Hi fellow growers !
It's time for my annual grow, and this year, I opted for a new RQS strain : The Royal Skywalker, which makes this diary the second one currently existing on this platform, with Happyweeds's one (https://growdiaries.com/diaries/137520-grow-journal-by-happyweeds) :).
Also, thanks to RQS for sending me seeds again this year; I really appreciate it ! <3
Here is what I'm planing to use / do :
Seeds : RQS Royal Skywalker x3 (x4 if the 3rd one finally sprout, but I doubt it)
Pots : 9L airpots (in a few weeks)
Lamp : ViparSpectra V600 (LED) (mostly blue lights for a few weeks, then blue + red)
Nutrients : Foxfarm Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom + Calmag (not until I repot them in a few weeks)
Technique : Topping + Mainlining or (chaotic) LST
Medium : Soil
Light schedule : 18/6 for a few weeks, then 12/12
So far, two out of three seeds sprouted, and it took one full week (probably due to low temperature; can't tell), which makes me worried for a few days. In case the third one doesn't comes out, I just planted a new one.
I also just repoted them in slightly bigger pots, so they can develop their roots for a few weeks before I put them in 9L pots. Now they are still a bit young, so I'll wait for a couple days before putting them under the lamp.
As usual, I'll try to update every week. Wish you a good one !
Plants are growing slowly, but no problem so far.
The spare one I planted last week is ready, though she had her head stuck in her seed hull, so I had to remove it very carefully with tweezers a few days ago. Now she is ready to join her sisters under the lamp :).
Next step would be to repot them in bigger pots, probably next week-end.
And that's all for now. Have all a nice week !
Hey !
So after a whole week in small pots under blue lights, I repoted them (even the late one) in bigger pots, and turned on the red light switch.
It's a bit too soon to top them now, my guess is they'll be ready next week. Now they need to rest a bit after the stress induced by repoting; they seem healthy, but you can see how droopy first serrated leaves are for now.
The soil I used this year seems to have enough nutrients in it for a few weeks, though I added some mild fertilizer with watering; seems about right. Also move stuff around to adjust the setup, so lamp is 60cm away from top, and turned on another fan for better airflow and strengthen stems.
Have a nice week friends !
Hey fellow growers,
Plants looked a bit stressed and worned out at the start of the week, as usual after repotting them, but are now in a stunning shape. I'm not sure if it's thanks to the soil, for I haven't feed them much, but I like what I see :).
I just top the two of them that seemed ready (aiming for a manifold); perhaps a bit too soon (you can see how little are the growth tips on third node), but it worked out last year, so I think it might be ok. I left fan leaves this time, in hope it will help them recover quickly. Third one is one week late and definitely not ready, so we'll see in a few days.
I might give them some more nitrogen starting this week, and that's it !
Wish you all a great week !
Yo !
I did some maintenance this week; removed some leaves on already topped plants, topped the last one and started LST.
Also added some nitrogen loaded fertilizer to the mix, though they don't seem to need it that much :p
Next step : keep topping until they each grow 8 main stems.
And that's it !
Thanks for reading; wish you a nice week !
Several things happened this week; some more topping, leaves removal and training (no judging on my makeshift setup with sticks and ties ! :p). Also added calmag to the mix (one fan leaf showed mild deficiency before I pruned it).
For two of them, I kept growth tips on first internodes, remove them on second, and topped at the third so my manifold already have eight mains. For the last one (one week late from the others), I removed growth tips on first and will soon top her again on second, then later on third, for a total of also eight mains, just not the exact same structure.
All in all, plants react very well to training, and they seem happy in general. So far so good... :)
Wish you all a nice week friends !
Usual growing week here : Removed some leaves, tied branches, water, fertilizer, yada yada..
Those are the most interesting days in the cycle IMO, when you build your plants foundations as they start growing stronger and stronger.
Next : Last topping on the third plant (the one-week-late one), re-tie the long one branches (because she starts to stretch a bit too much), and perhaps move things around to adjust lamp height and give plants more space. Maybe also install tomatoes cages.
Wish you all a great week fellow growers ! :)
Things continue as they should; I kept tying them down, topped off the last one for the last time, and am now waiting for her (the late one) to catch up so I can switch to flowering stage.
Setup wise, I just lifted the lamp a few cm up an that's it !
Have a great week growmies ! <3
Uneventful week, for the most part. I adjusted the setup a bit to give plants more room, now that they are tall enough that I can hang the lamp up there and still have it clone enough to canopy. Also set tomato cages up.
I switch to 12/12 yesterday, and adjusted nutrients for the few next weeks, so they get a bit more phosphorous, and soon a bit less nitrogen.
Everything is going great, though mainlining is a slow process. I might try something else next year.
Wish you all a nice week !
Late update for this week, sorry folks !
Not much happened; I adjusted the setup a little bit, and I'll do it a few more times so lamp <-> plants distance stays ~50cm. Next step, removing the table.
Also added some Tiger bloom (2-8-4) to the mix, and reduced nitrogen a bit. Removed ties, now that plants start to stretch.
I did some pruning (well, fan leaves only) this morning, but that's for next week update.
That's pretty much it ! :)
Thanks for stopping by; have a great week growmies !
New week, same stuff. Plants finally stopped stretching and started to grow flowers.
I gave them some more space by removing the table underneath, and removed some more fan leaves and internodes sprouts. Now I'll just keep feeding them and wait for big flowers to pop out.
I love to stop by this room every night and watch them in their absolute splendor. I freaking love this plant (and my cats too haha) !
Have a nice week friends !
Uneventful week; flowers are getting bigger and starts to release a sweet fragrance <3
Weather has been very hot these past days, so I had to water them more often, but they still fare pretty well.
Now it's smooth sailing til the end :)
Have a great week folks !
Another late update... I'm really busy these days :/
Anyways, flowers are getting bigger (well, mostly on one of the plants) and frostier; can't wait to taste them :)
TTYL !
Almost there ! Just a few more weeks :D
Changes in feeding schedule : No more grow big (nitrogen-heavy leaned) nor calmag.
Plants looks healthy, except for some burn mark on some of the tall one's leaves.
Later !
More and more amber trichomes. One is ready to harvest, the other two might need one or two more weeks; I'll wait a bit longer and assess next week.
Also, I don't understand why every year, one of the plant grow differently as the others, less tall, fluffier and frostier buds. Always the one sitting on the same spot, so it might be something related to light exposure ? Anyways, I'll try something else next time, and switch to flo a few weeks prior.
Have all a nice week !
One more week ! :) Starting this week, only water.
Also, I just noticed I forgot to update light schedule since I switch to flo, so 12/12 from week 9.
I'll probably update in two weeks or so, after harvest and drying.
Later !
Another great year; plants didn't gave me no problem whatsoever and I'm satisfied with the outcome : 436g wet / 93g dry. Though only one plant of the three I harvested gave me dense buds; the other two produced more fluffy ones, more leafy, but just as frosty.
Mainlining is fun and looks great, but I might try another technique next year, perhaps SCROG, or just some topping / LST.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, I wish you an harvest as good as mine, if not better.
Also thanks to RQS for providing seeds and an unlimited amount of rolling paper :p I don't remember the last time I had to buy some :D
Have all a great day; see you next year (if not before) !
@HappyWeeds, I know :); I mentioned your diary as the first one here for this strain on first week.
I think you're doing quite alright buddy, to say the least, though I appreciate the compliment ! <3
Wish you also good luck on your grow, that I'll keep following with attention !
