04/04/22: A return to the White Widow x Big Bud for its pleasure and ease to grow - I have 4 "4x2" tents in which I am growing them in. Much larger scale grow and hope for good results should be ready mid July. the seeds were placed into a glass of water for 24 hours and then the paper towel method for 48 hours. now under purple light in seed trays to stimulate growth
17/04: 30 big ones to come! still young but all have past the cotyledon stage and are showing good signs of good genetics - humidity is on point - on 100ml of water every other day - at this stage its all for the taking - will try SCROG for the first time with this grow in a few weeks. 30 happy plants and shoots so far.
24/04: plants are taking shape nicely - lights are at 50% and around 22 inch from the plants - have started on a low dose of veg nute - biogrow is real strong so only a 0.5 dose from experience! I would not like nitrogen burn again :)
30/04: some of the plants are doing better than others in terms of growth size - larger fan leaves - i will need to do some pruning earlier on as I have crammed them into space - this isn't a problem however - same dosage but more water. fans have been added for circulation of air on medium setting. Lights are at 60% and 22inches away.
07/05: plants are starting to smell a bit and the air humidity is quite wet. will be installing the carbon filter and dehumidifiers next week. strong Indica genetics large fan leaves all around - have started on a small dose of bud ignitor as next week they will go into flower - bud sites already showing light green so this will be promising. lights are at 70%
14/05: The first two tents are coming along really nicely - big tall plants with lots of bud sites showing - healthy tents - the second two tents look more squat and bushier though i do remember those seedlings were smaller so maybe a week or so behind - lights at 80% - each tent now has a dehumidifer and and a carbon filter and extractor fan which has brought the humidity down nicely. have defoliated the fan leaves and some other top leaves just to allow more light penetration into the bud sights - some of the tents are over crowded - but time will tell it is early days
21/05: tent 1 and 2 have really taken to all the nutes and are getting really tall and the pistils are beginning to show - will do lollipop in around 3 weeks. lights are at 80% - tents 3 and 4 seem to be lagging behind slightly but they are showing the beginnings of pistils - they are smaller and squatter than the first two tents - started the defoliation early due to overcrowding -
29/05: The first two tents are coming along very well - alot more than the last two - this was likely due to a lack of power in the last two tents - have gave them both their own power source. all seem to responding well to the nirvana nutrient - raised the lights in two tents - humidity kept at an all time low for flowering. coming along nicely
04/06:
Tent 1: Plants are doing amazing - big heads and colas are too heavy for the stalks - I had to use support sticks - I also lollipopped but pruning away the smaller branches and leaves in the lower part of each plant to ensure growth now solely goes to the bud sites - added a carbon bag
Tent 2: Plants are also doing very well though not as well as tent one - also lollipopped and used some support sticks - added a carbon bag
Tent 3: around one week behind tents 1 and 2 - slowly the pistils are coming out - but not as fast as i'd like - however the plants are doing their thing and will just need the time. - added a carbon bag - Light strength is likely causing the delay but now it has its own power source it should catch up.
Tent 4: also around one week behind tents 1 and 2 - pistils however are showing stronger than tent 3 and the plants are bushier - added a carbon bag. - Light strength is likely causing the delay but now it has its own power source it should catch up.
tent 1: is coming along very well and ahead of the rest - large colas are forming throughout - the smell is gorgeous inside that sweet sweet white widow aroma - envrionment is spot on. trichomes are starting to form
tent 2: also doing very well is only slightly behind tent 1 - good smell and good strength of stalks and colas - trichomes are starting to form
tent 3: this one needs some attention - i left it in 24 hours daylight by mistake for a week - has been put back onto 12 /12 schedule and have scaled back the nutes - added ignitor again for this tent. hopefully it hasnt regressed back into veg too much
tent 4: coming along well with its new power source - colas and crowns are forming slowly but surely - there is some good development going on
all in all tent 3 and 4 should finish between 2 and 4 weeks behind tent 1 and 2
tent 1: as last week - coming along very strong with weighty buds and a lovely fresh white widow aroma forming - trichomes are getting thicker covering the plants with little crystals. may need some more sticks for support in the final weeks. 4 weeks of growth left and last week on the nirvana nutrient. pistils still mostly white
tent 2: as last week also coming along well - trichomes are forming and the colas are looking heavy. nice to see mutli bud heads at the top of the colas on some plants - the mutants as i call them - hopefully showing their big bud genetics - pistals still mostly white.
Tent 3: thankfully no hermaphrodites having been stuck in the light as per last week. the plant has returned to flowering nicely though looks alittle weak - a slight mistake that i do not want to make again - pistals and crowns are showing though and coming through with good progress. will lollipop next week.
Tent 4: way more advanced than tent 3 with multiple pistils and colas blooming nicely - will need to lollipop next week.
Any idea how and why these mutant looking colas are formed with multiple bud sites at the top of the cola? From experience they give a good heavy yield despite the ugliness! Any advice appreciated ! Thanks !
You shouldn't have a main cola if you topped it. Are you sure you didn't accidentally Flming her.
Anyways, the whole trying to open up the budlets, I have no idea how your gonna do that as they are all grown together, so ye.
It'll be fine if just looks like a later staged Flming'ed. She'll make for a nice bud. Just keep RH below 60 to avoid bud rot and good air flow. And before ppl comment I'm not suggesting you should keep it at 60RH for flowering 35-40 is best but to avoid bud rot and nutrient defs keep your RH lower than 60 with good air flow you'll be fine.

Tent 1: The perfect tent and will be finished a few days ahead of tent two - no issues whatsoever trichomes abundant and leaves stalks and bud sites are swelling and all looking good for its age
Tent 2: the same as tent one only slightly smaller bud sites due to slightly lower power I imagine - one plant has moderate nutrient burn so has been flushed and then put on half the dose of nutrients already
Tent 3: the comeback kid - well back into flower - and pistils are climbing up the colas and joining in some parts.
Tent 4: ahead of tent 3 but behind tent 4 - again all is doing as it should do and now there are plenty of bud sites and colas.
One plant has strong nute burn - i think too much topmax - i have been flushing with plain water - but do you think it is too far gone? can it be saved? any tips on getting it over the line? it is now in week 12 of flower. trimmed leaves - not all of the plant is burnt tho!
Of course it can be saved.
I see enough energy leafs there.
Clean her up a little. Cut those leafs, not all just the crisp, or not, it's not nes, but if you want to make sure you are out of nutrient burn you'll need to cut back to green to notice any on going probs, now normally I'd say look to new growth, as I burnt the shit out of 1 of my gorilla zkittlez but I have enough new growth to know its been out of danger weeks now but just looks bad but in reality she's very healthy.
I see a lot of healthy growth left, (even those burnt leafs, look fine)

Tent 1: coming along nicely - swollen buds and nute burn throughout - will be starting on 2 weeks overdrive next week. - had a red spider mite problem - got rid of all the webs and sprayed with "SB plant invigorator" seems to have gotten rid of them :)
Tent 2: coming along well - swollen buds - two of the plants have nute burn which has been flushed for the past couple of feeds - will start on a quarter dose for those two plants and then overdrive for the rest next week.
Tent 3: fully into flowering - one plant has nute burn the rest are showing the usual pistils well and coming along nicely - trimmed lower branches
Tent 4: nicely flowering large colas are starting to develop throughout - trimmed lower branches
three plants in tent 2 are badly nute burned - think using overdrive too soon. have had to trim off all the leaves leaving the big bud sites. at this stage should i just be flushing for the final weeks? are they dead? will it damage the flavour of the smoke and potency?
Yeah, if I were you, I'd be harvesting those buds now rather than waiting... but JUST those buds.... you can let the rest of the plant go longer if the trichs aren't up to snuff but those look pretty brown/bordering on dead so I'd see what I could salvage from them ... I don't know what "overdrive" is but I'd think very carefully about using it again in a future grow - and maybe, if you DO use it, use it at 1/2 strength and monitor, monitor, monitor!!

have just looked into my tents - tent 2 is destroyed - tent 1 suffering aswell as the other tents. brown, shrivelled and dead. what caused this? nute burn? too hot? not enough water?
just so i know for next time as this is very bad
So sad. Well, after looking through your weeks. I think I know the cause of your issues
You are using nutrients that are not meant to be given at that stage of growth. And you are mixing stuff up. 1 week nirvana, 1 wk big bud. 5ml, 4ml,4ml way to much of similar nutrients.
There is only a few things that help with growth. And what you are doing is overloading on 1 of the same thing but just in a dif bottle.
Drop most of that. Or use it as you are meant to. Not with a week here and a week there on this and that. Straight nutrient lock. And as GrowingG said more nutrients doesn't translate into a bigger crop. If anything its the opposite. Less is more when growing.
Now, you'll c I use a boat load of nutrients but I use them in small amounts and I break them up into 3 groups. My ppm stays low. I'll be dropping a load of stuff. Focus on what you have. Big bud should only be used in the 1st 3-4 weeks of flowering if I remember correctly. And nirvana is given in the much earlier stages. Also, I find things like Nirvana and big bud from adv nutrients. You have to be careful when adding these things to other brands of nutrients. Be sure to give brands that are of the same together unless you know they work. But I had issues with mixing big bud in with another brand of nutrients. Was going like yours but I caught it after a few rust spots but no doubt if I'd of left I'd of gotten that.
Drop a lot of that. Stick with some core NPK +micro + calmag. That's all you need. And when you dial it in, then mess around with adding and taking away stuff.

11/07: all tents have suffered with nutirent burn or lock out - tent two has been destroyed. tents 3 and 4 still have some plants in them and tent 1 will make it over the line into the harvest - so far not so good - you live and you learn
always a winner with me - will continue to grow this - relatively disease resistance and produces a power high. large sticky colas and nuggets as usual.
everything started off really well with around 30 plants spread out over 4 tents - I did however make some rookie mistakes (see previous weeks) messing around adding in big bud for an extra week and basically caused nutrient lock out which damage many many plants - a massive mistake which cost me dearly. I did however save 9 and they produced a dried yield of 8.35 ounces. We start again however and a lesson sharply learnt. One tent also caught spider mites but quite luckily in the final stages of flower so didnt affect the over all growth too badly.
