Started Germination on 8/7/22. 14 Hours in water glass from 7 AM until 9 PM. Transition to paper towel at 9 PM. Tap roots were planted at 7 PM 8/8/2022.
First Grow Ever Notes:
Seed broke soil on 8/11. Have been giving water when the soil looks dry on top, and trying to keep the humidity in the 70% range. The humidifier is running out of water early, and when the lights go on there is low humidity which is why the pics have humidity in the high 50s. Did not include any amendments this week, but plan on using Cal-Mag and Fox Farm Big Bloom next week. I have been PHing the water to 6.4-6.6, but have not been apply that much water. I am hoping that the feeding will provide the lower PH going forward.
Overall, the plants seem to be doing really well. Between the two, the back plant is wider (likely due to more air from the fan) and it is growing quicker. I am looking to up the Big Bloom to 15 Ml/G (only half of the Fox Farm dosage on the feeding program because this is an auto). LST will begin in Week 3, the back plant already has some nodes that are blocked and need more sunlight. I am also hoping it will spread out the front plant as it is still narrow, but progressing well.
Plants are continuing to grow well! Tried to do some LST and did not last long. I am looking to focus on it this week. There was a heat wave in SoCal so the temps were up a little bit. Upped the nuts for this week, and will add Grow Big next week.
Plants are doing well! The heatwave has made it difficult, and the a/c has been able to keep the tent in the mid 80s. Have been doing minimal LST, but have not been able to apply any real techniques.
First week of flower and the ladies are drinking water like crazy. The lower leaves started to yellow and I had to go to watering them daily. Adding more water fixed the issue and now they are moving along quickly. I have been removing some of the fan leaves that are blocking bud sites, but wont do a large defoliation until a little later.
Temps have returned to normal after the heat wave. The dehumidifier, and duct fan with carbon filter have been able to lower the RH to more reasonable levels for flower (58-66 RH). The ladies have required tons of water, but have begun to shoot upward. Really looking forward to the next few weeks of flower
Buds keep forming and progressing. I am defoliating each night when I water/feed so that the buds get better exposure. Humidity has been tricky but the plants have been doing well nonetheless.
Moved the front plant to the back due to the light advantage it has had over the the 8 weeks. Hoping this will help the back plant grow evenly as well. I have continued to defoliate every day when watering or feeding. Having to manage humidity a little bit more and has been on the high side. Next run I will likely get a better dehumidifier just due to the local climate.
Humidity is much easier to control this week. The local temps have gone down, and I have only had to use the fan from the A/C instead of the full unit. This allows me to close up all the open vents, and just use the carbon filter/fan and additional plug-in fans. I have noticed some yellowing and and spots on leaves lower in the canopy. I am assuming this is from low lighting, as the top and middle of the canopy are doing well. Next go around I am hoping to have a little more space in the tent, as I will not need the A/C unit. This will allow me to do more LST, and open up the canopy a little more.
Plants are taking longer than anticipated. I think it is mainly due to the 7 gallon pots. It took a little longer for the roots and everything to grow due to the size. One mistake that I made is not recalibrating my PH meter. I though the yellowing was due to the low light in the middle of the canopy earlier in the grow, but it was a PH imbalance. I was able to recalibrate, and I am hoping this will fix the issue.
The plant that was initially in the front, and was moved to the back has been growing faster, and is showing more purple leaves. It looks like it will be ready earlier, but we will see. It will be nice to see the plants frost up the next two weeks.
1 more week to go! First grow and you definitely learn a lot. I am still hoping to get good yields even though my second plant looks like it didn't get as much sun light. The back plant has definitely developed, and has a good smell, and frost to it. Looking to start another run after these are done and harvested. Might get into pressing some of the trim and lower flowers for wax.
