve bud sites. The grows I've done so far have been 60-90 cm plants. Small, so topping not a need. The one I just started is 80-100 cm. Maybe I'll make the decision to top that one, but I'd prefer not to. No, my plant-size-control method-of-choice that I've been using/testing is picking the right day to switch from my blue-spectrum growth-slowing veg lamp to my red-spectrum growth-exploding blooming lamp. The later in the stretch you make this switch, the smaller the plant should be in the end. Since she's an auto, the stretch ends on the day it ends. So by retarding her stretch with the blue lamp longer, you get a smaller plant when the stretch ends. Oh. And that branch healed for me, so she wasn't topped. I think I even got an extra cola out of the spot where the break happened. Cannabis is so rewarding, even when you mess up! 😜 Have a great one!

@Sorsdetacachette, Oh! I just noticed the progression of your emojis there! 😄😍 Pretty cool! I like that. Yeah. If GrowDiaries was on the side of a cave wall instead of on the internet, that would be how I would explain my LST/grow strategy, yeah. LOL! 😂

Man thanks for all the details on this I’m in week 2 now so still a long way off but a great read and a great outcome well done man I’m hoping I have a better yield than my first grow and I’m hoping it’s good for my anxiety aswell

@Civicgrows, Thanks buddy! Look at it as a learning experience. What matters is that you keep getting better at it by learning as much as you can. The results are less important, I think. You're obviously studying, so no matter what, you are doing a great job! 😊👍👌

I'm running out of the stuff from my 2nd grow. parting is such sweet sorrow. 😢😂. Have a great grow day!! And thanks again! i copied everything I do from other people, so who am I to claim copyright on anything? I just hope whatever you steal works for you. I change my mind a lot so stay tuned to my grows! lol Take care.

Is that a 2x2x3 grow tent bro? Btw you definitely mastered the low stress training! What an amazing grow! Cheers
TinyTenter
TinyTentercommented3 years ago
@LstNlsd, Yeah. It's a 2x2x3. It's all that I could fit in here, really. And if you are gonna flower in something like that, LST/ScrOG becomes SUPER essential. I took cues from GrowWeedEasy.com's article about how to grow in a mini-tent, and it started from there. Adopted/created some new techniques along the way. But yeah. Nebula Haze is really the muse behind this grow. I'd love to give her thanks in person. She positively changed my life a bit. But thanks so much for your kind words. Super appreciated.

You are very afraid of light burn. Believe me, with modern LED it is almost impossible to burn the leafs with too much heat! All effects you see, are no light burn at all. If you want to see real light burn effect, you have to hang the light 1-2 inches away from the next leaf. You can test this, if you dont believe me. Maybe on an older plant, because then it is not much damage. You can hang your lights only 10 inches away, because then your plant can collect much more light. Important, is the temperature of the leafs, not the air! The leaf should not have more than 28° Celsius. FraFra
