Oldskool Coffeeshop Tour: Jack Herer

GreenOrganicGermany A new week begins! The little one is growing diligently and relatively quickly now. I've started placing the pot in a small bowl of water to provide the little one with water while also stimulating root growth. Additionally, I'm keeping the substrate moist with the help of a spray bottle. I plan to give her a little food for the first time towards the end of the week. Just a bit of Calmag. My water is relatively soft, so I've had issues with deficiencies in the past. This will help prevent that. I've also put together a new soil mix. I'm very curious to see how it will perform. However, I still need to be patient for a few more days; it's not strong enough to be repotted yet. Her stem finally looks significantly sturdier, and the first side branches are starting to grow. Other than that, the week is ending relatively uneventfully. I've started feeding her with a light Fish-mix solution. She's also getting a bit of Calmag regularly now. Let's see what surprises the new week brings.

GreenOrganicGermany We're starting a new week! Two days ago, I fed her for the first time. A very special moment for both of us =D This week, I will continue to give her a mild mix of Fish-mix and BioGrow. In the next few days, she will move into the big box with her roommates. There, she can get used to the stronger light. It's getting a bit cramped in my seedling box. They are moving on Wednesday. They need water every day, and now they will be fed with every watering. I've expanded the nutrient mix. She is now enjoying a mixture of 0.5ml Fish-Mix, 0.5ml BioGrow, and 0.5ml CalMag per liter. Wednesday 15.06: Today is her big day =D She's moving into the larger box with her green buddies. The soil in the now 20-liter pots is self-mixed. The base consists of 100 liters of a simple organic seedling soil from the discount store (Aldi). On top of that, there are 30 liters of coconut fibers, 10L of worm humus, about 5L of vermiculite, and 5L of perlite. Finally, 10L of mushroom compost, and it's all ready. For safety, I inoculated the soil with nematodes. I coated the root ball of the little green lady with mycorrhiza powder before planting. 16.06.2022: It seems she has handled the move to her new home quite well. She looks healthy. So this week comes to an end. I'm curious to see how she will develop in the next week. I hope to start with LST.

GreenOrganicGermany Today we start week 3. The repotting went relatively well. She seems to feel quite comfortable in her new home =D Update on 17.06.2022: Today a huge problem has arisen! We've been having a heatwave for a few days with temperatures up to 34° Celsius. That's not too tragic in itself, but my air conditioning decided to quit this morning and temperatures in my grow box are reaching up to 33° Celsius. So soon after repotting, this could be fatal for my little ladies. I will take immediate countermeasures. First, I increased the distance of the lamp to the plants to almost 1 meter. Unfortunately, my box can't accommodate more than that. Additionally, I turned the exhaust up to maximum power to counteract the lamp's temperature. In the end, I managed to reduce the temperatures to 29°. Still too high, but not in such a critical range anymore. Now I'm looking for a new air conditioner =D 17.06.2022: Today there was a foliar feeding. 19.06.2022: The temperatures are slowly going down. The little lady still looks a bit stressed, but definitely better than in the last few days. I treated her today with the BoomBoom Spray from BioTabs. I've had very good experiences with this product in the past. 20.06.2022: Today she received her first LST. I will proceed very carefully, as she is still recovering from the heatwave. Additionally, she seems to be showing slight signs of nitrogen deficiency. I fed her a compost tea with a relatively high blood meal content to counteract that. The temperatures in the grow box are now back to a stable 26° Celsius :-) 23.06.2022: She has recovered excellently! She has literally exploded in the last few days, I'm thrilled! Today she received her second LST. I opened up the canopy a bit and tied down the main stem slightly. I'm also pushing some of the larger fan leaves down with soft wire to maximize light yield. I'm slowly getting satisfied. She will probably start flowering by the end of next week.

GreenOrganicGermany 24.06.2022: Another week begins! My ladies are developing very well. They are growing quite rapidly and showing no signs of deficiencies. The LST from last week has done them good. Slowly, the side branches are starting to stretch vertically and form a nice canopy. I'm currently preparing a compost tea for my ladies. This includes compost, forest soil, plus bat guano, algae extract, bone and feeder meal, fish meal, worm and beetle poop, and so on... With this, I hope to stimulate the soil life for the upcoming flowering. For the nutrient base of the tea, I'm skipping molasses. I'm using 1ml of BioGrow per 1 liter. Its base is molasses anyway =D 25.06.2022: Today, there was a foliar feeding for the little green beauty. Her friends in the box didn't miss out either =D For this, I used the BoomBoom Spray from BioTabs. I've used it regularly in the past and achieved very good results. Unfortunately, it's relatively expensive. 01.07.2022: Today marks the end of the week. Quite uneventful, in my opinion. After a few stressful days last week, I don't mind at all. My Jack Herer lady is doing very well. She is growing quite rapidly and has a magnificent green, in my opinion. No signs of deficiencies are visible.

GreenOrganicGermany The first week of flowering begins! I already adjusted the lighting last week. Starting from July 2nd, the first signs of flowering appeared, so I linked the start of the first flowering week to this date. To initiate flowering, I tried something (new for me): I didn't change the lighting time directly from 18 to 12 hours. Instead, I reduced the lighting time by 1.5 hours each day. The main idea is to minimize stress for the plant and simulate as natural conditions as possible. I'm also considering continuing this way in the future, reducing the time by just 1 or 0.5 hours daily. I'm always looking forward to suggestions or experiences from you! Otherwise, it will probably be a rather uneventful week. I won’t be training them further. Midweek, I will feed them a fungus-dominant compost tea. This will stimulate the soil life and help them develop a strong bloom.

GreenOrganicGermany On 07/10/2022, we are starting a new flowering week. So far, they are doing quite well, but you can tell that the consistently high temperatures are taking a toll on them. We're currently dealing with another heatwave with temperatures consistently above the 30° Celsius mark. Despite all that, she is growing quite quickly and overall looks healthy. 07/13/2022: Today, there's a little treat for the Jacklady. I have fed a total of 100ml of Bat Guano as a top dressing, which is about 80 grams. I'm using the Bat Guano from Royal Queen Seeds. The whole thing is simply spread on the surface of the soil and then carefully buried underneath. Otherwise, this week was relatively uneventful and ends on 07/17/2022.

GreenOrganicGermany The new week begins as the last one ends: uneventful 😅 I don't have anything against that, as long as nothing happens, the ladies are doing well 😁 The only thing that annoys me a bit is the high temperatures. We've been plagued by a heatwave for several days now, over a week already. Of course, the beauties in my box are feeling it too. The Jack Herer seems to be particularly suffering from the high temperatures, as she constantly shows signs of stress 🙄 See the slightly curled leaf edges 😅😔 Well... I guess we have to get through it. The first flower heads are finally showing. It seems like it will turn out pretty well, but I have to wait and see how the next weeks develop. On 07/22/2022, she was fed a delicious compost tea. I hope to stimulate the soil life further and provide her with additional nutrients. I let the tea bubble for 36 hours. With these high temperatures, a longer period feels too risky.

GreenOrganicGermany The week starts without any major events. Slowly but surely, some really beautiful flower clusters are forming, which of course significantly increases the anticipation for the harvest =D The temperatures have also calmed down a bit by now. They are still not in the optimal range, but definitely lower than in the past few weeks. You can also see that the little lady is not as stressed by the high temperatures anymore.

The temperatures are slowly normalizing to a typical midsummer level =D My ladies seem to like that too, the signs of heat stress have almost completely disappeared. But it's also about time, I almost suspect this could be their last week. About 20% of the trichomes have turned an amber color. If they continue to ripen this quickly, I will harvest them sometime next week. I
