T_Dub Soaking in seaweed extract, RO water and ph’d to 6.5. I will soak for 15-20 hours and then sow into Happy Frog soil.
Day 2. Sowed into Happy Frog soil in a solo cup. Holes in the bottom of the cup for drainage. I am keeping them in a propagation tray with a heat mat underneath.
Day 4. Moved propagation tray to new veg tent. Maintaining tent at 77 degrees. New humidifier set up at 55% humidity in tent.
Strain description from the Seedsman website
“Description
L.A. Peyote Kush is an indica-dominant strain bred by crossing the clone-only L.A. Kush with Peyote Purple. LA Kush's origins are shrouded in mystery, with some claims that it's from an OG Kush phenotype, possibly crossed with Diesel. At the same time, another story has it that it hailed from Orange County in California and was grown from a single bag seed. Peyote Purple, meanwhile, is an S1 back-cross of Bubba Kush and is known for its high THC content and its deep purple, almost black, appearance towards the end of flowering.
L.A. Kush is 90% indica and takes 8 - 9 weeks to complete the flowering phase.
Peyote Purple is another indica-dominant strain with 90% indica genetics and was back-crossed for several generations to cement its qualities. This plant also takes 8 - 9 weeks of flowering before it is ready to harvest, producing average yields of anything but average weed. The name is attributed to its headiness.
L.A. Peyote Kush Taste, Smell, and Effect
This indica offers some pronounced cerebral effects with a relaxing yet uplifting effect, leaving users sleepy and somewhat unfocused with heavier use.
The scent of mint pervades the grow room, while earthy tastes of menthol and pine have some diesel/chem notes. The effect is potent yet quite upbeat, and it is certainly no couch-lock strain. Uplifting, happy, physically relaxing, and mentally creative.
L.A. Peyote Kush combines the very best attributes of both parent strains in a pleasurably full package. Get yours from Seedsman today. “
T_Dub Seeds popped the soil after four days. Now entering the seedling stage for 2-3 weeks (still tracked as veg here). Predicting a harvest date of 3/9/2023. Wow….that seems so far away.
I’ve done research and I’m no longer planning to do a SCROG. I will be using plant training called Quadlining to train these plants. It involves topping above the 4th node and removing the bottom two nodes. That leaves four branches to use Low Stress Training to spread them out for an even canopy. More info at 420 Magazine online. It’s new to me.
This seed emerged with the seed casing on her leaves. I sprayed with a mister multiple times today and was unable to remove the seed casing on Sunday. By Monday morning, I was successful in spraying off the seed husk.
I’m misting them with Reverse Osmosis water plus CalMag (4 ml/gallon) plus seaweed extract (28ml/gallon). Water is ph’d to 6.5. (My tap water is over 9 ph and requires ph down)
Daily Activities Tracked Below (the boring stuff)
-Misting top layer of soil 3x per day with seaweed water (Ro water, seaweed extract and CalMag)
-When cups are light, I add 3-5 ml of seaweed water around the sides of the cup.
On Wednesday, I used the Photone iPhone app to dial in the light better. I increased the light (20” high) from a 10% setting to a 20% setting. Lamp recommendation for seedlings at 18 inches and 30% intensity, so I’m still below recommended. I started out at 10% intensity the last few days.
Some stretching in LA Peyote sprout, so more light is needed. I also reduced light timing from 24 hours to 20 hours of light to give them some darkness.
Friday….increased light to 40% at 20”. Added soil to cups to support long stems.
Monday: only misted one time to allow the cups to dry out a little
Tuesday: cups too light….I didn’t water enough. Misted with seaweed extract water and added 8ml of seaweed water to solo cups
Wednesday-Saturday : misted and watered lightly. They Dry out quickly even with 65% humidity in the veg tent,
T_Dub Misting with RO water with CalMag and Seaweed extract. Ph’d to 6.5. Using a syringe to feed occasionally, but not a lot of water.
Friday transplant into one gallon containers.
T_Dub It’s been a rough start for this girl. She grew taller than she could handle and I discovered her laying down yesterday. I was going to put her down, but I decided to do a little treatment today with a makeshift splint.
This was my planned “spare” seed in case germination wasn’t 100%. Since all three germinated, I’ve decided to keep her around as a mother plant for my next grow. I haven’t cloned or kept a mother before. I have a small veg tent I could use for one mother plant. Excited to see her live another day.
ACI T22 Light was at 18 inches and 40% intensity until Tuesday. Increased to 50% intensity. Recommended intensity by manufacturer is 30% for seedlings and 70% for veg…..I’m working my way up to 70%.
On Thursday, I removed the bottom 2 branches as the start of plant training. (Quadlining)
I transplanted the last day of last week from solo cups to one gallon containers. I’m not sure what soil I’m using as it was left over mix. It’s a mix of Ocean Forest and Happy Frog and perlite….not enough perlite either.
Misting with a combination of RO Water, CalMag and Maxicrop Seaweed Extract. I plan to introduce a microbial element with EM-1 being used after tomorrow. That will be a new product for me, but I’ve read great reviews.
As of Wednesday, I’m planning to top this plant after she grows two more nodes. I will top above the 4th node, and remove the bottom two nodes.

On Saturday, I added EM-1 soil conditioner to the foliar feed and drench. It’s beneficial bacteria for the soil. Also applied one gallon of nutrient water to 5 gallon containers of soil in preparation for transplant. Their new soil is relatively dry, so I like to pre-moisten it before transplanting.
T_Dub Foliar feeding daily with RO water, CalMag, seaweed extract and EM-1 soil conditioner. When the pots are light, I drench with the same liquid. I spray outside of the tent so as to not mess up my LEDs.
Following the Quadlining approach. Removed bottom two nodes, and topped above the fourth node. The remaining 4 branches will be spread out using low stress training.
Lights are at 18” and 50% intensity starting on Sunday. On Tuesday, I increased to 80% using the lux meter. Recommended for veg is 70% intensity.
This plant will be culled……the other two have survived and I only have room for two plants.
T_Dub I was planning to destroy this plant, but she looked so healthy that I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’ve decided to use my veg tent to grow her out. That destroys the concept of a perpetual garden.
Still doing Quadline training….training the four branches into a perfect X shape and encouraging nodes on each branch to grow vertically.
Still using a combination of Seaweed Extrract, EM-1 and CalMag with RO water for foliar feeding and drench. Started adding small quantity of Flora Micro and Bloom following the Lucas Formula.
On Monday, I removed 5 fan leaves that were covering nodes/bud sites. Full steam ahead with Quadline training. No water needed yet.
T_Dub Sunday, The quad line training continues. Today I will defoliate to insure that light is reaching all nodes. Also will evaluate if it’s time to top the plant.
Increased Flora series Micro to 3ml and Bloom to 6ml.
Monday:
Moved to the 2x4 tent where I will continue to quadline her.
On Wednesday, I increased nutrients with Micro to 4ml/g and Bloom to 8ml/g. I’m following the Lucas Formula for GH Flora nutrients. It ignores Gro, and uses a 2:1 ratio of Bloom to Micro. Target 8ml/g of Micro and 16ml/g of Bloom as final goal.
Thursday, added about 3/4 gallon of nutrient solution. These self feeding watering bases aren’t saving me as much time as I expected now that they’re drinking a lot. The plants seem to appreciate the permanently moist soil at the bottom third of the fiber pots. Increased GH Flora series to Micro at 5ml/g and Bloom at 10ml/gallon. Always keeping Bloom at a 2:1 ratio to Micro per Lukas formula.
Friday. No nutrients needed.
Checked nutrient levels and ph at 7.0 and ppm at 850. Will leave alone for now. Removed a fair amount of leaves from this plant as i defoliated.
On Friday, I added another LED based on tent being underpowered for flower. Now dimmed….but with 640 watts of LED over 8 square feet of space.
T_Dub All weeks will now begin on Saturday and end on Friday…..works better for my weekly update schedule.
Big changes to the tent on Friday. I added another 320 watts of light for a total of 665 watts covering 8 square feet. My light was insufficient for flower last time…I won’t make that mistake again. When I used only one lamp, I noticed my buds were small and looser than I’d like. More intensity should solve this, and help to get more light into the corners too.
83 watts per square foot if I go full blast without using the dimmer. That’s going to generate some heat, so I’ll be monitoring for a while. I have them dimmed down to provide 63,000 lux worth of light. See Photon app measurements too. DLI and PPFD are both relatively high for veg. No shortage of light.
SATURDAY
Removed a few leaves, adjusted reservoir water from ph 7.1 to ph 6.5. These AC Infinity self-watering bases are working well so far. Based on how short this plant is staying, I can squeeze another week or two of veg out of her. I had removed the stakes holding the branches yesterday…..decided to add them back today to level out the branches.
SUNDAY
Replaced reservoir water with fresh nutrients. Defoliated. Topped.
MONDAY
Staked branches, defoliated lightly, LST. Fed at 5ml Micro and 6ml of Bloom. Topped off reservoir. Removed 25 watt sidelights for use elsewhere.
TUESDAY
Topped off reservoir with Micro at 6 and Bloom at 12 ml/g. Feed at 6.4 ph and 850 ppm.
T_Dub Next flower week will be 10 days from today so that I’m back on a Saturday start days for journals.
I’m concerned about space in my small 2x4 tent, so I’m switching to flower 3 days early. I do not own a par meter, but I used my lux meter to increase light from 53,000 lux to 72,000 lux.
Day shortened from 19 hours to 12 hours, so I’m trying to obtain a high DLI in flower. (Hence the second LED lamp)
Checked reservoir water and it’s full. I intend to raise the Micro to 8 ml and Bloom to 16ml per gallon over next 2 feedings. No signs of toxicity. So far this Lucas Formula has been a very simple and cost-effective strategy for GH Flora nutrients. Let’s see how it does in flower mode.
Using a few plant clips on the tallest colas. While all three plants I’m growing are looking good, this strain is the healthiest of my three plants. She’s not as hungry as my other two.
And a summary for future reference
In summary, I used Lucas recipe in FFOF soil in 5 gallon containers. Always 2:1 ratio of Bloom to Micro.
Early Veg. 2 Micro / 4 Bloom
Late Veg. 5 Micro / 10 Bloom increased to 7 Micro / 14 Bloom
Flower 8 Micro / 16 Bloom
Notes:
Included 2ml/g of CalMag, used Micro for Hard-water, humic acid, Seaweed Extract in veg, Silica in veg and stretch, homemade Terpinator in flower.
Saturday: after experimenting with the Photone app on multiple Apple devices, I discovered that the IPad mini camera seems to be the most accurate light measurement device. (Tested iPhone 6 and XR too). Using DLI (Daily Light Integral) now to dim LEDs and set targets. I was running much higher DLI before getting the app and following their advice. So far I’m impressed with the app (Pro version with Cannabis guide and white LED lighting).
Wednesday. Checked reservoir and lowered ph from 7.0 to 6.5. Added 2.5ml of Liquid Koolbloom 0-10-10 now that we’re in flower. Looking very healthy using this automated watering wick system. I still find myself refilling reservoirs daily, but the results are better looking.
T_Dub My weeks usually start on Saturday for tracking purposes.
Welcome to week 9 since sprouting and Day 10 since the flip. Plants are staying nice and short….this quadline training approach really helps with short tents. I could have achieved more volume as a SCROG, so I’m considering both options for my next grow. Buds look potentially small, but I never know what really to expect.
Saturday: minor defoliation, topped off reservoir, checked reservoir ph (6.7), checked reservoir temp (68 degrees). Looking healthy but small buds. Raised LED by three inches. Used dimmer to adjust DLI. Used Photone app (see pics) to verify lighting is not too intense or too weak.
Monday: raised LEDs by 3 inches to offset growth. Filled reservoir .3 gallons. She’s not drinking as fast as her counterpart in the same tent.
Defoliated by removing inward facing leaves and those fane leaves covering bud sites. She responded ok….no apparent stress from defoliation.
Wednesday: topped off reservoir. Moved inline filter to inside the tent.
Thursday: topped off reservoir. Adjusted lighting to 43 Daily Light Integral using Photone app to measure.
T_Dub As usual, my week starts on Saturdays. Welcome to week 3 of 12/12 lighting. I expect a little more stretch this week. They increased 5-6 inches since last week.
Saturday: Topped off reservoir with nutrients. No other action except very minor defoliation here in week 3. Will use the Photone app to insure that lighting is dialed in.
Sunday: topped off reservoir with .6 gallons. Finished defoliation for 3rd week of flower. Verified par readings under 1150 and greater than 800. Second LED providing better coverage.
Daily: top off reservoir with nutrient water. Plants are drinking .5-.75 gallons
Wednesday: checked water reservoir and ppm was 1550. Emptied reservoir and filled with 1250 ppm solution. 6.3 ph.
Thursday: I realized that the stretch wasn’t as bad as i expected. I can squeeze all three plants into one 2x4 tent. Posted above….with Purple Ghost Candy, Godfather OG and LA Peyote Kush in order from left to right.
Friday: end of week. Topped off reservoir. She’s not drinking as much as her peers, all of which have been partially flushed. I suspect salt buildup from the wick system. Ran 7 gallons of fluids through the pot using Florakleen. Runoff ppm down to 1800. Topped off reservoir with 1200 ppm solution.
T_Dub Topped off reservoir with nutrient solution at 1200ppm and 6.3ph. Removed Purple Ghost Candy from the 2x4 and put in 2x2. Remaining two plants given extra space in 2x4. Added a tower fan for better circulation. Adjusted light intensity to target ppfd no higher than 1100. That’s a high Daily Light Integral at 47.5.
Monday: I feel like I should have defoliated much more aggressively, but I still can’t bring myself to do it. She’s getting too frosty to start defoliating now. I’m letting her finish out with leaves, but I’ll keep plenty of airflow over the canopy to prevent any bud rot from forming. Topped off the reservoir….one more day done.
Daily: top off reservoir with 1300ppm nutrient solution / ~6.5 ph
Weekly: check reservoir ppm and ph
EOW: empty and rinse 1 gallon reservoirs / rinse wicks
Wednesday….swapped locations between flower tents since this plant is shorter. That will give me a more even canopy in the 2x4 tent, and better light coverage for this plant now that she gets her own 2x2.
Light at 14” above canopy at 100% as recommended by manufacturer for best flower ppfd.
T_Dub Weeks start on Saturdays, so today is the start of week 5 since 12/12. My maintenance plan is as follows…..
Daily: fill reservoirs with 1250 ppm nutrients / 6.3 ph
Weekly: check reservoir ph and ppm levels
Every other week: empty and clean reservoirs
Sunday: observing some deficiency on the lower leaves, guessing potassium deficiency based on grow weed easy resource. Adding 5ml/g of liquid koolbloom to feed.
Wednesday. Adjusted reservoir ppm. Was at 1610ppm when I checked it and 6.7 ppm.
Added lower ppm mixture and RO water to lower reservoir ppm to 1250. Topped off reservoir.
Seeing a potential potassium deficiency on this plant too, so adding back liquid Koolbloom at 4ml/ g. (0-10-10)
T_Dub This girl is a beautiful compact shrubbery….she should be in my front yard.
Saturday is the start of the week for me, so a few glamour shots to start the week. No new activity planned. I will continue to fill the reservoirs daily with nutrients. I am not top feeding these plants….all water is thru the wicking action of the bases.
Thursday: it’s almost the end of the week, so I added a few photos. Looking healthy! 4-5 weeks of flower left to go. This is the only one of three plants not showing a minor potassium deficiency.
T_Dub Im a day late posting the start of week 7 of flower…..I usually start my weeks on Saturday. As usual, I filled reservoirs with 1200 ppm nutrient solution at 6.3 ph. This plant is looking healthy with no visible deficiencies.
Filling reservoirs daily.
Thursday Trichome check. This is week 7 for an 8-10 week strain.
T_Dub Weeks start on Saturday, so today is the start of Week #9.
Filled the self watering base reservoirs with 1300ppm and 6.6 ph. Probably 2-3 weeks of flower left, so I will contemplate reducing nutrients as we get closer to harvest.
Plants are getting too large and heavy to move for photos….future photos may be under the grow lights until harvest day.
Monday: I’m reducing nutrients a little now that I’m roughly 2 weeks away from harvest. Going from 1300ppm to 1150ppm by elimination of Micro. Still feeding Bloom and Liquid Koolbloom.
Wednesday….topped off reservoirs. Examined trichomes and it looks like two more weeks until harvest,
Friday - filled reservoirs, took photos to close out the week. They’re almost ready for harvest. I’ve dialed back nutes slightly.

T_Dub New week starts on Saturday. Start of week 9 of flower, filled reservoir with milder nutrient solution. 1-2 weeks left I’m guessing before harvest.
T_Dub Saturday is the start of a new week…..week 10 of flower begins. Only one more week…..I will photograph Trichomes this week to confirm.
Daily activity continues with topping off the reservoirs with 1050ppm solution at 6.5 ph. Her leaves are slowly yellowing as she is maturing. The orange pistils are starting to curl in.
Checked trichomes on Wednesday. The harvest window is open in my opinion.
@gREEn7o0, thanks! I don’t flush…..I’m one of those people who don’t think there’s any benefit to flushing. I do give them a good long dry and cure though.
@@T_Dub, Nice.
Yeah, I got a buddy who refuses to flush, the only crops he has had fail was when he did. He ended up getting bud rot on the flushed crop. Has not flushed since, he never had another problem with bud rot, and the difference in quality was not a lot after curing.
@Cyrusdavirus, thank you.
She’s coming along beautifully.
May I pick your brain Cyrus?? What do you think of growing two autos in a 2x2x4 tent in 2 gallon pots.
Is that a reasonable expectation, or do I need larger pots and fewer plants?
I’m looking at the Gorilla Cookies auto that you recently grew. I could scrog them if that’s an acceptable training technique with autos. (I’m still researching autos, but SCROG seems OK.) Thanks in advance for your help.
@@@T_Dub, I use dry nutrients so I wouldn't go with smaller pots but with liquid nutrients you can get away with the smaller ones you just have to water more often.
As for scrog I've never done it because of my back problems it's to hard for me to get under the net. I do most of my autos the same, I top above the 5th node (set of branches) and push n pull the remaining branches to keep them from under the ones above them. If that makes sense.
I think you can do 2 or 3 in there because in my experience smaller pots make smaller plants, but they could get big without notice 😆
@Cyrusdavirus, she’s taken on the shape of an attractive shrubbery. 😝. But she is a beautiful strain….I enjoyed growing her. Looking forward to smoking her next to the Godfather OG and Purple Ghost Candy to see which ones I like best. Hope you are doing well Cyrus.
@Seedsman,
Thank you. Your LA Peyote Kush and Purple Ghost Candy are both a pleasure to grow. They really accepted the quadline training and LST quite well. 🙏
