Heya Farmers,
not a lot to mention this week, so I figured I'd share my Calcium Hypochlorite recipe to help keep my reservoir free of life
It's comparable to the popular UC Roots product by current culture, and similar in application, the only difference is mine is stronger at a fraction of the price.
So you need two things, Calcium Hypochlorite Granules with around 70% Available Chlorine (Some pool shock products are literally this) and a precision scale.
for Calcium Hypochlorite I use HTH Pool shock, its 67% Chlorine, don't just buy HTH pool shock, as its contents vary by country, try and buy pure Calcium Hypochlorite from an online Lab supply store, its dirt cheap and 1 KG will last you a lifetime for less than 40 bucks,
So I want 2ppm of free Chlorine in my reservoir, this will slow down growth of bacteria, and is still relatively low in dose! Check the chlorine of your Calcium Hypochlorite, Mines 67%
the following is the calculations I use, feel free to adjust the formulas to your needs:
2 ppm chlorine from 67% strength Calcium Hypochlorite and I want to fill an empty 2 liter bottle of 0.5% Chlorine which will serve as my stock solution
(2000x0,5) / 67 = 14,9
14,9 grams of 67% strength Calcium Hypochlorite to get a 2L Chlorine bottle with 0.5% strength
so then after that I want to turn that stock bottle of 5000mg Chlorine per liter into 2mg/liter which is 2 ppm..
(0,0002x1000) / 0,5 = 0.4
which is 0.4, so 0.4 ml of the stock solution per liter of water then gets me 2mg/l total chlorine in my plant buckets
I use a very small dose as a prevention, as at low Ph this turns into Hocl, same as uc roots, this damages the roots, but sterilizes the reservoir, its a small trade off, so don't blast it with full dose in flower unless you need it
Good luck growing
weird mutations. the nanners and the leaf bud. Brother, are you 100% sure there is no light leakage? because leaf buds often happen when reveg in flower and the nanners are a sign of stress. Maybe check the light timers or check if light is really out if it should be. So maybe thats a problem? But i bet it will turn out great!
@Seedler, yeah no leaks, it's just how she be.
Oddly it's not uncommon for this strain, when going over the potential causes i checked other diaries, both the nanners and weird leaf mutation are very present.
Her environment mid flower was way off, but the vpd is on point now, there's actually not a lot of bananas
You got a great pheno! Mines much less purple. I doubt it’ll look purple once it’s been dried n chopped but dam it smells amazing so I don’t care! Haha
