Grow Questions

Sanlight told me I should use it dimmed at 80% and 45cm when in flowering. I was aiming to reach lower buds so I put it at 100% and 50cm from the upper buds. The tips of the leaves are slightly burned but no bud bleaching yet like my last run (at 100% 45cm). What's best ? Thx !

i'd raise it a bit rather than dimming. the cost difference is minimal in this context and more photons bouncing around will potentially hit lower areas better, i'd assume. other factors are relveant too.. a bit more warmth (to a point) can help mitigate extra light. A little more RH to offset any excess evaporation (see "VPD" vaper pressure deficit). or add some co2 and control temps/rh etc... so, yo may find you still need to adjust an inch or 3 even after you map this out for future reference. it's all relative... so, if you find a max dLI over 18 hours, it'll handle the same DLI in bloom over 12 hours == 150% more intense light over 12 hours on canopy one way or another. (along with vpd, good about daily light integral too - DLI) inverse square law applies when increasing height. if you double the distance, it is 1/4 of previous intensity. it spreads out quickly in all directions every inch added. it usually won;t take a large adjustment unless something incredibly bad is going wrong.

I just receive it as a present. Probably not a fem, but nothing is indicated, no flowering times, no terpene type, no genetic cross info and breeder won't answer. Can't find anything with those initials on their website and I don't know what the 9 stands for. Any idea ? Thx !

got to give them more time to reply, they sometimes take up to two weeks to answer an email. Customer support in the canna industry is not a stable item for most companies. I would also try hitting up their social media pages they can be better monitored then a generalized inbox/help form, as sad as that is. Good Luck!

6 or 7 days of flushing at 0.3 EC and leaves are still not yellowing. I fed them almost all run at 1.15 including 0.4 nutes from tap water which seems quite weak to me but they wouldn't eat more. I've been told from 4 to 15 days for a good flush in hydro. What's your experience ?

About 10 days before harvest I bring the feed down to .8 and see how she reacts. Typically I bring the EC down to .5-.6 by harvest time. (DWC) There have been 2 studies that show flushing is ineffective in reducing the nutrient concentration in buds. Not sure of the obsession of killing your plants before harvest. A dying plant is more susceptible to bud rot, WPM and pests. So keep them healthy and happy all the way through. https://atrium.lib.uoguelph.ca/xmlui/handle/10214/12125 https://www.rxgreentechnologies.com/rxgt_trials/flushing-trial/

1. The size of the pots (3L but plants are 70cm). 2. They streched too much during veg & I have to many plants (12 in 40x90cm) 4. I didn't prune & defoliate enough at the base of the plants 5. I pruned too much on top 6. Pk at the wrong time Nxt time i'll use 2 extra 20w Leds

Buds. Not fattening

1) Yes, this is a problem. Your plants are rootbound, more than likely. My rule of thumb on up-potting is once you see roots pushing out of the drainage holes, up-pot immediately. 2) No, that's not the problem. 3) Yes. Believe it or not, defoliation and lollipopping are pretty important. It helps the plant focus on areas you want it to grow, while not having to push energy and nutrients to flarfy bud locations under your canopy. 4) Nah, I doubt it was this. The only ways it could be this is if you picked off potential sugar leaves while the plant is budding, or if you removed potential bud nodes while you defoliated. 5) Yes. You want to give your plant a hardy amount of nitrogen and potassium while it is in veg, along with the proper amount of micro and trace nutrients. My npk is usually around 8-5-8 for feeding in veg. It's at 2-13-10 throughout flowering. Notice, I use hardly any nitrogen during flower. That's because the plant will keep trying to grow bigger and use that nitrogen, instead of building buds and focusing on fattening them up. I hope this helps.

I saw pics and setup looked similar to my very first one. You can tell first hand, but from pics, I feel there hasnt been enough air flow (does wonders mate) , expose em to a bit of wind so they move about a little. that alone will increase the yield hugely. Its all a learning curve right wish you best of luck for future 👍
