Hey now, so I am going to run this planet of the grapes back in a 12.5 gallon container and compare the results with the last run which was completed in a 5.4 gallon container. I popped 2 beans in a glass of water this morning, and I will tranplant them to solo cups, then to 3.4 gallon containers to build the mainline, then the final home will be the 12.5 gallon container. I will be giving one of these plants away and keeping one as I only have a 4X4 tent and can only fit one mainline in there. Everything else will be identical to the first run, same lighting, same nutes, same feeding schedule, light schedule etc. Super excited to see if the larger root mass can lead to fatter colas. I got just under 2 pounds on the last run, and I am hoping for a Kilo off this one. Thanks for stopping by, stay safe and Blaze On!
I started both seedlings in a glass of water for 24 hours, then a wet paper towel for another 24 hours, until they had a 1/4 inch tail, then I planted them each in a solo cup using Pro Mix seedling starter mix. They both popped the next morning, and I am only watering them every three days or so with a small syringe and I try to water very slowly just around the outer edges of the solo cup. I have found it is easy to overwater seedlings. I also made alot of holes in the solo cups to promote drainage and air flow. I also like to keep the humidity up around 70% to help them absorb moisture through the leaves until the roots are further developed. The plan is to transplant them in another 7-10 days into 3.4 gallon containers, and then complete the first topping within a few days after that. Once I feel the roots are starting to fill out the container, I will transplant to a final 12.5 gallon container. I will begin prepping the coco coir this week, by flushing it, and then pre-soaking it in a cal mag solution of 2.0 EC. I will soak it for a couple days, then flush it again and mix with perlite when the seedlings are ready. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, stay safe and Blaze On!
Hey now, this week went well. they are both in Pro-Mix seedling starter mix, and I am watering them with a small syringe about every 2-3 days, based on how heavy the solo cups are. I have found it is very easy to overwater seedlings that do not have established root systems yet so I strongly suggest going by the weight of the container to determine when to water. I also suggest watering slowly around the edges of the container to encourage the roots to expand to the outside edges, so when you transplant to a bigger container, you have a root-ball that is ready to explode in all directions. I will transplant them both later this week closer to day 21 once I feel the root mass is outgrowing the solo cups, into 3.4 gallon airpots with coco coir mixed with perlite. I flushed the coco coir earlier this week, and it is currently soaking in an H2O mixture with 2.0 EC of Cal-Mag with a PH of 6.5. I will soak it for a few days then flush it down with plain water to around .4 EC, and then mix with perlite before transplanting the seedlings. I strongly recommend pre-treating your grow medium to whatever nutes you have been previously feeding your seedlings, so there is no transplant issue. I will start feeding both plants from an automatic feeding reservoir once I transplant them to the airpots. I built a gravity fed drainage system, that automatically removes runoff from the grow tent and this is crucial to a self contained setup, if you want to set one up and need help hit me up. I am also shooting a time lapse of this grow so I will post some videos later on once I get some more footage. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, staying safe, and Blazing On!
Hey now....This week went pretty good, I transplanted both seedlings from solo cups to 3.4 gallon airpots on day 16, and I also began high frequency fertigation that same day. I am running lights from 12AM to 6PM, and I feed at lights on and every 5 hours after that. Nutes are Silica, Cal Mag, and Maxi Gro with an EC of about 1.2 and a PH of 5.9ish. I am planning to top them both this week probably around day 25ish to the 3rd node, once I feel the roots are strong enough to bounce back instantaneously to the topping. I will start training the mainline within 24-48 hours of the topping as long as they respond well to the topping. I am still only running a 100 Watt Led light for them, but I am thinking about running a 400watt Super Metal Halide Bulb just to build the manifold, then switch over to LED's for flower. I did squeeze some of the bubble hash from the first planet of the grapses run, and all I can say is wow.....it truly tastes amazing and will absolutely put someone on all fours. So far so good with these two little ladies, I hope everyone is having a great weekend, thanks for stopping by and Blaze On!!!
Hey now, I hope everyone is having a great weekend! These two ladies had a great week, I ended up switching from the 100 Watt LED light to a 400 Watt Super HPS bulb on day 22. I really love these HPS bulbs for Veg especially when building mainlines because they do an excellent job of building thick stems that will be able to support massive colas, they do put out a ton of heat so they are better suited for cooler temps outside the tent.....The nodes typically grow about a half inch apart with this setup so if you are looking for a tall and leggy plant with minimal bud sites avoid these lights. I also topped these ladies on day 24 and they responded instantaneously with vigorous growth as I allowed the roots to fully develop as the plants were pushing thier 7th node at topping.... I also cleaned the reservoir this week with a mixture of bleach and water as well as cleaning the airstones and feeding pump, I do this once per week to avoid mold/funk/etc, I also add some food grade hydrogen peroxide to my reservoir to slow the process I began LST training on day 27, I just start by tying the two mains to the fan leaves immediately below them, then I will attach them to the sides of the container later this week, along with pinching/crushing the stems with my fingers. I also prepped 4 bricks of coco coir this week for the transplant which will take place in a couple weeks, As I was looking at the 12.5 gallon container, I realized it is going to take quite a bit of coco to fill that out. I will be giving the other plant away to a friend, and will see what I can do with these genetics in a 12.5 gallon container. I hope everyone stays safe and has a great weekend, Blaze On!!!
Hey now, hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend. Not much to be done this week, I did some LST just trying to keep the 2 mains as flat as possible. They are pushing their fifth node, and that is where i will top them as soon as I can, probably in a day or two. Most people top their mainlines at the 3rd node for the second topping, however I like a wider bush, and also when using a Metal Halide Bulb it causes the nodes to grow extremely close together, but also creates super thick stems capable of producing massive colas. I will do the next toppings at the 3rd nodes, and then the final toppings at the 1st node. I have my coco coir ready to roll for the transplant into the 12.5 gallon container, but that will take place in about 10-12 days or so based on how she grows and responds to training. I made another batch of Canna Sugar this week, it is amazing....I just decarb then soak about a Quarter Pound of flower in everclear for a few months, then strain it over sugar and stir it occasionally, until all the alcohol evaporates which takes a few days....Great in your morning coffee....Thanks for stopping by, stay safe and Blaze On!
Hey now, this week went pretty well, I did get the second toppings completed on day 39, and then I started LST on new growth on day 41. I have one more topping and I will wait to top at the 3rd node so I can spread her out a bit and try to fill the entire 4X4. After that the final topping will be done on the 1st nodes and spread out a little through LST. I am Still feeding the same, running a 400W MH Bulb 18/6, and feeding the same silica/cal mag/maxi gro. I am probably going to transplant later this week to her final 12.5 Gallon home and give the other plant away to a friend who is super excited to get it. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, be safe and Blaze On!
Hey now, this week went according to plan. I transplanted her to a 12.5 gallon container on Monday, and she started showing love for her new environment within 24 hours. I am still spreading out the secondaries, and will top them here in the next day or two, then there will be one set of topping left within 48-72 hours after that as she is starting to grow like a weed now that she has a nice root setup. Super excited to compare the bud growth and density with the same genetics I ran last time in a 5.4 gallon container compared to the 12.5. I hope everyone has a great halloween with more treats than tricks, unless you prefer the latter, be safe and blaze on!!!
Hey now, so I got the final toppings completed about 5 days ago, I started LST the day after topping and will continue for another week or two and then switch them to 12/12 on LED's and let them do their thing. She is still growing slow but sturdy, with extremely tight inter-nodal spacing and very thick and sturdy stems/structures. I am thinking about staying with the MH bulb for a couple more weeks and then making the transition either when she outgrows the footprint of the bulb, or when it's time to flip to flower. Either way, probably only gonna be a few more weeks.....Hope everyone is having a great weekend, be safe and BLAZE ON!!!!!
This week went well, still on an 18/6 light cycle with the Metal Halide and feeding veg nutes with cal mag and armor si. I will probably flip to 12/12 in about two weeks or less. Thanks for stopping by, be safe and blaze on!
Hey now, hope everyone had a great holiday, the POG (PIG) is doing well, i just flipped her to 12/12 this week. I was out of town so I did not have much time to make any videos but hopefully I will have more time next week. Enjoy the rest of the rest of the weekend and Blaze On!
Hey now, been out of town alot with work so I haven't been around much to shoot photos or make videos. She is definitely doing well though because she pretty much runs on an automated system. She is still feeding 4 times per day and whenever I make it home I clean and re-fill the reservoir and so some defoliation. I actually put a large dehumidifier in the tent to keep the humidity down as even with the lighting and AC infinity exhaust running on 6, the humidity was still in the low 60s RH. With the dehumidifier running on low I am able maintain in the 40's RH. Bud rot is an absolute killer and since I only grow one plant per year, something I can't afford. Be safe and Blaze On!
This week went well, she is just starting to form a few flowers but nothing much yet. She is starting to drink around 5 gallons per day and I had to put a small dehumidifier in the grow tent to keep the humidity down. Other than that she is doing well and I am excited to see what happens in a few weeks. Thanks for stopping by, be safe and blaze on!
This little lady is turning out to be a piglet just like her sister. She is drinking so much I though I had a leak in my auto drainage system because I came after a few days out of town and the 32 gallon reservoir was almost empty but so was my drain bucket outside the tent. I opened the tent expecting it to be soaking wet on the floor but there was not a drop of water, so I had to up her watering to 5 gallons per day to even get a quart of runoff. I also had to remove the mini dehumidifier and replace it with a full size dehumidifier to keep the tent under 50% RH. I also have a full size dehumidifier running outside the tent and it is keeping the RH at around 40% outside the grow tent. She is starting to smell very nice and grapey, not overpowering yet when you open the tent, but I feel like in a few weeks she will definitiely be there. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a wonderful new years. Be safe and Blaze On!
Second run with these genetics, I ran her last time in a 5.4 gallon container, I got the grape pheno, higher yield with the first run, but much tighter nugs with this run. This one smells much more earthy/gassey and less grapey. I ended up with just under 26 zips of nugs, 2 zips of Larf which I will turn into canna sugar, and my buddy made a 35 gram brick of bubble from the trim. It should be dry in the next few days and I'll post a video of the squeeze, hoping to get around a zip of rosin which I will split with him since he turned the bubble...Super excited to squeeze some nugs once the cure is done, Ill post vids of them as wel. Next run I'm planning to try and cram 2 plants inside a 5X5, build mainlines, and flip by week 6 or 7....Switching to two 315 W CMH bulbs up top, and LED's on 2 of the sidewalls for supplemental lighting. Looking forward to it, stay safe, blaze on!
