Dear readers, this is my very first grow. Not the best idea starting it during my finals because I can't stpo thinking about them. First of all the germination went normal I think. As you see they popped out nicely. This fotos were taken on day 13. I don't have quite an idea of they are growing well but my guess is that they are behind on schedule. I think it is because I didn't gave them enough light at the start (16 hours). The last thee fotos are taken on day 15 and the past 2 days ive increased the light schedule with 2 hours and my feeling is that they have grown more in this 2 days then they did before. Can someone tell his/her opinion about this? For the setup, im running this fluorescent lights, all 3 have 2200 lumen. I don't really know of this is enough. However more lights are on their way but I've also a question about that. I'm planning to add HPS lights, they come in handy in the flowering phase (with their warm-white colour) and they have 4500 lumen each. I was wondering if it matters putting them togheter with the white lights as we speak (because they will be another 3 weeks in vegetation and I'm not sure if it is "allowed" to use warm white color in this stage). Also do I have to mention that I don't know the strains of the plants, I messed those up when i put t seeds in the water for the germination LOL. However, one of them has some strange colour changing on the leafs, i looked it up but the cause can literally be everything. Can anyone help me with that? If you have any tips, feel free to let em know! Thanks!

Make sure you are using calmag as well... and that your water PH is in the 6.4-6.9 range.. that's a huge factor with leave changing. Good Luck!

First off all I realised I'm in week 4 and not 3. I am changing that when I come back from vacation. Due the vacation my grandma is curing my plants so thats why the picture are a bit weird. The plants are doing well I think, they got bigger probably because I increased the light schedule to 20 hours. The pH is 7, wich is not ideal. I know there are nutrients to fix that but the thing is all the stuff everyone is using here seems tocole from America (like call mag) and I don't know how to find the same thing here. So if anyone frol Europe knows thing like call mag or ph adjuster or grow nutrients pls send me the link. (preferavle west europe). It is stressing to have my plants at home in other people hands but I had no choice. However I'm trying to get better pictures asap. Thanks for readin!

I added this week so the day-week thing is right now. The extra light are doing my girls good they increashed a lot. I also see now the the led lights (the round shaped) are the light they need, the plant with the 2 energy saving lamps isnt going as fast. EDIT DAY 26: It's so weird cuz I'm on vacation and I don't see my plants often and suddenly I realised they are friking growing quick lol. I also see the big mistake I make going for the most lumen when only the spectrum matters. You see that the one wuth the led bulbs are growing much quicker the the one with the normal FL lights. This is an important thing I learned. I'm glad they are looking good tho.Can someone say if they are growing correctly? It seems to me there short and that they are a lot of stams near each other. Thanks!

Dear reader, I have 3 plants: the one with the blue badge is looking good but the other 2 are short in my opinion. They have lots of leaves and branches but they are like 12 cm high. Is this a problem? Solution? (Lights higher maybe?) Thanks!

That's good, they have not stretched because they receive a good amount of light and so they don't need to grow more stem. Keep in mind that what's important is that they develop nodes, leaves, side shoots, not stem. A squat plant is much better than a stretchy one, it will be easier to have a flat canopy and you will have much less risk of running out of space; LED bulbs are great for that. I invite you to visit my diaries where I'm using LED bulbs exclusively, they will give you much better results than CFL at a 25% the power draw of CFL. PRO TIP: take the plastic dome off, it will give you quite a boost in their light output.

New weekly update, some questions... Thanks for reading! The plants are doing great! Imo they seem a bit behind scheduele, the flower phase should start in a week i guess? I'm still happy, I think I'm doing fine for a first grow. Q1: Is it good for the plants giving them fresh sun in the afternoon? My scheduele is 2 hours of led before the suns comes up, after she goes down another 8 hours (20 in total). Does it help? Or are the plants confused if you mix up the light types? Q2: I know it's probably not done to do, but I don't have enough bloom spots and I'm in the middle of my exams so I don't have the time to search and buy some more. Is it bad to let a plant (only 1) flower with my "vegetation" lights" (Just normal leds and CLF)? Q3: Is it necessary to crop the plants a bit? I see a lot of growers do it but I'm scaredo fluff it lol. Any tips? Thanks for reading and answering! Happy growing! Update day 29: TROUBLE IN PARADISE Guys can someone please help me... 2 of my plants are starting to get wierd spots/yellow colouring. I Don't really know what is the problem because the other one with the purple badge still is doing great. The one with the blue always had the strange colours but now there getting worse. The one with the green badge is still doing fine but as you see some leaves have curled. Can this be because of the heat of the sun theyve got the last 2 days? It is very hot. Or could it be the extra nutrients that i gave them? The pH is around 7, maybe a bit to high but in europe I can't really find the stuff you guys are using like the ph adjusters (or calmag). Does someone have any tips or a natural solution? Day 32: WERE GETTING THERE Seems like the burnt plants from day 29 are recovering, the one with the blue badge is still looking poor but I think he's fine. However from the blue badge and the green one I'm not expecting big yields, but I don't want to give em up. The purple one is looking very good tho! Any Opinions? And btw, I have this "flowering lamp" Its and HPS type but it's old so this boi gets really hot. Does it helps for the plants to refresh them with the blower? Or doesn't is work that way? Anyway if anyone has some tips to cool the hot light, I don't know if it's possible, please comment! Thanks!

Day 36: ARE WE IN FLOWERING PHASE? My girls really stretched out this week, I guess we in flowering phase then? I moved them under my "bloom lights" (HPS). However I don't see much trichomes yet. Is this normal? Last time 2 of my girls looked burnt, one of them really recovered (green badge) but still has some marks. The other one grew a lot but the leaves are hanging down/bended altough they had enough water. Someone know why? Thanks and enjoy the pictures!

Day 36: I really underestimated the strech boys. Had to move my growbox in the air because otherwise they would get burned by my HPS lamp. The one who started getting sick has grown huge. I don't really know if that is a good thing. My preferred one (with the purple badge) is doing again the best I think. He kept small but seems to have much more branches with buds growing. Anyway, the lamp I used to flower was a huge mistake. It is to hot and it doenst cover enough space so I have to move the plants to close to each other. I hope they still manage to survive the heat because I'm currently not at home. Thanks for reading!

So this week I got some better pictures for you guys. I really hate is that the plants became so big, I really lost control and I can not really adjust the lighting etc. However 2 of the 3 plants are looking good. One of them (green badge) really has a lot of trichomes and is starting to look sticky. The buds are growing on the main stam but don't have a lot of sugar leaves? Q: Is this normal? The other one that is doing great is the one that I've always find the most beautiful (purple badge). She stayed small and the buds seem a lot more compressed. The last one (blie badge) is didn't show a lot of progress so I'm a bit worried. As you see on one of the pictures, the leaves of one of the plants are yellowing. Q: Can someone explain me why? Thanks!!

Sorry I'm late a'd sorry for the lacl of fotos, but I'm Currently in vacation. Week 10 update will be on time. Things are looking good I think. I'm a bit worried the biggest plant (GB) will not form buds properly because a lot of his leaves are light burned. I cant really solve this issue bc of the lack of space wich really sucks. I dont havr enough photos to see the if the natural solution for the nitrogen problem has worked but it seems the yellowing stopt a bit! So thanks for the help.

So this week i came home and i saw my improvised HPS lamp broke. I ordered the Mars Hydro 48 to replace it. Meanwhile i find it strange that on the BB there is almost no frost on the upper bud. Is this normal? Will it increase? Also, anyone has an idea how long until the harvest? Let me know! Thanks for reading!

So yeah I'm late again, week 12 should have started on 24/09. Anyway, look at what we got! So The plants are looking nice, however I am a bit worried that they stopped growing? I don't know if thats a thing but I don't see a lot off progress in the buds? Still a lot of long white trichomes all over them. The leaves however of plants GB and PB are turning purple wich if I'm correct means were coming close to harvest? Plant GB and BB will need some more time but I think PB is getting close right? Can someone look at the PB and take a guess? Thanks !

HARVEST HYPE! So yeah, i harvested all of 3 plants. Not sure if The roayl Jack and Bluematic were like fully ready, but ill take a more sative ish taste. The Quick one (purple colour) was surely ready and I'm hoping on a nice indica feeling. As you see, i got 3 full plates of each. The quick one yielded the most. But surely this a LOT of weed. The dried buds will be coming up next week!

THE FINAL RESULT! The Quick one yielded a nice 34 grams, the Royal Jack 19 grams and the Bluematic 17 grams. For my first time, without any training nudes and a decent growing light im pretty happy with this yield. The most beautiful buds came from the Bluematic. I want to thank evetyone who helped me and commented! Really appreciate it and I really like the community! Also thanks to RQS to sends me some new strains, that grow will start tomorrow and thi time with better equipment! Make sure to check it out! Thanks to everyone and happy growing

@MissFlowerPower420,Agreed with @bobo420 , grab a magnifier or try to make a macro shot with any smartphone that can do so and harvest based on your trichomes ratio 👍

The only thing that’s going to tell you if your flowers are ready or not is by looking at the trichomes. Looking at pistils will give you extra data and somewhat estimation of the age but the colors of trichomes are what you really need to look at. Clear trichomes: too early. Cloudy trichomes: ready and gives you the “head high”. Depends on the grower, some growers will chop it off when they only see cloudy trichomes. When you have about 20-30% amber and rest cloudy trichomes, many will consider that the “sweet spot” of chopping down. Some will wait until the amber colors are prominent which will give you the body sedation feelings. When all are amber, your flowers are getting ready to end its life cycle and probably want to bringing it down as your trichomes are degrading.

BeefWellingtonscommented6 years ago
@rien, well if you have a really good macro lens, it might work, but you can buy a magnifier with 60x zoom for 10 or 20 bucks. A jewelers lens will work too.

Noob here, how do you check if the trichomes are ready? With a magnifier? Is a phone macro lens okay for that?

@beer420, no problem!! It’s really exciting to see all that your trichomes are ready and ready to be chopped down.

@beer420,I live in the same kind of area with expenssive shipping costs , that's why I don't use a full nutrient line ! In that case you can give her compost , worm casting or nettle manure (comfrey manure is good too). And the last tips is not the cleaner : you can use piss with 9 part water for 1 part of piss , it contain planty of N (google it , it's true) 😂.

@beer420, some of it may be genetic sure. Since this is your first grow, thing should only get better. 150W FL may be a bit low for 3 plants though, I'd try putting a better light, using bigger containers and fewer plants until you get the hang of it. Also, doing a bit reading about the subject would do wonders too ;)

Lots of white pistils there, I would go at least 1 more week, if not 2. Enough time for you to acquire a cheap scope so you can look at the tricomes to be sure. You can get one for like 10 or 12 bucks (9euro) on amazon. Nice looking flowers you have!

Hello ! 1.Leaves are sharp because of the genetic , you have mostly sativa dom with ruderalis in it so the leaves will be thin like their parents ones. 2. Bigger could be better but could also not be. Your yield will theoricly be better with bigger plants but the cannopy will be way different to manage. That's just my point of view 😃👊
