Not a lot to show in the first week so I threw in a pic of Abigail :-) Germinated with paper towel in a ziploc baggie, once the tap root was about 1/4" I transferred her to a peat pellet which was placed in a solo cup with hydroton and some water and placed a clear cup over as a humidity dome. 2 days later Glenda is born! I keep the humidity dome on until the first leaves are as big as the cotyledons and then leave it off for a few hours at a time for 48 hours before leaving it off completely. In a few days I'll move into a solo cup with 50/50 coco/perlite and start watering her twice a day July 31 - transferred to half a Sunny D bottle. Once shes big enough, I'll be putting her in a hempy bucket/sub-irrigated planter hybrid with perlite and coco

Glenda is doing well in the coco, as pointless as the frequent fertigation seems at this seedling stage, they do seem to grow faster than others I started in soil at the same time. Got her new home ready, 5 gallon bucket with a drainage hole 3" from the bottom. Perlite up to the bottom of the drain, then 50/50 coco/perlite. A tube runs to the bottom for sub irrigated watering and I taped an airstone to the bottom with tubing running up to the top to attach to an air pump later on. It's not necessary but I have an extra and I'm curious if it will make a difference.

The hempy/hydro hybrid is working fantastic, Glenda is thriving and growing as fast as any plant I've had before in my short time growing. Shes outgrowing her roommate that started at the same time, is in the same coco/perlite mix but is in a 5 gallon fabric pot and being fertigated twice daily. Glenda uses much less nute solution and is growing about 25% faster Aug 19 - topped her above 3rd node

Glenda is doing well tho she doesnt look as good as she used to after being prepped for mainlining, just the two lonely shoots left now (Aug 25) Haven't tied them down yet, letting them grow a little more first

Going day to day, her growth doesnt seem great until I see the pics from the previous week, that helps put it in perspective :-) not to mention I've been constantly fucking with her with pruning, trimming and training. Now that shes down to the two main shoots I'm gonna let her grow out a little bit to HST the shoots down and probably manifold rather than mainline depending on the waiting list for the flowering tent

Some leaves look to be showing early Mg def discoloring so I bumped up the calmag. The hybrid setup is working great, the fan leaves grow huge and I couldn't resist trimming them which led me to start pruning the 2nd nodes which led me to doing some training which led to the improvised trellis. I don't think its permanent, too low to be useful long term but it's working great to bring some order to the unruliness of nature

Looks like I got a little carried away with the mainline pruning, I accidentally removed the 2nd, 3rd and half of the 4th node of one shoot instead of just the 2nd and 4th nodes. D'oh! I've decided to try fluxing Glenda. I should be able to keep the manifold nice and flat with the holes drilled in the side of the bucket. I won't have room for Glenda in the flowering tent until early-mid October so I've got time to get her trained.

Glenda is doing well, I think I got the Mg deficiency under control, new leaves dont have the slight yellowing between veins. She's gonna be a little lopsided with my ham-handed pruning but I'll just move the tops around to make even coverage once they start growing. Another week and a half or so in the veg tent.

Missed a week....moved Glenda into the 12/12 tent at the start of the month....she's doing great, I'm sold on the sub-irrigated/hempy/hydro hybrid, the growth is fantastic and the water usage is perfect, I just top her up every morning, never waste any water or nutes. I'm not certain the air pump helps but it definitely doesn't hurt

Got this discoloration on the tips and edges of some leaves. Believe it or not, I've never had nutrient burn before so I'm not sure if that's what it is. If so, flush with ph'd water?

Yes its a burn, but fresh one, previously you were not overfeeding, girl color is good. In coco only right way is to flush with ROOM temperature, 5.9-6.0 ph, 3x amount of pot size, so prepare sponges for run off, buckets for collecting and so on. I would highly recomend to add 0.25-0.5 ml/L calmag to last 2 liters. Next watering give 25% strenght feed of recommend dose by your nute company schedule. If she takes, aka pots dry out regularly and normally - you can return to full feed schedule, just maybe do feed/feed/plain water cycle in the future.

Seem to have the nutrient burn under control, spotted it early and started watering with ph'd water...since there is no reservoir change, what u think happened is she drank more water than nutrients causing it to become more concentrated leading to over feeding.....diluting the reservoir at the bottom of the bucket seems to have worked, gonna alternate between nute and plain water going forward

Did a major defoliation and pruning last night, I love cleaning these girls up and watching how fast she recovers...I tried returning Glenda to regular feeding, thinking that the reservoir solution should be diluted by now but she quickly showed nute burn again. So first now, back to nutes in the morning, plain pH'd water at night. Switched to GH Florabloom, it seems a little more cost efficient than AN and most growers seem to love it

Found these little fuckers on two clone cuttings taken from Glenda. Immediately bagged and tossed both of them. They were on a leaf stem on both, one leaf had turned yellow. Careful inspection of all plants in the same space found no more. What are they and how fucked am I?

While I respect Creepy_Steve, BTi goes after leaf CHEWERS, not leaf SUCKERS... get some Dr. Zymes or Spinosad if you can (I know there's controversy in Canada about Spinosad but I think it's the only country in the world that does not recognize it as being organic).... Again, either of these can be used no matter what stage your plant is in - and can be used up to the day of harvest without any ill effects/tastes being transferred to your smoke....

Fucking aphids.....they were everywhere, on every single plant in two separate tents....apparently ontario has something against pesticides so I had to settle for safers insecticidal soap....it killed the aphids but the corpses are still there, I'll be spraying with water until they dont look diseased anymore On the up side, Glenda doesn't seem to have suffered any from her invaders but it couldn't have helped

Fucking aphids....sprayed Glenda a second time, 6 days after the first...I didnt see any on her but did find shed aphid skins and some live little bastards on one of Glenda's tent mates....its hard to know if/how much they affected the poor girl, she seems ok but I'm afraid I'll wind up with sad wimpy little underdeveloped buds :-(

The aphids continue to be a presence, although I havent seen more on Glenda, she got another spraying since I found some on one of her tentmates. She doesnt seem harmed by the aphids or the spray, I think if they have an adverse effect, it'll be the buds not swelling and that will make me sad :-(

Switched Glenda to plain water, I'll likely chop her right at 8 weeks. Shes a aphid haven eight now, I dont want to spray and ruin the buds but shes just gonna spread them to the other girls until shes out. Despite the bloodthirsty little fuckers, she looks frosty and smells divine.

She'll be 8 weeks of flowering on Wednesday so I'll be chopping her sometime in the week after. Amazing crystals on the buds, they look promisingly potent altho I still can't seem to grow any really big buds...not ideal but acceptable - I'm still working with basic nutes and settling on preferred strains and grow method/medium to establish a reproducible baseline. Then I can start making tweaks to discover improvements. This will be the last post before harvest - the sooner I can clear out my flowering tent, the sooner I can eliminate the fucking aphids- with extreme prejudice!
