Introduction - Week 12 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 100542.91, An interesting week of growing. Early in the week, the vegging twin started to pre-bloom. By the end of the week she has clearly begun crowning. Would have liked at least another week or two more of veg growth, but it is what it is, gonna go with it. The next grow cycle will definitely be all photo-periods. Adjusted the DLI and increased the PPFD to closer match pre-bloom lighting levels. Adjusted VPD levels a bit too. Also did a bit of low-stress training on the younger plant in the original EarthBox by bending over the main stalk with a garden yo-yo. Time to defoliate! --- To help with defoliation, I rotated the EarthBoxes. --- Great! - [17:48]: Using a pair of trimmers, I gently clipped off the damaged leaves. --- Also trimmed leaves that were covering bud sites. --- Wow! Both plants are looking great! --- Bud pistil hairs are just clustering everywhere! - [18:14]: Rotated the EarthBoxes back to the default configuration. --- Everyone looks nice and happy! --- Oh! Tucked the trimmings under the mulch cover. --- Checked both twins and growth is looking nice and healthy! --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Okay! - [19:59]: Adjusted the tents environmental parameters. --- Need to adjust the VPD levels a bit. --- The heater and humidifier's controller target TEMP/RH values were decreased from 77°F/78% to 72.0°F/71% --- Lowered the exhaust fan's controller humidity HIGH/LOW values from 85%/52% to 75%/47% --- Lowered the exhaust fan's controller temperature HIGH/LOW values from 85°F/58°F to 75°F/55°F --- This should give a better local VPD levels but will adjust as needed. Her nodal spacing is getting a bit larger than I'd like, but wow she looks healthy! The younger plant in the original EarthBox is just stretching with growth! --- Wow the terpenes are getting stronger! --- Fuel and gas profiles are getting me hyped! --- Despite the setbacks, still very stoked for this runs harvest! --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Plan to take readings along with a bloom feeding tonight. - [16:14]: Evening gals! --- Wow looking good! --- Bud sites are really starting to get more developed! --- Pistil hairs are starting to bunch up nicely! --- Terpene profile is also very nice and gassy! - [16:22]: Checked the soil moisture for both EarthBoxes. --- The soil for the new EarthBox was pretty moist (with a reading of 8.5 out of 10). --- The top soil was still hydrated, but getting dry. --- The soil for the original EarthBox was surprisingly getting drier (with a reading of a 7 out of 10). --- The top soil was still looking pretty dry in the front. --- Going to both foliar feed and top water. --- Not going to add any water to the reservoir. - [16:50]: Took PPFD readings. --- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 506 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 32.79 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 562 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 36.42 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the twin early bloomer was at 331 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 21.45 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the twin late bloomer was at 321 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 20.80 mol/m2/d --- Wow. --- The younger plant in the original EarthBox has grown taller than the first. - [17:08]: Decided to add a garden yo-yo to the younger plant. --- I gently attached both ends of the yo-yo and gently bend the main stalk back to the side towards the fill tube. --- Then misted the top growth with a bit of distilled water. --- This low-stress training should help to bush out the growth. --- Going to wait a bit before adjusting the light. --- Decided to increase the twin's DLI closer to 30 mol/m2/d which is a PPFD goal of 463 μmol/m2/s - [18:19]: Increased the wattage of the grow light (Mars Hydro TSW-2000). --- Using a screw driver, I adjusted both ballasts (one at a time). --- In total, the grow light was increased from 258.8W to 360.4W - [18:45]: Did not adjust the height of the light. --- New readings were taken. --- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 661 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 42.83 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 609 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 39.46 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the twin early bloomer was at 420 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 27.22 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the twin late bloomer was at 402 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 26.05 mol/m2/d --- With a DLI goal of 30 mol/m2/d for the twins, going to keep the current settings and height. - [19:19]: Took height readings. --- The original grow was around 17" tall. --- The young plant in the original EarthBox was about 14" tall. --- The twin early bloomer was 7.5" tall. --- The twin late bloomer was 8.75" tall. --- The distance between the canopy of the original grow and light was around 18" --- The distance between the young plant and the light was around 20" --- The distance between the twin early bloomer and the light was around 27.5" --- The distance between the twin late bloomer and the light was around 26.5" --- Rotated the EarthBox configuration 90 degrees counter clockwise. --- Time to foliar spray! - [20:09]: Filled a pitcher with 4 cups of distilled water. --- Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract --- Added 1/16tsp of: ----- BuildABloom ----- Bio-Phos ----- Big 6 Micronutrients [+ Humic Acid] --- Added 1/4tsp of: ----- Pure Protein Dry [Organic Fish Aminos] --- Added 1/2tsp of: ----- Horticultural Coconut --- Added 3mL of Yah-Whey --- Mixed the solution and poured it straight into a spray bottle. - [20:42]: Defoliated the yellowing and necrotic leaves. --- Tucked the trimmings under the mulch cover. --- I have given little to no nutrients so going feed all the girls a dose of bloom nutrients. --- I know they say not to foliar feed in bloom, but going to do it anyways. - [21:09]: Misted the top growth of all plants. --- Sprayed pretty heavily making sure to spray under the leaves. --- [30 minutes later] --- Misted the top growth again. --- Okay time to top feed! --- Please don't frack this up Ensign.. - [21:58]: Added 4 drops of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer --- Mixed the remaining solution and poured half [~400mL - 1.75cups] into a measuring cup for later. --- Misted the other half of the solution onto the top soil of the original EarthBox. - [22:19]: Rotated the EarthBox configuration 180 degrees. --- Then poured the solution saved from earlier into the spray bottle and misted the top soil of the new EarthBox. - [22:39]: Rotated the EarthBoxes back to the default configuration. --- Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). Also trimmed off the damaged leaves. --- Tucked the trimmings under the mulch cover. - [20:04]: Checked the soil moisture for both EarthBoxes. --- The soil for the new EarthBox was very moist (with a reading of over 10 out of 10). --- The top soil looked quite hydrated. --- The soil for the original EarthBox was getting drier (with a reading of a 7 out of 10). --- The top soil was also looking drier. - [20:10]: Checked the soil for the new EarthBox again. --- This time I tried checking the soil on the other side. --- The soil was very dry (with a reading of 1 out of 10). --- Time to bottom water! - [20:20]: Filled a pitcher with 4 cups of distilled water. --- Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract --- Added 1/16tsp of Bio-Phos --- Added 5mL of Yah-Whey --- Mixed the solution and poured 2 cups into each EarthBox's fill tube. --- Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Getting hyped on the growth of the young plant in the original EarthBox [END OF WEEK 12]
