Hey y'all, I've been away from updating my diary this week because I stumbled upon some work days away from home, and I've had less time to tend to some details. The news for this week is that my AK-420 has sprouted and has started to grow, although I feel like it has been getting a bit sad. The light is beaming at ~60% at around 50-60cm from the canopy. I introduced some Zamnezia x Bionova Nutrients, the PK13-14 (0.1ml per liter of water, which took about a week to distribute to all 3 flowers), and some Zamnezia x Bionova Stimulator X-cel (0.5ml per liter of water). I have noticed some discoloration on my Amnezia Auto, and some shriveling of the leaves upwards. I am really worried for my girls. I suspect that while I was away for 2 days they were a bit underfed (I thought the soil was damp enough before I left), but I hope to hear some of your input on what it looks like we are experiencing. The tent temperature seems to be spiking sometimes, upwards of 25 degrees celcius, with humidity being around 40-55%. Is it too late to save my babies?

I am still trying to learn and understand how watering is done optimally. I weighed my pots before watering. Is there a way to determine how much water is too much? I used 1.5lt per pot for the first watering, and I am monitoring to see if it is too little (based on drying).

Hi there With seedlings you want to keep the soil damp/moist and lightly spray to water you dont want to soak the soil or seeds/early roots will rot, They dont need alot of water to start with.. as they get bigger and roots get more established they will dry out quicker and you’ll need to water a bit more off, Best of luck 🌱

Any advice for the distance from plants at each stage for my Mars Hydro 1000 150W equivalent? Are there any signs to look for if they are getting too much or too little light? Should I fix that by bringing the light closer or cranking up the light higher? Week 1 at 100% - 60cm

I'd say keep the light about 38 centimeters from the canopy, no matter what stage the plants are at. Just adjust the dimmer to make sure you don't put your plants into any sort of light or heat stress. As far as how intense you should have the light for each stage, that's something you'll have to dial in. Do some research in light stress signs so you know as soon as they may start popping up, then nip it right up. I hope this helps.

Hi, I’ve had the same question about TS1000. Luckily I was advised to install Photone app on my phone. Had to spent 6 dollars to unlock full spectrum led. But that benefited so much. They have light calculator for cannabis. Awesome tool! So for 1st week seedlings you may set it to 25% at 30 cm height. Then gradually increase light to 50% till week 4. I was in full flower at 75-80% and 30 cm height. Didn’t have to go 100% at all with my previous grow box 70*45 cm

Hi there For a 150 watt from seedlings i would be dimmed at 50% and around 50cm above for the first week or two you dont want to be too intense/hot and damage the first two leaves, I would put it up to 60% week after and 80% week after that.. Keep an eye on them.. if the leafs look like they’re drying up they probably getting too hot, if they start stretching like crazy and there getting a really long stem then lower thr light abit, Its all about trying it and monitoring it and your start seeing what they want, Best of luck 🌱

Hey guys! Emergency post and request to review the pictures from this week, as my girls seem to not be doing so well. Can I ask for a remote diagnosis? I can provide whatever info/more pictures you ask of me. Thank you <3

Happened to me first time round mate, potted them up to early. They’re overwatered and over potted, a sufficient enough root system wasn’t established before potting up. I know people who can do it this way but personally, I would either put it to the side start some new ones. Best advice don’t give them too much love they don’t like company.

Hello! Then basically they all have NPK deficiency, nitrogen deficiency can be recognized by the color tending to yellow, P deficiency can be recognized by the red stems, which together with K deficiency cause burning on the leaves :) you can still fix it, but they will actually go to produce much less than healthy seedlings. Since you are growing in coco, keep in mind that it is a substrate with virtually no fertilizer, so you have to fertigate every time! Check the pH, it absolutely must be below 7 and above 5.5, 6.3 is fine. Be careful then that the smallest one is suffocating on the roots (the leaves are bent down), so I suggest you spray the leaves with fertilizer and when the soil is to be watered, be generous with npk!, If within 10 days they haven't recovered, re-seed, and try to have 300ppm for the first week, 500-700 for the second, so you can avoid the same problem :)

Nice setup! You definitely need to dim the light to 25% at 30 cm height or 50% at 50 cm. 100% at 60 cm is way too much for the babies. Good luck!

@@Mr_Incognito, took your advice and already using 50% @ 50 cm from canopy. I've also started using the hand-cupping method I read about to test if it's too hot for the plants, and it seems pretty nice in there.

I see you on overwatering mind.... Fact for You : 99% of my girls needed max 2 liters of water for first 14 days, spraying daily amount calculated in too. You put already 1.5 .... All the Best !

dkodedcommented2 years ago
@AsNoriu, I had to germinate another seed of AK-420 since the first one didn't work, so when it germinated I made a new pot of soil and perlite, and this time I did not put a lot of water like before. I simply sprayed the soil lightly and made sure it's damp enough. :) Thanks for your tip, and I will keep trying to improve!

@Rangaku, I had some bad luck with my first seedling that didn't seem to go past popping a little bit in the damp towel. I'm now in the process of germinating my last ak420 seed and hopefully that does it! I'm being extra careful this time :)

This discolouration is probably caused by wrong feeding. I see you’re in coco, so proper NPK should be provided. Bionova PK 13-14 has NPK 0-13-14, X-Cell is 1-0-0. You’re not providing Nitrogen at all. That’s the cause of discolouration. Just don’t use bloom fertiliser at this stage. Put something for veg with NPK 2-1-4 or so, and keep ppm about 300 for a while. Cheers!
