Seed Junky Genetics: LA Kush Cake

Been watching this genius breed some of the most killer weed in the USA for a couple of years through Instagram. Harvest photos from legit compassion growers show heavily frosted nuggets. Yields are middle ground in size but even fan leafs are covered in haze.... I can only hope my mediocre skills and equipment can make some good plants. This is a pack of 12 feminized seeds, 2 of which I will be popping to share a tent with Gorilla Girl seeds from Sweet Seeds. La Kush Cake is a cross of Kush Mints x Wedding Cake which are creations of Seed Junky Genetics JBreezy Wish me luck :)

Kush Cake 1 is growing strong. The 2nd seed was started a few days afterward, she is not doing as well for unknown reasons but is still alive for now.

I noticed yellowing of the lower leaves a few days back and was kind of confused because in the past my PPM was fine for "small plants/seedlings". At this size there should have been no problems. What I did not account for was the underground root zone I was growing this time because of the "RAW" beneficial spores and bacteria powder I added. Pleasantly surprised when I transplanted to 3gal pots from the red solo starter cups to see such a packed root zone!!!! I powdered the roots with Advanced Nutrients Tarantula and stuck them into the final home base of ProMix HP mixed with around 25%Perlite for added lightness. I prefer a dryer mix and can water more often when needed. Its easy to take care of such a small grow room

I had to top her this week because she was stretching higher than other plants in the tent. Took around 3 inches off and some very bottom growth. She looks super healthy still 24 hours later and should have no issues flipping to flower.

12/12 lighting for 4 days now, there is a stretch happening Hit her with all bloom nutes and rootzone beneficials Looks very healthy, no burns Added in Bloom LEDs for more reds

Wow she is stretching. I hoped that the bud ignitor would help prevent this along with the top pinch I did 2 weeks ago. I did some heavy defoliation, took the bottom branches off and pinched many bottom bud sites off. She is budding very strong and is super healthy..

Saw the Advanced Nutrients salesman who gave me a bottle of Voodoo Juice :):):) The structure of this plant is beautiful. I wish I had a room full. Light penetrates deep. She is very healthy and budding well. I think the stretch has stopped now. THere is a tiny amount of frosting starting. The PPM is sort of high but I see no burns or stunting.. Wish so little community groing these genes it is hard to get any info about them.

12/12 still . 375W COB leds and 200W Bloom leds. I added one EXHALE CO2 bag that is based on mycelial mass (fungi) today. This beauty is packing on trichomes unlike anything I have grown, remarkable for day 21 of flower. Internode spacing is beginning to fill in with flower. She looks as good as or better than internet photos I have seen of Kush Cake at this age

Day28 of flowering 375w Rapidled COBs + 200w Mars Hydro bloom LEDs Hung Exhale CO2 bag but I have no meter to measure production with. This plant is growing buds slowly but is throwing frost very well. She has at least 40more days before harvest so I am not worried at all. Quality over Quantity for me :) The stems and brances are very strong and I see no signs of issues at all right now

Day35 flowering She is filling in, growing but slowly. Tric production is higher than my other plants. This plant should go at least 64 days of flower so I am not worried about yield. Although there is less foliage than other plants she seems to dry out quicker Internet photos of all Seed Junky Genetics are insane... I can hardly wait for the finish line!!!!

Day42 of flower. Buds are still filling in slowly. She is really starting to smell now, like burnt sugar. She is getting heavier and I will have to put some bamboo sticks in this week to hold her upright. I really love the structure of the buds and how the stalks look like striped straws. Everything seems normal.....

Day49 flowering. I found a tiny site of 3male pollen pods on the underside of a lower bud a couple of days back. It had already released and was dry. She seems to be still swelling up so I may give a few more days of nutrients but lay back on the nitrogen. I need to think of finishing now and want to do a long fade with Flawless Finish. Trichome production looks great. There is a heavy scent of melon fruit and gas. Day 50: Flush my pot out until runoff was around 300ppm. Going to wait a few days for the soil to dry then feed only Flawless Finish

Day56 flowering I obvisouly need a new camera and better lighting for photos because I just cant do this plant justice trying to take pics like this. I also need a veg space for clones/mother plants because after this plant is gone I probably will be sad I do not have a cutting of it and will have to start from seed again and never get another pheno as beautiful as this one again. LA Kush Cake is fading to purple leaves now and some calyxes too. She has frost all over her, even the fan leaves have frost. The undersides of the sugar leaves are covered in frost. Trics are everywhere. You cannot even brush past this plant without stinking like it for half an hour....and it smells DELICIOUS!!!!! I want to EAT IT... Melons, Grapefruit,Cake Batter, Nutty. I snipped a lower bud off for a tester today. She will run at least another 7 days because it looks like she isnt giving up at all yet. The large fans I left at the bottom are still green eventhough its been a week of under 300ppm and now Flawless Finish. I certainly dont want to cut it early and have a shitty burn of nutes in my mouth. Very happy with these genetics from Seed Junky JBeezy

My Kush Cake plant is down. I'll post the "Harvest" after a week of drying It turned out beautiful, will defiantly grow this again. Tight nugget full of resin.

This was my most favorite plant to grow ever! I hit it with pretty high PPM and it delivered with massive growth and beautiful flower structure. the buds are covered in trics and are thick and solid. It smokes very creamy and gives me a strong headband tingle. I wish I had a tent full of this strain, under a trellis. It stretched, and stretched and became too tall for my tent. I had topped it and then even topped the laterals to attempt to keep it under control. It grew like crazy but those areas made BUD which cant be a bad thing :)
