Must be getting close to ripe now. Being my first harvest I’m pretty uncertain though. Trichomes are mostly milky, I’m only seeing amber on the sugar leaves (and trying to ignore that), and we’re way past the “projected harvest date”. I know, I know… give her two more weeks. But how long is too long?

Day 41 now, lots of training and trimming, when can expect flower to begin?

Hey buddy. You will see stigma, (white hairs, pistons) come from the bud sites, (calyxes). First signs of stigma flowering time is usually 55-65 days depending on strain but always check the trichomes too. But them days are always nearly in the area of what a plant needs as in the way of flowering. Some autos might begin stigma at wk 3-4 or 5 I got away with one till wk 8 cause I stalled it. First pic is signs of stigma. Good luck buddy. growdiaries.com/diaries/129885-grow-journal-by-gottagrowsometime/week/719413

Hey all, thanks for your responses. I have another question… is this the first sign of flower?

Yes, in about 2 weeks, flowering should commence in earnest. What you are seeing are primordia or "pre-flowers". Hope this helps, Organoman.

Natures living soil autoflower bottom third mix happy frog to the top. Been top dressing every three waterings with the girl flower power. Had her out of the tent yesterday lsting and gave her a foliar mist with aloe powder and coconut water. Noticed these spots this morning.

Never layer soil, always mix it before adding it to your pot. Layers can cause shock to the plant by growing one way then suddenly growing into something (soil) that is completely different. The spots are from misting, misting is completely unnecessary. It should only ever be done as an emergency solution for chronic deficiencies of trace elements. If you want to boost your plants immune system, fulvic acid, amino acids and humic acids applied to the soil will really get your plant zinging along. Hope this helps, Organoman.

I’m in the early weeks of flower and am seeing this happening. I thought it was due to an attempt at foliar feeding, but those initial problem leaves have been trimmed. Is this a calcium deficiency, and if so, how can I address it? (NLS top dress/coconut powder/recharge)

Calcium and Magnesium work together and a deficiency of one can cause a problem with the plants processing the other. Epsom salt from the corner store is good for magnesium and if you boil some eggs eat them but save the water for 24 hours and use it as a foliar spray or simply water with it for some calcium

Is this a cal/mag issue? How much and how often should I give it? Going to recalibrate ph pen when sauce arrives. Living soil w/ recharge and NLS flower top dressing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ahh I wouldn’t say cal mag because it’s not the upper leaves it’s the lower. So it’s nitrogen, but you just started to flower. Get a ph pen for sure. Feed this lady a bloom tea and reset for early flower feed. I think you are ok.

72 days from seed and she’s yellowing and spotting. Distilled water, recharge and 5ml cal/mag. My lack of experience is becoming apparent. What should I do differently next run? What should I do for this girl and the one two weeks behind her? Thanks in advance for all of your

Try organic dry amendments and worm castings less chance of burning your plants and dont have to worry as much about ph. Try gaia green or the american one lol dr earth or mother earth. Im sorry i cant remember

I corrected my mistake of buying the cheap ph pen and the apera reads 8.0 (should have bought it to begin with). Now watering at 6.8, things are looking better already. Am I seeing nutrient burn or is the discoloration normal? Are there any steps I should take with the soil?

I think the discoloration is entirely normal given where you are in the life cycle of this auto... These leaves can get quite raunchy looking towards the end of life! If the discoloration was in the fan leaves further down, you might have a bit of a problem but I can't see any- so don't worry! Nice looking grow! You're almost to the finish line!

So, pistils are starting to turn brown and the leaves are going off, is there anything that I should be doing at this point? Stop top dressing? With natures living soil do I need to start thinking about a flush? You all are such great help. Thank you

No, your plant needs every leaf it has to make the energy she needs to grow her best flowers. Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum amount of energy production = maximum results. It really is that simple!

I’m at the outer edge of the breeders timeline (14 weeks from sprout) and am uncertain when to harvest. I think I’m seeing milky TRICHOMES and perhaps some starting to go amber… but I really don’t know what I’m looking at. What do you all think, two more weeks or timber time?

Alright, two-ish more weeks. I aim to hang her whole in a dark tent in the basement at 60 degrees/60% R.H. for two weeks once she’s ready. Should I remove the larger fan leaves? Should I trim it like it’s hot? Or do nothing but wait? Any tips on the process? Anything missin

@60/60 i would trim just the large fan leaves when you harvest. Hang the plant in the dark with a slight circulating airflow not in direct contact with the plants.

Sour diesel I started two weeks after the Ak-47. Much airier in there based on lessons learned from the ak. I’m concerned about harvest time, both girls are way past due dates. What do y’all think?

Yeah its done . Orange hairs are finished she's just throwing out extra pistols late in flower. I can tell it's an autoflower, some phenos don't form as well as feminised. Will still be good stuff , nice plant enjoy .

Hmmmmm. This a weird 1. Your leafs say its done but your pistils look far from done. The whole dead thing, idk where he's getting that. If u have enough healthy growth left it'll be fine. Bit hard to tell but it looks like it's only been flowering 6 weeks from what I can tell from your diary. Maybe you weren't feeding enough idk y you have such huge die off when your buds look like they need another 2 weeks cooking. Idk how the trichomes look, if they are all cloudy then get ready to harvest with looking at them pistils they shouldn't be so long and still a few whites. They should be curling into the bud, so seeing that, I'd say strip off all dead leafs and have a look at what's healthy and try keep up the feeds. If the leafs stay healthy or even do a ppm test and see if she's still eating. Idk. Good luck.

Looking good 👍 I just started using the Grove bags and so far I like them I'd say the only thing you have to make sure your buds are at the right moisture before sealing the bag. I go for somewhere between 55 and 65% but 58-62% is perfect. I also have a trim bin I like it but my ol lady doesn't she has short arms and likes the other low sided trays

@timber03, I'm not sure where you are drying but your temperature and humidity will change how fast or slow the buds dry. I'm in the desert where the humidity or rh is under 20% I struggle to get it up to 40% so my buds dry after hanging 3 to 5 days if I went 7-10 days they would be powdered buds 😆 anyway I think you would get more if you check out this article than me trying to type it into something that makes sense. These ladies are top shelf growers and explain things brilliantly. Still feel free to ask me questions I just know these ladies will explain better than me on this one 4sure https://www.growweedeasy.com/drying-curing

timber03commented3 years ago
@Cyrusdavirus,thanks for your kind words and your continuing help. How do I tell when the buds are at the right humidity? Is it different than the rh in the tent or does it equalize after the two weeks?

Good looking plant, plants use the most calmag right at the start of flower I answered the question but wanted to ask if you were using RO or distilled water?

Cyrusdaviruscommented3 years ago
@timber03, right on I'd love to be back out in the country. I have bad health and had to move into town to be close to a hospital. Depending on where you are in the world on what could be in the water. It's not really that important though I'm sure there's nothing bad but it would be nice to know the mineral content and ph. Good luck on your ventures and happy growing. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions I'll try to answer them, I've been growing in living soil for a couple years now I don't know much but I have a little knowledge in my old brain.

@Cyrusdavirus, Thanks so much for answering. I’m loving this whole process but just don’t know some of the answers yet. I’m living in an old farmhouse with a well and using that water as is. It’s been treating my houseplants wonderfully for years.

She looks good and like she's getting close, I would take off about half of the biggest leaves that would help with the humidity a little

Looking good in there 👌 I see a couple ambers on your leaves but they will turn before the ones on the bud are ready so make sure you are judging the trichomes on the bud not leaves, watch the pistils (hairs) as more change color the trichomes will as well. You will get new white pistils as they are maturing so make sure you are looking at the older parts of the bud with the dark pistils the white ones are new growth. Here's a good article about what you want to look for https://www.alchimiaweb.com/blogen/harvest-marijuana-plants-trichome-ripeness/
