Happy with the growth. Excited to see what these aggressive little ladies can do! Finished up the first of 2 DIY c02 generators. This is the steady release version. Takes a 405ppm tent and rose it to above 800 within 24 hours. Water+Sugar+Yeast. Super easy, so far seems to be spot on. Version 2 soon.
Learned that; even though there isn't heat...this Samsung will burn the brakes right off these ladies. Had to back it off a bit. Leaf discoloration was fixed quickly. c02 Generator is still going strong. Just recharging the sugar every 2-3 days. I'll have to change out the entire mix in the next few days to avoid mold. Got my fans finally.
Ladies are finally recovered from the light burn (face palm) ...yeah, my bad. Started to lightly defoliate, start some LST this weekend. Started some big bloom & grow big with the Epsom salts. c02 is still kickin like a champ.
Only the Skywalker x Double Grape (freebies) are struggling to recover from the light burn. I plan to start ramping the nutrient concentrations this weekend. The c02 generator has been refilled, still goin strong. Sitting around 950ppm. I might add a second one when I introduce them to cold at night. We shall see. ✌️🌱
Had an excellent week of recovery. The 4 big pots are almost back to normal, the 3 smaller pots were moved out to the greenhouse for a fun temperature experiment as I definitely picked too small of pots...live and learn. The little SkyWalker x Double Grape is still on the struggle bus, but I'm sure I'll get her feeling better soon. I almost have their watering schedule down. That light burn made them all drink in wildly varied intervals. Fingers crossed; I think we're all drinking regularly again. Topped the big SWxDG in the tent, and finished up some final LST. Pretty happy with the canopy so far, these auto's are a trip. The Grizzly Crinkle is really fun to LST, she responds incredibly well, so does the SWxDG (if you keep her healthy). I'll probably leave them from here with some light defoliation when needed. ✌️🌱
Wonderful week! The 2 smaller pots I had to move to the greenhouse recovered perfectly; Double Grape & Super Orange Haze. The super leggy SWxDG has been chosen for pollen. Started spraying her down with colloidal silver, and some nice small pollen sacks are starting to form. Planning to breed her with one of my other autos. Maybe take that long leggy SWxDG and mix it with the super squatty Grizzly Crinkle...dunno yet. Regardless; seeds are in the works. The banana tea really helped clear up some spotting, and added nice dense growth. I think the tea and c02 really helped this week. Auto's are a ton of fun, and I'm glad I ran a few of these together. Next run will be refined. hope everyone had a great growing week! Until the next update: be well! 🙏🌱
Edit:
10/6/22 - I'll start a separate journal; but the SWxDG pollen project is off and running, so you won't see much of her after this. Doing some research on what I'd like to cross her with.
So far this has been quite the learning journey. Auto's are a helluva lot of fun tho. Definitely running in 5 gallon cloth containers from here out, with a much higher ratio of coir. Keep that medium more neutral. These ladies really like a safe, pH'd, low nutrient enviro for the first couple weeks. Very sensitive to light burn, and long term issues with nitrogen and nutrient lock. It's also fun to note how well they responded to some home made organic nutrients. I'll have to see how my other journal turns out just running organics. This will be the final update in this diary for the SWxDG donor, she is performing perfectly and will get her own diary in the coming weeks. Still choosing the strain to cross her with. I'm thinking something skunky. We shall see. Hope everyone had a wonderful week of growing! ✌️🌱
Turns out pH is kind of important...who knew. Now that I've fixed my broken pH meter issue, things have REALLY started to clear up. Found out last week that my old pH meter was off by a factor of .3/1. So, at BEST it was 1 third off. I'm actually surprised I didn't just melt these ladies. They're a lot more resilient than I thought...thank God. Haha. Anywho; the ladies are recovering nicely and starting to get thick and frosty. Excited to see how they finish out. I'm very thankful we were able to find that pH issue, or this grow may not have finished. The only casualty was the larger Double Grape. Had to flush and bring her down early before bud rot took over. (again, 100% my bad)
Started ramping up nutes again in the right pH range. So far so good.
Hope everyone had a great week of growing, and remember: never give up on your ladies. 9 times out of 10 it's an operator error...in this case I was the bonehead. Learn from my stupid: double check your pH, and watch that light height.
Until next week. ✌️🌱
Day: Schfifty Five
Fun week. Plants are recovered as much as they're going to before they give up those flowers...so I'm just guiding them in for a safe landing. I'm going to start flushing the SWxDG / Double Grape / Illuminauto 42 today. Holding off with the Super Orange Haze until the weekend. Then it's flush city. RO at the ready. 😋
Built a fun little veg/dry cabinet from scrap/parts here, pretty awesome. It will make it's appearance here when the drying/curing starts.
Also found: an old broken tripod / usb strip lights / old black sheet ... AKA the new "photography studio" 😂 "CannaBudget Studios" #free
Hope everyone had an awesome week and the ladies are all healthy! Until then, back to the farm. ✌️🌱
This was an awesome week for everyone in the grow. I spaced and forgot to get some pictures of the SWxDG before I put her in the dark. I'll grab some harvest shots. My bad. However I started harvesting tops that showed amber trichs. I prefer the couch lock / skeletal tissue responses from cannabis as far as medicine goes.
The ladies are all doing well, letting everyone just chong out and get nice and thick. #waiting4amber
Super Orange Haze: the smell is incredibly citrus-y. Strong/Sweet gas smell backing it up.
Double Grape: smells like grapes, that a skunk broke into. Amazing.
Illuminatuo 42: quite honestly the best smelling musk I've ever come across. STRONG berries, STRONG gas. Cannot wait to test her.
SWxDG: wild hybrid between some Skywalker earthiness, and Double grapes grapiness...love it.
The hygrometer / 3D printed lid is FDA approved food safe, and repels resins. I tested the water/air tight tests on a unit that had an eff'd up screen. No water leaked upside down overnight, air tight test held to 5 psi without a silicone seal. I'm testing one that works now with that side by side shot. Hopefully makes monitoring RH / temp during cure & store quicker and easier.
Hope everyone had a great week. Back to dealing with angry cows. 😅 ✌️🌱
Even though she started off rough, light burned, and WAY outside of pH range...all my fault...she still produced some insanely tight and frosty buds. I'll definitely be running her again with the proper settings. Overall, I'm just impressed with how resilient to my stupidity she was. Give her a try if you get the chance, you will not regret it. ✌️🌱
This was a very fun strain to grow. She's slow to show frost, but finishes incredibly strong. I'll be running the last 2 of these seeds this winter, and treat them the way they should've been treated to begin with. Haha. I'm dumb. Anyway, she produced well, the smell is intoxicating. Fruity / Gassy / Skunky. Cannot wait till she's fully cured. ✌️🌱
Fun plant. If I didn't screw up the big pot so bad this would've been quite the epic harvest. Live and learn. I'll be running her again very soon. Redemption run. There is so much more in her than I got. Looking forward to a proper run. Regardless she yielded what smell / look like little knockout popcorn buds. Can't wait to press one. ✌️🌱
She'll be coming down within 48 hours. Harvested her little sister with some impressive results. Looking forward to seeing what I was able to save in this run. Loving the drying chamber I built. Fanned and Filtered. Stays about 35% RH / 80f ...takes 5 ish days to get a snap. Everyones curing now.
Overall it was a great week, harvested some, starting some new...dunno what yet. Might try my seedsman. We'll see.
Hope everyone had a great week! Can't wait to smoke some of this hard work. ✌️🌱
Taken down on day 74 from sprout. She started showing amber around day 72, put her in complete dark @ 65 degrees for 48 hours. She was flush for about 12 days with RO & Banana tea. Wild and powerful aromas show up around week 8, so be prepared to manage that smell if you're in tight living spaces. It's a wonderful citrus gasoline smell; you've been warned. 😊 Highly recommend growing this strain. ✌️🌱
