After the insane return from my last NG run, I decided to give it another go w/ the primary goal of increasing top-shelf bud yield. Although a super low-yielder, I pulled 40g and 45g of **PREMO** flower from two plants during my last run. Soil issues, short veg, and terrible LST execution all contributed to a stunted yield. W/ these lessons learned, I'm hoping to cultivate two monsters! Fingers crossed 😁 Week 1 in the books and seedlings are developing. Much more to come!

Both plants have transitioned well from seedling to veg -- Both healthy. During the first two weeks, I've focused on getting a high RH (70-75%), moist soil to aid in microbial growth, and zero-in the PPFD transition from 250 to 400. I add 1/8 tsp of Recharge at every watering. Additionally, I've begun the grow routine of spraying topsoil w/ neem oil as a pest preventive measure (I've never had any pest or mold issues using this method). Touch of molasses at the end of week 2 to get the microbes buzzing. Regarding cal-mag supplementation, I begin earlier than most growers at the end of week 2 -- Even w/ seemingly great soil w/ plenty of amendments, I always seem to see rust spotting by week 4. I find it good practice to begin a light cal-mag supplement early in veg and carry through until harvest. If anyone has thoughts to share regarding cal-mag, please send them my way! Always happy to learn from other growers 😁

I always seems to run into calcium issues (rusting and interveinal chlorosis) around wk 4. While early use of bottled cal-mag (TPS, "organic") has worked very well, I'd like to be able to simply add an additional organic dry amendment in my line-up vice bottled nutes. Any ideas?

Blood and bone meal is a great slow release addition to soil for calcium. Volcanic rock dust is great for magnesium and dozens of other trace elements.

Weeks 2 to 4 are always a joy to watch -- So much rapid change in such a short amount of time! The plants were mere seedlings last week, but now they're full-on veg and almost ready to train. Fun stuff! 😁 I topped both plants between 4th and 5th nodes a couple days into week 3. Every watering now incorporates: 1ml of organic cal-mag per gallon, 1/8 tsp recharge, and a top-soil neem spray (preventive maintenance). Soil amended w/ Coast of Maine 1 cup earthworm castings, 1/4 cup lobster meal, and 1/4 cup organic plant food. I tend to feed dry-amendments a little earlier than needed, so there's certainly some "waste" there, but I prefer that over correcting for deficiencies. 55-70% RH mid veg. I think I'm still over-watering my plants (current state w/ slightly wrinkly leaves)...This has been such a hard habit to shape in my growing experience haha!

I've never seen two shoots develop from one side of a node before. Assuming this is a good surprise - another COLA - but I'm curious to learn how common this is. Any insight?

It’s a polyploid or possibly fasciated. If that stem seems much thicker and or wider than others it’s fasciation. Honestly not a fan of this, gets weird in flower usually

Shifting into mid-veg and the plants are responding wonderfully to LST. I slowly work LST into the grow routine by setting any initial bend, then carefully adjusting every two days to ensure light penetration at lower sites. 2-3 more weeks and I'll shift to 12-12 for flower transition 😁

Responding well to LST. Balancing a few variables: signs of cal def, new increase in water uptake, spiraling new growth (heat stress), and high temps. 550 PPFD a bit too much, so I backed down to 500. It's been a couple days since adjusting and both plants are looking much better. I plan on taking her another week in veg before flipping to flower: *1 gal every two days: recharge, angels, and cal mag* 26FEB 24hr Compost Tea (1 gal): 1/2 cup lobster compost, 2 ml cal mal, 1/2 worm castings, 1/4 tsp recharge, 1/2 tsp angels, and 1 tbsp molasses. 27FEB top-dress: 1/4 cup lobster meal, 1/4 cup OPF, 1 cup earthworm castings.

So, I think I've *finally* figured out a recurring issue in late veg -- Plants have historically been calcium deficient (interveinal chlorosis). I'd played around w/ too many variables (water, humidity, etc.), but when I increased to 3ml cal-mag per watering, the plants began to recover. Looks like I've simply been under supplementing calcium! I knocked out defoliation (soft lollipop), trained main COLAs to allow for mid-growth to catch up, and just lowered the net. First time doing SCROG, and while I'm not excited about drying individual COLAs (Won't be able to whole plant dry, I think), I think the extra light will do wonders. *1 gal every day: recharge, angels, and cal mag* 05MAR23 top-dress: 1/4 cup fish bone meal. Flipping to flower tomorrow or the following day.

Calcium particulate coming from humidifier. I'm using soft water (from a well), but it seems like there's still build-up. I added water softener salt tablets to the humidifier, but I don't think changed anything (ion exchange w/o a charge?). Distilled water expensive...Ideas?

depending how your humidifier works, RO / DISTILLED water may not work. The cold steam ones use ultra sonic waves to mist the water and some of them require minerals to be present in the water to work right. I also demineralise mine once a month/week with vinegar and and a mix of citric/asorbic acids. they eat away all that shit real fast. add in h202 to help break it up and clean the reservoir tank. The cold mist ones will always leave mineral coats on things that are static charged it just a after effect of them. I sometimes add in a splash of vinegar to the tank when its in use to help but it does make the house small like vinegar a bit. if its a wicking style or heat based one. just soak the wick / tank in CLR or same acid solution above. will take a bit but its how you get the caked on mineral crust lower. could also collect rain water and use that as an option. May want to boil it first to prevent any other things from growing in it, this is more of an issue with wicking style humidifier and smells comeing from the wick but ultrasonic versions also aerosolize water particles that bactera can hitch a ride on then you breath them in.

I've never grown plants w/ this many top-sites, so big win here 😁 I did minor defoliation prior to flipping, but you can't even tell given the explosion in growth. I'll continue to shape to ensure light penetration over the coming weeks. Can't wait to see what these gals become! As a side note, SCROG is terrible haha! Much more work needed from my fat ass to to effectively manage. Probably the last time I'll do it, but happy I got to experiment w/ a new technique.

Growth is exploding. Dense, frosty looking baby buds. These gals will really kick into beef mode in Week 15 (Wk 9 flower) -- I plan on harvesting on the earlier side this pump to experiment w/ higher levels of milky trich dev, less amber. Will press most of the flower into rosin for long-term freezer storage. On autopilot through harvest -- Easy day! 😁🙏 *Interesting mutation on one COLA. Have seen this from other growers on S1G NG, but never seen it on my own plants.*

There is no mutation, but the one your referring to is a polyplody I believe. Go easier on nitrogen in flowering. Nitrogen can hinder bud development in bulking. They want a lot of potassium, and phosphorus with very little nitrogen in bulking. I can tell by the darker shade of green. 👍🏻🌱

Plants are looking prime, so just coasting into the slow bulk before harvest. They smell amazing; fruity (sweet citrus), gassy, and a touch of lavender! I'm typically a joint guy, but I can't wait to press these...NG dabs are potent, my friends ! 🙌😁 Also, a question to the GD community...What are your thoughts on bud quality at US dispensaries? I've recently made trips to Denver, Kansas City, and Chicago...The bud was *SO* disappointing. What the hell is going on? I didn't have much experience w/ cannabis until I started growing, so maybe I have a terribly unreliable baseline, but flower in all three states was such a let down (and expensive as hell haha!). I purchased "premo" products (Cresco Cannabis), but I was left feeling like I just bought from a middle school dealer...dry, weak scent, and almost no taste...Where are the terps!? I don't want to be too quick on patting myself on the back, but damn, how is my product 5X better?? Aren't these cannabis companies full of master growers? What are y'all's thoughts/experience? What am I missing?

Last week before chop -- Unfortunately, I'll have to take these gals down a week earlier than desired due to an upcoming move. No sweat as the trichomes are already full-swing cloudy...The only bummer is that I *know* these genetics bulk big time during week 9 flower. We do what we can, right? Nothing but pH'd water during this last week. More to come :)

While these gals are super healthy and look great (What do you think?), I'm looking for high-standard criticism/advice. Are these leaves too dark (Slight claw on certain leaves, N excess?)? Also see very minor tip burn. I'm using organic slow-release amendments...?

Nitrogen is the most abundant in terms of % for plant, Pottasium 2nd, Nitrogen is also the most sensitive in terms of toxicity of all the macro and micronutrients, once the plant stops veg growth and gets past the stretch the need for nitrogen is almost gone. N & K share the largest nutrients highways or "channels", at a certain point in flower you want 100% of those channels pumping potassium up that channel, any nitrogen uptake detracts from the "capacity" of those channels, also any slow release nitrogen at this point as its no longer needed, coupled with nitrogen being very sensitive it can lead to toxicity. Plants look beautiful and are you really feeding if tips are not a little burnt? :) mid to late flower in a perfect world we want the soil void of nitrogen, this will also cause the plant to start cannibalising existing NITROGEN which is a "mobile nutrient" Once it is depleted from the soil the plant will "eat" or "reallocate" existing nitrogen within veg growth and use it to make new flowers, this is why you see some grows turn yellow ass the chlorophyll degrades other carotenoids, purples reds, yellows will show through, this will also help vastly with smoothness if performed in conjunction with a perfect long slow dry/cure. hope it helps brothaaaaaaa from the big mother!

Aaaand....CHOP! Let's get the complaining out of the way -- Screw reusable trellis nets! Never again will I use one. I wasn't able to defoliate like I needed to (way more popcorn than desired) and the take down was a bitch. There are a ton of growers who turn to this technique, but a big "no thank you" for me 😂 The one positive from the burdensome take-down was that my fingers were *covered* in fruity/lavender heaven! I haven't smelled my fingers this much since...😂 If you can, get your hands on S1G seeds. These genetics are second to none and the main reason why they grew the way they did; very little work on my end. I'll provide a much more thorough analysis following the 10-day dry.
