Awesome light. Plant loved it

Really crap zip. Shoddy workmanship on stitching for the inside zip cover. It was actually stitched to the inside of the tent. Only noticed this when I saw light leaking out. Wouldnโ€™t get another from this mob.

This was my first genuine & serious attempt at growing cannabis. Kind of surprised me how quickly these autos grow. But saying that I found it very easy strain to look after. Off this one plant I managed 200gms wet trimmed. After drying & further tidy up trim I reckon about 120gms. Enough for me & few friends. Very happy with is outcome. Iโ€™ll report later with a smoke review. Just like to thank the great folk here who helped along the way wth encouragement & advice ๐Ÿค˜

Hi Once the seed sprouts, what is the optimum distance to place the light from the seedling?

It depends on what kind of grow you want. If you want to give them a stretch ( i personaly dont like that) you can keep your lights at a higher distance, If you want them to grow tricker, you keep them lower. For HPS lamps the distance should be like this: 400WATT 40CM, 600WATT 60CM, as for LEDS you can get them lower since LEDs doesnt have that much heat compaird to HPS. In your case you got like 200WATT leds and they need like 30-40cm distance. Goodluck :)

Hey Thanks for the replies. So about 30-40cm it is ๐Ÿ‘ Don't have TS1000 yet, but have one order... expecting it to be delivered today actually I notice you say 24"-30" for germination. Should I have lights on before that actually sprout? Currently complete darkness

hey there JMW, i count the veg stage usually from the first set of three pointed leafs because that's when the seedling specific care stops being necessary and the veg truly starts with its own techniques. But the easiest is really to to start week 1 from the first sprout. I count from sprout to the first three leafs. but really the most important thing is to count in a way that's useful to you. No clear answer here, but i hope this helps ! ๐Ÿš€

Hey Any pointers for the Bubba Kush? It seems to be really struggling compared to the Gelato. Both under the same light intensity, light approx. 40cm from the seedlings. Same temp & humidity. Not over watering, just keeping the soil around it moist. Or is it just bad genetics??

"Not over watering, just keeping the soil around it moist." i think the other answers covered the possibilities of what's going on here... but this statement makes me a little concerned. you want to water a seedling in a similar way to any other pot of substrate... unless it is way too large you adjust slightly, but still same concepts. even at that size the tap root is surprisingly deep. root growth will follow the water... it is important to water at least a column of substrate (if huge pot) all the way down -- some runoff will ensure this has occured. don't keep surfact moist... that will only encourage a greater proportion of superficial roots. Erosion and other things will make these roots less useful that roots deeper down. This area evaporates the fastest and will have the most out of whack nutrient levels at any particular time because of that fact. allow surface to dry a bit ... with soil maybe 1" deep or a knuckle... then learn the weight of the pot at that point... the weight of the pot is the easiest and most consistent way to water at the same point in recurring process. never let "i do the same things to all plants" prevent you from observing and reacting to an individual plant. There are several environmental variables you do not control. There are genetics that vary. In general, less is more... this hobby has a lot of OCD nonsense baked in that does nothing but calm a neurotic need to 'do something' even when it is not needed. keep it simple... if you can't find it in a biology book or a proper source (not forums or this questions area) then you should be suspsect of the anecdotal knowledge... as much of that is often wrong. e.g. flushing at end of harvest to 'improve' the outcome is nonsense and an example of how if a group of people repeat something enough, even if wrong, many will follow and form faith-like beliefs in it. Some people tell you to cure in an airtight vessel... when anaerobic growth is the greatest risk to ruining a cure... turning it brown or bad smells like commercial/schwage weed that was left in a pile under a baking sun immediately after harvest. 80% of the information out there is bad. something you believe (and me too.. everyone) is wrong, almost guaranteed. so... don't form rigid beliefs... be willing to bend when facts contradict anecdotal nonsense. verify everything... don't just trust "me" (=anyone giving advice).

14 days since sprout. Is this about where it should be? Or is it stunted? My dog tried to eat it a couple of days ago. That's the reason the lower leaves are mangled. A little concerned about the slight yellowing also.

This plant has started to flower. At this early stage should keep using growth nutrients for a couple of weeks, or switch to flowering nutrients? I've been very light on feeding it at the moment, which doesn't seem to be doing it any harm. I'd like to keep using the Rhizotonic.

Well, if you are using soil. With nutrients like that (base nutrients) with soil it lasts longer in the soil, so once or twice a week max at 2ml/l or less depending on how many different nutrients you are using and the ppm/ec of course. If you are using coco you want to make up a mix and feed her a little every day, with coco you will need to give most of your nutrients every day. It should say, if using coco every day or soil once or twice a week.. You won't need as much say if you are giving a 1 or twice a week feed with soil, a 500ml feed once or twice a week with soil is fine be sure to follow up with soft water flushes (no run off) with coco you wanna be feeding every day and doing a hard flush, (with lots of run off) to wash away any salts, as coco is inert it doesn't get toxic as quick as coco. Feel free to DM me. Idk about the PH of that. I use a similar product, well similar line, biocanna rhizotonic and the PH is crazy. Idk what PH that stuff holds but I do know them nutrients are organic and you can get away with using more than synthetic nutrients. Just be mindful of the ppm and how you get there with what you have. Happy growing.

Hey Thanks for the comments. To clarify on the light, it was included in a kit from Amazon - it was advertised at 600w but I think the actual power is 220w or something like that. I have a MarsHydro TS1000 (2022 Update) on order which I will probably change to once delivered. I'm still trying to get my head around all this..

Only the cotyledon leaves seem damaged! I wouldn't worry too much - it will be fine :D One thing is, perhaps, to raise the light by 5-10cm, as the curls are either from something with the pH or it being too moist at the roots or - more likely - the light is a little intense and the air humidity a bit low. It'll also help it to stretch out a bit, as the first growth is quite low (unless that's what you're going for) This lowness seems a trait from the ruderalis that makes the auto. Every plant is different - even within the same strain - same as every living thing. It won't hurt the other one you have going to raise the light a little! :D Good luck! Stay positive and the plant will pick up on this and also stay positive - they're very sensitive to these things..! :D

@@Teh_Saccade, Thanks for the reply & positive vibes. You must have read my mind as I have just adjusted the height of the light &. lowered intensity to about 60%. Humidity is averaging 70% at the moment. Checked it tonight when I got home & it's already looking better.

looking at your diary, Would you be alright with me offering some pointers? So cannabis plants LOVE heat and humidity. It is the buds that hate it. In veg we want to take advantage of this fact to help our plants grow along much quicker and more vigorously. In veg we can look for temps of 79-84 MAX with lights on & no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. If we allow for too much temperature swing between lights on and lights off while the plant is still growing vertically up to day 20 of flower, We will cause the plant to stretch ALOT which we do not want. So in veg & early flower, Keeping our temperature gaps nice and close between lights on and off is key. Utilizing humidity in our rooms during veg will also help out a lot with more rapid growth but we must introduce it properly. In our rooms we have our temperature and humidity set-points, But when we combine those 2 it forms a third set-point which is the most important & that is called VPD, Vapor pressure deficit. I strongly recommend every new grower or old grower who has not learned it yet, To study and understand it & implement it into your room, Logging your numbers daily. https://cerescann.com/importance-of-measuring-vpd/ For soil, We generally want to go for a PH of 6.1. This website does a GREAT job of illustrating it with a nice graph & very good detailed explanation for soil. https://autoflowerseedshop.com/cannabis-ph-chart-guide/ As we briefly touched on before, During veg & early flower we want our temperature gap's nice and tight to avoid stretch. Why exactly our plants stretch in response to this is a genetic trigger being activated by the environmental stress essentially telling the plant the end of the season is closer than it really is. In veg & early flower the plant is still in its first stage of development which is to grow up wide and tall so when it produces seed, It can cast them out nicely. Remember, Whether we are growing our plants for seed or bud their genetic responses do not change as they gh sidedo not know any different. Once the plant has finished that first stage of growth by weeks 4-6 of flower with most strains, It is by day 20 of flower. Autoflowers you have to watch for it, But once the plant has finished this goal its new mission is to focus 100% on producing nice big flower clusters & to get very sticky so it can attract pollen to it successfully. So once that vertical growth is finished, We actually now want to begin to expose our plants to larger temperature swings between lights on and lights off. This will help activate that genetic response and allow us to draw out the most potential from the strain utilizing the plants genetic triggers to environmental stresses at the right times. We can also take this a step further with doing light deprivation in the last 2 weeks using less light to simulate cloud cover. Very cold feed temps on the last flush is very good too. If you do not have them already, Get yourself a good PAR meter & thermal laser temp gun to monitor your plant top temperatures & optimize how much light your plants are getting. We are currently in the middle of producing a very comprehensive tutorial series for everybody to learn from & understand how to grow the highest level craft cannabis all on their own. If this interests you please check out our youtube and subscribe. The first 2 episodes are out the next one is coming in a few days. If you should ever have any questions or need any help, Please feel free to follow my profile and shoot me a DM. I will gladly help you with the pull down & make sure you get the best quality harvest possible as it is the most important step of the entire process. Good luck my friend!

It looks like a very professional setup you have there, my dude! You're really going to town with the technical side of things, huh? I'm sure you have everything you need to cope with every eventuality, and that the crop you bring in will most definitely offset the cost of this startup after only these two here..! :D // woah..! 600w..! In my country, that would cost for 20hrs ... hmmm 20*60=12,000 so 12Kw/h for one cycle, [6*25=150]+[6*12=72]= 2.22 in USD = 3 a day..! So for 60 days, that's gonna cost 180 for the light to run..! The materials like soil and stuff, call that 30, the pots and tent, maybe 200, the seeds maybe 20 = 250 setup + 180 light running + 20 additional = 450 for 2 plants, so 225 each. In my country, that 225 is what only 1 oz of weed costs, thereabouts - so as long as you harvest 1 oz of bud from each plant - you are doing good! hahah :D Then everything after that is gravy! :D

@The_Saccade, I think most reputable light brands are fairly transparent with their numbers nowadays. These kinds of "happy numbers" are usually found in cheaper and older lights. I don't know any exact details about this light but the fact that it has fans indicates that it is a couple of generations old. Most new lights are in a bar style while the generation before was quantum boards such as the Mars Hydro TS-1000, but the LED lights in the generation before the boards often had fans such as this light.
Teh_Saccade
Teh_Saccadecommented3 years ago
@love_2_grow, Haha! Ahhh yeah! OK! :D That makes more sense! So, output 600w! I was kinda thinking that it was overkill, then I thought of the cost, and ... well - thanks for clearing that up, Love2Grow! :D It would be an oven in there, unless it had the fans going 24/7 also, which would add another few kw/h per day to the running cost! I wish that the LED light manufacturers were a bit more on the ball with what they advertise with their lights - I mean... the Marshydro TS-1000 I use actually does pull the 150w that it states (153w max) and rates at 2.3umol/j, which is a more handy measurement since I don't have the kit to test that, but it's given a lot in the more techy plant-to-space-to-light charts available :)
love_2_grow
love_2_growcommented3 years ago
@@Teh_Saccade, I'm pretty sure that isn't a true 600W light though. More like 600 marketing watts ;) A real 600 W light in such a small tent would be insane (HEAT!) and you could only run it at a fraction of its power, which would mean it would be pointless to even put such a light in the tent in the first place.

Hey bro. Nice grow. Just a tip. I just got sponsored by mars and have been checking out their lights They really work better when closer during pre flowering/flowering period as a higher ppfd makes for denser and better bud quality move to 30cm away. It's a bit late now for there to be a massive dif but if when you grow again grow at 30cm away during pre flower and you'll see a big dif in bud quality. Good luck.
