Day 15 Starting height 2 inches now on Wednesday day 18, she has grown .5 inch. Has 1 5 fan set and starting 7 fan set. Watering every other day 250 ml water and will start fertilizer next week. Soil gnats have shown up in the tent. I put a yellow sticky paper on the pot. The fly trap caught her leaves and tore some of them off. I know she'll survive but it's a stress we could have lived without. Day 19 watered 500 ml, she grew more and now 4 inches. Day 22, I lifted the air pot to move the girls around in the tent, Purple chill has 10-12" root growing out of the bottom of the pot.

Planted sprouted autoflower bean in Fox Ocean mixed with indoor organic soil and added DR Earth herb and veg fertilizer to the mix. Is this considered living soil and enough nutrients to grow to harvest without additional fertilizing? If I need to fertilize, how much do I use?

I wouldn't say this is a living soil... but it's an amended soil at the least... and I'm hoping you'll do all right with it. The soil you've chosen has an NPK of 4-1-1 while the nutrients you've chosen have an NPK, I believe, of 3-2-2. This is going to be pretty "hot" for an autoflower at the beginning of its life ... they generally don't like nor need ANY nutes at all for the first couple of weeks which is why, when I grow in soil, I always use ProMixHP which has no nutes whatsoever in it - only wonderful mycorrhizae to provide a good boost for the roots. With this, I get to decide what nutes, when and how much to give my plants... I control their "diet." If you think, which is sounds like you do, that you can put together some soil and some nutrients and put your seed in the pot, give it a little water now and again and have a good grow all the way to harvest, you may well be disappointed. Cannabis needs specific nutes at specific times - and autoflowers are the pickiest and most demanding of cannabis to grow. I guess I'm failing to understand why it is you chose a vegetable and herb fertilizer as opposed to a cannabis fertlizer... but if the seeds are now in the soil, that's basically a fait a'compli as autoflowers do not tolerate transplanting well and it isn't adviseable to do so, especially if it's just a small seed with a tap root - the danger lies in tearing/breaking that tap root which would kill the plant. When your plant moves from the veg stage to the pre-flower and flower stage, you will have to reduce the nitrogen they are being given and add bloom nutes which are higher in potassium and phosphorus... and MAYBE, by the time they are in flower, the soil will be depleted of the nutrients and the fertlizer has been used up... if so, then you will have a shot at giving it some good bloom nutes at that point. But how you tell whether or not the nutes are used up or the soil depleted is not something I know. I wish you well... You had messaged me about soil grows - you should go read a couple of diaries to see what growers need to do, the problems they encounter and the difficulties you may face. Good luck! At least you'll learn a lot about growing cannabis!

With the soil you're growing in, you won't need to add nutes for another week or so - and then only about 1/4 strength (be careful of the Grow Big - I always had difficulty with that one when I used FoxFarm... in fact, in the soil you're growing in, I wouldn't ever give your plants more than 1/4 strength of it!). Autos don't need/don't want nutes for the first bits of their lives and since you've already got nutes in your soil, just be extra careful when you DO start to use them that they're going to be tolerated. If this was my grow, in about a week, I would do 1/4 strength of both Grow Big and Big Bloom since she could start to go into pre-flower right about then.... and even if she doesn't, adding the bloom nutes does no harm. If she DOES go into pre-flower then, keep the Grow Big at 1/4 strength, don't ever increase it.... I can't tell you how many nitrogen toxicities I had to deal with using that stuff! :-D One more bit of advice... start watering her in a wider circle... you want the roots to really reach out to find the water and they'll stop if they encounter dry soil - but the more roots, the bigger/stronger the plant so encourage them to grow! Good luck! She's looking really good so far!

Autoflower seed packs indicated 8-9 weeks but the smell from the tent is mild maybe medium and the buds are only a little bit sticky. These pictures of each plant are at day 84. Am I too late or do they need more time? Many milky trichomes and amber pistols.

Your buds look great if you are waiting to flush for a couple of days (recommended minimum of 10 days), then I would start planning it. Best get a magnifying lens and check the trichomes for at least 20% amber, then harvest. Some other tips: Leave the plants in complete dark for the last 24/36 hours to fatten the buds. (I've also read but haven't tried yet) That it's a good idea to give ice cold water for the last week to induce some healthy low stress

BUGS what are these? How did my plant get them? Where do they come from? How do I get rid of them? They have not been outside of the house: tent, garage, and tub only. The other plants do not show these, but I have separated them until I harvest just in case.

Looks like you may have two infestations. one 100% being spider mites and the other maybe white fly... hard to tell in blurry pic but they look like it could be there. There is only one solution if you wanted to use a pesticide and that is Permethrin insecticide. Some of they are "safe" for flower and will evaporate out after two weeks. If you do decide to use them, give them buds a really good wash at the end of it. You could use predatory mites but you would need a lot to cull that infestation and they are not cheap best to use them as a preventive vs an active solution to this problem. Other option is just kill the whole thing and burn it. Toss out/bake the soil it was growing in as it might house eggs that have fallen off and will repeat the cycle. I've had mites before outdoors and I sprayed them with a daisy tea I made and it helped kill them off a bit. I also washed the buds but they come back every year outdoors. hard to keep the fuckers away, same with aphids. Good Luck!

@Natrona, Thank you so much! If you have any advice or suggestions please feel free to let me know. We are trying to shape it to be the most accessible series for new growers and old growers to learn everything they need to know about how to grow the finest craft cannabis in their own homes. These first 2 series are focusing on the basics & using autoflowers to do it. Then after this one we are moving onto photoperiods to teach how to cut clones, Raise moms & pheno hunt. Each series putting more of the puzzle together adding to the complexity to not overload people too much all at once.

Looking good so far! You might want to look into lowering those night time air temperatures if you can. Some people water with ice water before lights out. Personally, I have never harvested a purple crop indoors, but I know they like cooler temperatures for that color to really pop through. Hope this helps a little, and congrats!

@Natrona, your welcome, try giving them nutrients every other feed, ie - feed, then plain water, I find that helps with the nute burn, your always better off under feeding than over feeding. Your doing great. 💯👌🏼

@Drgreen13, Thanks for the visit and encouragement. I've learned a lot so far. I know I didn't do everything optimally. I have 3 different strains (should be different appearance) growing and they look identical...dark greenish blue. Too much fertilizer, too much heat and humidity. their leaf tip are brown and curling up. I want to take them out of their misery but I will be patient for another week or two

@Ju_Bps, Thanks for the visit and encouragement. Based on growmies comments, I need another week or two. Funny, I have always been a patient person but I'm anxious to complete this grow to take my ladies out of their misery. But more importantly, I want to try again establishing a new process from my experience and seeing what the plants can and should do.😊
