Day 1 - Seedling broke ground 07/05. Currently growing outside in a solo cup until my two plants are harvested. Currently in FFOF amended with perlite and worm castings. Once she gets bigger I will transplant into a 5 gallon fabric pot with Pro-Mix. Day 2 - I have been moving the cup from outside to inside to take advantage of sunlight and my LED. Current light cycle is around 20 hours.

Day 17 - Fed nutrients Day 20 - Started LST in the morning. By the afternoon, I already saw the smaller growth tips breaking out and the main cola bending upward. Day 21 - Fed nutrients. Doing 1/2 strength GHE schedule. It looks like I have some leaf miner damage on my older growth. I will be treating with Spinosad tomorrow.

Does this look like leaf miner damage? There are small tracks on most of the older leaves similar to the picture.

Hey there so with the miners like people have mentioned you're doing alright with the spinosad and removing the bad leaves, as miners live inside them. Since you're only at week 4, you could use neem in addition to the spinosad, but definitely retreat the area a few times with your spinosad at least. If you start noticing bite Mark's out of the leaves then you may have other bugs and the spinosad may not work against them, this is why a secondary treatment (neem, predator bugs, or BT is useful) Best of luck, great job at catching them so early on.

Day 24 - Treated the plant with Spinosad. I am hoping this will control the leaf miners. Day 25 - Fed nutrients. Treated with neem oil after dark. Day 26 - Treated with neem after dark. Day 28 - Plant is throwing out lots of calyxes. I am not noticing any new leaf miner damage.

Day 51 - I finally harvested my previous grow so I brought the Dark Devil inside on 18/6 to finish off. Added water. Day 53 - Fed nutrients and put in my Blumats. Day 54 - Treated with neem before lights out. There are still some small bugs hanging out on the plant. I don't think there are any damaging pests, but it doesn't hurt to make sure. Trichomes are looking pretty cloudy. I'm guessing there aren't too many weeks left.

Day 57 - Fed nutrients. Found an aphid on one of my colas. I picked it off with tweezers and will spray Spinosad tomorrow. Day 61 - Plants have a little bit of foxtailing going on. Temperatures have been 78-83 which I feel are decent. I will lower them a little bit more. Day 62 - Fed nutrients. Day 63 - The trichomes are still looking clear/cloudy.

Week 10. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

The plant grew extremely well from the beginning. There was an unfortunate amount of insect issues with the plant that affected growth. Once I brought it inside, the plant finished flowering with little issue. The smell is amazing and the purple color is great. This is by far the best looking and best smelling/tasting strain I have grown so far.

The growth was a little stunted from having to veg the plant outside. The plant ended up drying much faster than I expected and was a little too dry. I had my room at 75 with 50% humidity for the last 5 days. The buds still smell amazing though. There is a very distinct berry smell to them and they are very sweet. The buds even have some sugary sap that has dripped out of some parts. The buds were not as tight as on my last harvest and had a higher density of sugar leaves. The calyxes were all very large, and I attribute this quality to the low bud density. This made trimming pretty time consuming and I ended up with over an ounce of trim compared to the 1,8 ounces of bud.

What kind of camera do you use to get those rly nice close up shots? Your plant looks great btw!! I've been wanting to try this strain, even more so now after seeing yours lol :)

@Kushlove420, I use my Galaxy S8 with a macro lens purchased on amazon. I also have a usb microscope that i used to make most of my earlier pictures. The microscope is much harder to use. Macro lens: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C6RYK4F/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Gorgeous plant..surprising it really darkened so well outdoors in the heat! Based on yours and Stinkfox's recent success with this one, I'll be ordering some of these beans very, very soon.
HomerAndAbe
HomerAndAbecommented7 years ago
@Silverback_Guerilla, This strain has not been very insect resistant but has been very resilient to the heat and quick evaporation that happens outdoors. Temperatures have been averaging mid-high 80s since it germinated.

Hi bro, at this moment it's better to use more CAL MAG instead FloraGro ;) I hope this helps you! jaypp

@Sweet_Seeds, Thanks for the advice. Increased CalMag. The newer growth does look a little dark.

Hi @HomerAndAbe, yes it definitely looks like miners digging into the leaves. I would use some neem oil mixed with water and spray onto and below the leaves when the light turns off, everyday until they're gone - or until you have flowers. I use 10-12 drops of neem oil for 500ml of water. Hope this helps, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊
Mrs_Larimar
Mrs_Larimarcommentedweek 27 years ago
I would recommend you next time put her directly in the final pot. Automatics are special in that they dont like too small pots. They like to stop growing/and in worst case they start to flower if roots hit bottom of the pot. So dont wait to long and transplant her very careful. Greetings and happy growing
the end.
