Introduction - Week 18 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 100658.05, Been a simple week of growing! Although I'm pretty sure I over-watered last week. Soil moisture levels have stayed the same all week so have not watered anything. Throughout the week did basic defoliation along with general maintenance (mainly refilling the humidifier). Also checked the trichomes and wow! Mostly cloudy with a bit of ambering starting to develop! Nice! However, since I'm going to be harvesting a plant early (the tall twin), wanted to give the whole grow another week. Regardless of the issues throughout this grow, overly hyped for this harvest! Wow! Just frosted white with inner sugar leaves turning purple. --- Hyped to check the trichomes. Harvest time may be sooner than anticipated! - [17:09]: Evening my girls! --- Wow! Slapped with gassy funk! --- Also growth is still looking great! --- Soil moisture seems about the same as yesterday so not going to water tonight. --- Shaka, may have over-watered last week (Damnit Ensign). --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Regardless, wow buds look frosty! --- Close up shots of the buds also seem to show a bit ambering in the trichomes! --- Gonna wait a couple days longer before checking the trichomes but hyped! --- The only drawback is since I have to harvest all the plants at once, one plant will be harvested way too early (the tall twin). --- I may wait an extra week or so longer, but still deciding. I'm always impressed with how well the carbon filter scrubs the smell from the air. --- Hmm. --- Haven't watered all week. --- Been checking soil moisture levels all week (also went over last week's logs). --- I think I may have over watered last week (damnit Ensign), but growth is still looking great so not too worried. --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). - [09:26]: Checked the current Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 29% - [CH01 EB1 Original Grow] --- 25% - [CH02 EB1 Second Plant] --- 36% - [CH03 EB2 Short Twin] --- 40% - [CH04 EB2 Tall Twin] --- Moisture levels still seem okay. Levels in the second EarthBox seem a bit high so going to let the soil dry out. - [09:27]: Checked the soil moisture for both EarthBoxes with a basic meter (one reading each). --- The soil for the new EarthBox was pretty good (with a reading of 5 out of 10). --- The top soil still looked nice and hydrated. --- The soil for the original EarthBox was also pretty good (with a reading of a 5.5 out of 10). --- The top soil was looking dry. --- Yep not going to water tonight. Going to let the soil dry out. --- Will be harvesting soon anyways, so not too concerned. - [13:58]: Plan to check trichomes tonight! --- Last time (two weeks ago), trichomes were pretty cloudy but still had a good amount of clear. --- Tonight, hoping for a bit of amber! --- For this harvest going for a 10-25% amber-to-cloudy ratio. --- Of course, since the tall twin is still in early bloom, going to give this whole grow an extra week longer before harvesting. - [16:10]: Evening my ladies! --- Wow looking good! --- Smelling even better! Wow! Slapping loud with terpenes! --- Soil moisture levels seem pretty much unchanged. --- Not going to water anything tonight. - [16:13]: Defoliated the tall twin. --- Using a pair of trimmers, I gently snipped off the damaged leaves. --- Wow she's sticky! --- A good amount of her fan leaves were just covered in trichomes! Almost want to try and smoke it (almost). --- Also I noticed that she has an unusually high amount of 3-fingered leaves. Not sure if this is a genetic trait or possibly a sign of re-vegging? Regardless, not too worried about it. --- Tucked the trimmings under the mulch cover. - [16:43]: Took PPFD readings. --- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 732 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 47.43 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 726 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 47.04 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the short twin was at 612 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 39.66 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the tall twin was at 632 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 40.95 mol/m2/d --- With a continued DLI goal of 45 mol/m2/d (which is a PPFD goal of 694 μmol/m2/s) for the taller plants, going to continue to leave the light levels where they are at. - [16:52]: Took height readings. --- The original grow was around 17.5" tall. --- The second plant in the original EarthBox was about 16.5" tall. --- The short twin was 8.75" tall. --- The tall twin was 12" tall. --- The distance between the original grow and light was around 17" --- The distance between the second plant and the light was around 18" --- The distance between the short twin and the light was around 25.5" --- The distance between the tall twin and the light was around 22" - [17:07]: Rotated the EarthBoxes 90 degrees counter-clockwise. --- Okay time to check the trichomes! --- Using a pair of trimmers, I clipped off some samples. --- Again, only focusing on the plants in the original EarthBox. --- Cut two bud samples from each plant. One towards the bottom, one towards the top. - [17:53]: Checked each sample under the microscope. --- First checked the bottom sample of the original grow! --- Wow! Amber trichomes! Well at least on the leaves. --- Inner buds are mostly cloudy with a bit of clear. - [17:39]: Next checked the top sample of the original grow! --- Woah! First time checking purple buds under the microscope and trichomes looks incredible! --- Ambering is developing very nicely! Sugar leaves clearly have more ambering, but buds are also showing signs as well! --- Looking great so far! - [17:47]: Then checked the bottom sample of the second plant! --- Wow! Lots of cloudy trichomes with a bit of ambering starting to develop on the buds! --- Similar to the last sample, ambering trichomes were mainly found on sugar leaves, but were also just staring to develop on the buds. - [17:59]: Lastly was the top sample of the second plant! --- This sample has purpling in the buds! Beautiful! --- Nice! Cloudy and ambering trichomes can clearly be seen throughout both the buds and sugar leaves! --- Just incredible! --- Best of all, --- Harvest day is officially in one week!! --- Overly hyped! --- [*smokes a bowl] --- Oops, - [21:15]: Rotated the EarthBoxes back to the default configuration. --- Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Wow bud growth on both plants looks amazing! --- Can see the ambering of the trichomes! --- Buds are looking both purple and frosty! --- The aroma is also just incredible! Wow! Loud gas with a bit of an earthy sweetness! --- Ahhh yea! Harvest time is getting me stoked! Nice! --- The aroma is of course slapping loud with strong terps! Wow! --- With harvest day in less than a week, getting hyped! - [22:22]: Evening my ladies! --- Even though I overwatered, the bud growth is still looking good! --- Buds look frosty white with trichomes! --- Not much to do tonight. --- Simply refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Since soil moisture levels have pretty much stayed the same over the last few days, I can easy confirm that I over-watered the girls (Damnit Ensign). --- Well at least the soil moisture data will help with my next grow. Will try not water as much (and as often). Still learning, still growing. --- Regardless, still overly hyped for harvest! But too hyped for harvest! --- Purple buds are just frosted with trichomes!
