8/22/22 - Day 157 - So I'm officially going to call it flowering time. Pistols are starting to show a white cap on the top so she's ready to go!
With that cue, I decided to start providing her some slower power with some Gaia Green Power Bloom(2-8-4) . I've been fighting with myself trying to decide what I wanted to use as a hardener (banana peel tea), but figured I'd make it easy on myself this year and went with a premade fertilizer instead. You can see I have a branch on the bottom that seems to be turning yellow. I had a few others on other plants doing the same so I thought adding a bit of Nitrogen would help. Taking a closer look at my other plants, it looks like there is a small ring around the stem. Looks like a dried out ring which is caused by grasshoppers munching on the plants. I found a couple of large grasshoppers (2") hanging around the branches so I'll have to figure out how to get rid of them. This plant however doesn't have those rings. I'm wondering if there was some damage caused by the wind or maybe I hit it when watering that caused it to crack or something. Will keep you posted for next week.
Fertilizer - Added 2 lbs of Gaia green ~(3 cups) Continue schedule of Compost tea (Boogie brew & Boogie Boost) and trying to hit them twice a week with Pure protein and Kelp foiler spray.
Weather - Temps have been pretty mild this year. Low 80's with little rain.
Pests - Grass Hoppers are munching on the branches. Probably pick them off and smash if the chickens don't take care of them.
That’s some nice tree you got ! This plant has a interesting shape and form 😁 I also have outdoor projects - take a look some time , I’ll be following this massive grow you definitely have farmer tendencies 🤣😅😀
