👉The seeds were gifted to me by FB rep. I didnt ask for the seeds, they asked me to grow them. Very grateful for the opportunity to grow some of the most popular seeds out there. To start the germination process I placed the seed in a small glass with a solution of pure water (98% pure 6micro-siemens) with H2O2. After 24 hours the tap root had emerged from the shell. I then placed it into a black plastic container with a cellulose towel soaked in the H2O2 solution. After 24hrs the tap root was 1/4" and was then placed into the media. It emerged on day 6. On day 7 it is still emerging and about to open its cotyledons.
👉I have a 4x4 tent. I will be using a dim-able led light set at 150w. The plant will be in a 1 gallon cloth pot. 80% coco coir with 20% clay pebbles. I have a layer of clay pebbles on the surface to prevent erosion from watering. I prepped the media by rinsing the coco with de-chlorinated water. I use a carbon tank to de-chlorinate the water. Once in the pots I use RO water fortified with Ca/mag. I measure the run-off to make sure the media is buffered and most of the salt has been rinsed out. After placing the germinating seed into the media I dampen the area around the seed with the seedling mix solution of General Hydroponics drain to waste mix chart (no longer published).
👉The plant started the week with the membrane that is inside the shell still attached to the cotyledons. I wet the membrane and after about 30 mins I used a pin to slide the membrane off. I gave the media 1.25l/day of CalMag only solution. I used a small laboratory rinse bottle to dampen the area around the seedling with the seedling mix.
👉The plant has really started to take off. Especially the last two days. The run-off has climbed enough for a low EC event. The pH and the EC of the run-off have gone out of the desired range. This is normal as the media starts to develop its micro environment. When doing a low EC fertigation it always has some nutrients in it, and its always followed by a full strength event.
👉The plant has exploded. Gained some height. THe side view pic looks a little ruffled because of tucking. But the above veiw sows a nice dome formed by the food factories. Did a loe EC fertigation, followed by a normal strength to keep the pH and EC of the media in range. The algae has taken hold on the exterior. I apply a solution of H2O2 solution to the side and bottom and occasionally wipes the exterior. The only possible nutrient issue I ve seen is some light yellow in the leaves. Very faint. I increased the amount of CalMg in each batch to 2.2x the recipe. 10mil per 2.5gtallons. The calmg deficiency can not only manifest due to a true deficiency but the imbalance of the media can make it difficult for the plant to utilize it.
👉The coming week I will go to the late growth nutrient recipe and may increase the fertigation event to 2x's a day. I also expect the plant to declare in the next 7-10 days.
👉Pistols have emerged! The plant is really full of vigor. A nice sativa bush has developed. Ive started trimming some shaded leaves at the bottom and some larf sights, including the lowest two branches. The plant is also consuming the nutrients and liquid. The runoff is less and less and the run-off is balanced at 5.8ph and the EC isnt going up.
👉The flower stretch is in high gear as the plant reaches up to the light. Surprisingly its getting so big because its in a one gallon pot. The plant is drinking up the solution and nutrients but has required a couple of low EC ferticgations. I have also been giving it two fertigations on 3 of the days. The plant show no nutrient issues and the new leaves grow so fast they have yellow tils but those tips turn green as the leaves get bigger. I have removes some of the lower secondary branches and some of the future larf sites.
👉THe next week I will start with the early bloom nutrient mix. Hopefully it will stop stretching soon but there is still some room to grow.
👉A week of stretching! Fun to watch as it reaches upwards. It has stretched almost a foot since last week. Long sturdy branches abound. Right now there is popcorn galore! I have trimmed some larf spots, but a lot of light is penetrating the interior of the plant so I wont go crazy trimming every small branch. Plant look healthy and issue free, slight yellow tips up top. I have given a couple low EC fertigations this week. The plant has been consuming lots of solution.
👉Two to three more days and I will switch to the mid-bloom recipe. I will be needing to ad support to the plant to keep it from falling over when the buds start bulking up. Im going to have to max out my light height before its finished and may have to get creative to keep it from pushing against the light. Tallest plant Ive had in a 1 gallon pot.
👉 The stretch is over, and just in time, the light only had another inch of of height available. If the plant had kept going beyond the lights maximum height I have a contingency of steps to take such as change the stand that the plant sits on to one with shorter legs and a shallow catch tray. The plant is just covered in young, plump, popcorn flowers and the aroma is the wonderful stank of flowering cannabis. Outdoor temps have been low so my day time tent temps are mild in the mid 70s with only one day that was 79f. overnight I was slow in changing the house hvac to above 65f so with outside overnight temps below freezing the tent got down to 62 a couple of nights. I have pruned a couple of leaves and a few small secondary branches that would be larf, ad one larger secondary branch that was near the bottom and began sicking out from the side. The plant looks as if Ive defoliated it, but I have only removes a few leaves around the base.
👉The plant was thirsty and the run-off mostly steady. Until the end of the week the run-off EC would peak faster. I did two low EC events during the week. Normally I add Calmag to the solution, this week I did not on the first event but did on the second on. I now see slight deficiency in some of the lowest old leaves near the base. The pH has remained stable in the run-off. For fertigation details see the log in the picture. Im using the General Hydroponics drain to waste mix chart for the Flora series.
👉For the coming week the feed solution will remain the mid bloom mix. I may do a high volume/low EC irrigation to keep the media balanced. With the one gallon plant supporting such a tall bush I will need to ad vertical supports to keep the plant from getting top heavy as the buds bulk up.
👉The flowers are starting to gain traction in the quest to be plump. The lowest leaves have had some yellowing in the space between veins. Ive made some adjust to address any possible manganese, magnesium, or lockout issue. The plant has a wonderful aroma. The EC of the run-off spikes quickly but the pH remains steady. I have done a couple of high volume/low EC fertigtion events. I will continue these low EC events as needed.
👉Fading has taken hold and the leaves aslo show signs that I didnt do enough low EC irrigations (burnt tips). In the run-off EC spikes quickly but the pH remains stable. The plant has been a lime yellow shade of green most of the grow, and now the tint is turning more yellow. The plant looks like I have defoliated it, but I haven't. I have only taken lower leaves as they faded. The cooler outdoors temps have meant lower tent temperatures both lights on and off. I added supports to the legs of the stand and ran a string around to connect them all. This is to help keep the plant from tilling over if I get clumsy, and also draw in some of the lower branches to keep them from rubbing the wall of the tent as I rotate the plant daily.
👉The coming week I will switch to the week 9 mid bloom mix recipe from the GH drain to waist schedule for the Flora series nutrients. The plants pistols have started turning red and its is probably about 5 days ahead in flowering than Ive been documenting. Not big deal. But the plant is obviously a little more mature than its tent mate (Strawberry Banana). If time permits I will begin using my usb microscope to do trichome hunting to inspect the trichome maturity
👉Its progressed slightly faster than I anticipated. I switched to late bloom at the end of the week, but I probably should be on ripen. I will switch to the ripen mix in next day or two. The lowest leaves continue to fade and are removed. Has a sweet funky stank that makes me smile. Most of the pistols are red. When looking at the trichomes they appear to look mostly cloudy, maybe one or two amber here and there.
Grew fast with no real issues. Nice dense buds, not many sugar leaves and was super easy to trim. Wonderful smell when growing. Fantastic light cheesy stank in the jar. The final cure buds are gorgeous, lots of red pistols. Very frosty. Nice sweet stanky nose hit when pinching the bud for a hit. The flavor improved dramatically at 6 week. I delayed writing this review for 3 months. The cure continues at 3 months and tastes better every day.
👉Easy to trim. nice tight sativa-esc buds. Beautiful red pistols and bright green calyx. Very few sugar leaves which is why the trim was a breeze. Very frosty. I trimed over two days. I snip the branch and hang the main cola of each branch on a rack by using a clothes pin with a letter on it. Each cola was weighed and the letter of the clothes pin used to hang it was recorded. I weight the buds occasionally to determin the % of moisture left. Two days on the rack is followed by three in a paper sack. when approx 25% of its harvest day weight it goes into a jar with a hygrometer. I monitor the hygrometer over a couple days or until the stable humidity is less that 62% (sometimes its as low as 50%) If the humidity is higher than 62% i open the jar for a while and repeat until the humidity is in range.
Really nice photos!
Thanks a bunch for growing our genetics, and sharing this diary with us :)
We hope that it was a nice experience, and that you enjoy the harvest!
Have a good one
