Week 4! (actually that's tomorrow, but since I repotted today...) 4/2/2022, Day 28: I really like starting in the .75g pots. They give enough room and space that you don't run into some of the trouble of using Solos or similar smaller containers. Gives enough depth and width early on for the roots to explore. Last time 'round as well as this time, 3 weeks then move to the 5g's. Could certainly go 4 weeks and get more root bind if you wanted but I don't know that I buy the 'potbound for transplant is good' vibe. The feed back a few days ago at 5g of MaxiGro really did the trick. The plants indeed have grown noticeably every day since. I prefer re-potting within a few days of a watering/feeding. The soil is still damp enough to stay together and I think it helps move the rootball without stress. I do a pretty detailed job of soil prep though: - Promix from the bail moved into a 5g bucket with about 3.5 or 4g worth of soil. any clumps broken up by hand, and big root/stick/bark removed. -Mix in ~2tbsp. of Xtreme Gardening Mykos into the dry Promix HP+ -Water has been prepped (6.3pH, 5g MaxiGro, a half a tsp. or a little less of Real Grower's Recharge. - About .65g of water per bucket of soil, mixed in REALLY well. Make sure to get all the stuff at the bottom brought up and evenly clumpy damp/wet -Fill bags about 1/4 of the way, put empty pot in place and fill around all the way. If top edge of pot isn't at top edge of bag, add a bit more soil underneath. -Don't pack the soil but a little pressure to keep it in shape for when you pull the empty pot. I usually have about 1.5" left at the top to fill. -Unpot the plants by rolling/pushing loosening the sides and bottom. hold sideways/upside down and remove old pot. Insert into the awaiting hole you've made. -Add more soil around the newly nestled plant. In this case, another inch or so of soil, burying the stem a little bit too. My new planting ProMix was wetted to about the dampness of the soil in the rootball, or just a little more. The idea is to create a fluffy moist place for those surface roots to start exploring. Using nutrients/Recharge in water to match the environment that the plants have in their rootball already. Lights in tent adjusted lower with Phantom PhotoBio meter to 480umol, which the handy DLI calculator says is a DLI of 31.1mol, which should be right on for vegetative week 4. 4/4/2022: Day 30. Watering day. Soil was evenly dried from the transplant & from Thursdays feeding...so time to dig in. This time it was blackstrap, 2g. of MaxiGro and a half teaspoon of Recharge. Each plant ended up with just shy of a gallon and a half to generate some run-off and the leftovers went onto the tomato seedlings. Overall I'm really happy with the condition. The color has deepened without being nitrogen-green, and the plants are indeed expanding up and out. 6" as of today. Still working on the 5th and 6th nodes , once they've started to do some stuff, I'm going to LST some of the lowers and do a mainline. I feel like getting my shit together on having the Inkbird heat controller and being able to keep the temps in a tighter mid-70's to mid 80's range is totally a benefit. 4/7/2022: Day 33: Took the clippers to the two plants today. Topped back a few nodes (The plan was to 4, though I think I was at 7 and knocked it back to 5. I also removed the very bottom node's leaves & very vestigial branch growth. Will go back in a couple days & check out the progress and either continue to trim up. or start spreading the newly emerging branches to do more of a manifold type setup. 4/8/2022: Day 34: Feeding day. Bumped up the Maxigro by a gram to 6g, and added the usual 1g of epsom salts and a bit of molasses. You can see from the pics that the topping and cleanup haven't really had a major effect on the plants, no wilt or droop. One plant still has a few light-burned leaves left from a few weeks back when I transferred to brighter lights.

What's making these lowers blotchy yellow with some 'rust' spots? Any ideas? I think it's probably a P/K issue, am I underfeeding? Blumat drip system, Promix HP, Maxibloom @3.5g per gal. Ca/Mg @ 5ml per gallon. pH @5.8-6.2.

Hey there LeastExpected, so a few things are happening right now , basically it's from an imbalance in your NPK ratio. in flower you really want something like NPK 4-8-8 , right now you're at something like 2-4-8 , so right away you can tell you're going to be missing phosphorous, so what you're seeing in terms of yellowing is actually signs of K excess as well as P-deficiency. If you can find a way to add P that would help make your ratio better, and the problem will stop spreading almost immediately. Hope this helps ! ๐Ÿš€

Just saw you were gonna add some Epsom salt for mag, do you feel like the mag in maxigro isn't enough?

@@JerkFlowers, I've really only just started using the Maxigro...previously I was using GH Trio but moved over towards the end of my last grow. A few longtime growers have suggested .5-1g of Mg weekly wouldn't hurt and I did previously have purple stems (a known sign of deficiency). I previously use Ca/Mg, but I don't think I need extra calcium, given my water starts at ~220ppm. This grow I've now used epsom salts in quantities of .5 and 1g and haven't had any signs of mg toxicity.
