So here we go again. This time there are 4 ladies from Dutch Passion - Critical Orange Punch - and I am very exited how this growing session ist going to be. I have changed some of the hardware: the Kind LED got replaced with 2 Sanlight S2W. All in all there are 4 Sanlight S2W but in week 1 and 2 there will only be 2 in use. That's the plan. Let's see how the plants will grow from day 1 to day 90 (the plan). The medium is coco which was really good last time and so I am using it again. Enjoy watching and if you have any question feel free to ask.
The seeds have germinated in Easy Plugs which never disappointed me in the past (100% germination) and were kept in their prison for around 10 days (the plan was to get them earlier into the box but that's how life is). Today they got into the box and enjoy their new home for the first day. See you tomorrow!
Day 2: The babies got their first nutrients and headed towards the light. Looks like they are enjoying it so far. Had to clean the tubes by removing the droppers.
Day 4: No big changes thus no new pictures. Found out I gave 'em too much water so chaned the automatic settings. The pots are way to heavy for there little plants and the roots were drowning. Hopefully that's the reason because there is no big change to day 1.
Day 6: It's like having babies. In the beginning nothing seems to change and suddenly they are big. This describes day 6 the most. I did not take photos today because I thought (seriously!) "hm, still the same size". But I know they spread their roots so they can grow big. It's kinda easy to imagine: If a tree had no big roots they'd fall with every little storm. That's nature! Science bitches! 😂
I will take some pictures tomorrow. And then daily, maybe?! 😉
Day 7: I stopped giving them water since yesterday because the pots have been too heavy for these little plants and the roots can easily drown. So I think this helped them to develop some growth but I still know that the main part is actually within the coco: rooting. More roots = more fruits! See you tomorrow to week 2 and day 8 with my little COPs 😎
Alright, this is week number #2 and you are LIVE at the growth of Critical Orange Punch. The iOS app killed all my fertilizers (non custom) and my text on day 11 so everything is written new.
On day 8 one of the plants had some stability problems which where fixed for one day. The water timer is for daytime (yellow) and nighttime (blue). On day 8 they where given 7 minutes within 16h water + nutrients. 1 min drops 10ml per dropper so on day 8 each plant got 140 ml. Sprayed VeloKelp for the first time onto the leafes.
Day 9 nothing new just a little growth. I turned on the last 2 missing Sanlights. Now there are 4 Sanlights S2W giving them energy. Sprayed VeloKelp again
Day 10 sprayed VeloKelp and turned down the ph. Removed the help for "the alcoholic" and she stood alone. What a progress! 😄
Day 11: fucked up my diary with the buggy iOS alpha app and had to reset all my fertilizers and write a new text. Decided not to use the app for any diary changes.
The plants looking good but I increased the fertilizers a bit I think they are not at their optimum growth. EC is at 0.97 - could be some more?! - Edit: I sorted the pictures today and will be keeping doing it 😎
Day 12: I topped them plants today. They have to get bushy to use all the space they get (40x40 cm for each). That's why I used one plant less. The drunken one has again some stability problems but I will leave her and she has to get up on her own. Since I have one less plant I will try to take pictures of each daily and it should be possible to keep them apart even after the stretch. The pictures were taken AFTER the topping has happened.
Day 13: Ph'ed down a bit and checked the EC which was 1.09. Plant 1 has the best growth. Plant 2 is the slowest. Plant 3 and 4 are okay. I think they look a bit like Nitrogen is missing. Will increase the fertilizer tomorrow. Pulled down the watering from 900 ml to only 180 ml coz I thought they looked a bit like overwatered. See you tomorrow!
Week #3, day 15! The growth could be a little faster for me but okay, maybe I have to compare the EC from last grow. I added some fertilizer (A+B+Booster) and checked the EC which was raised by 0.2
I will check if it will be faster now. Also I saw that there is a little hole in one of plant #3's leafes. Will keep an eye on it. Possibly just not enough fertilizer which was the easiest solution. Anything else could be a pest or root cancer or something even creepier. Stay tuned and cu tomorrow!
Day 16: The plants grow well and I only ph'ed down to 5.8
Day 17: Added new water to the tank with some fertilizer. Did not measure the EC afterwards. Ph is at 5.6. Added a little Gen200 Control because it makes them plants a little stronger. Have you noticed how thick the stems have become? Nope, you haven't because I did not show you 😁
I'm wondering if the raised ferilizer will increase (will it?) the plants' growth. Really excited about tomorrow!
Day 18: Today I raised the EC by putting in some more Coco A+B and Universal Boost. Also I ph'ed down too much to 5.3. Will check tomorrow if ph is up again. And I stopped giving them water from today onfor about 5-6 days. I want them roots to explode. But also I have to check the plant will survive this. By the way this trick is something I have seen from Greenhouse Seeds (check youtube for their grow videos). But I forgot to take pictures today 😕 I need to get more focused 😀
Day 19: No changes, No water for them. (No pictures)
Day 20: Pots are dried out and the downer leafes were getting yellow so I turned on the water with nutrients again. Also the plants look a bit sad because they did not get any water for 2 days. They will get 600 ml watermix now when the lights are on. I compared this grow with my last grow and decided I will not use any "new" strains because I feel like they are slower. But it is also possible that it's the different LED which does not use as much power as the Kind LED did. They started to smell a little but I like it
Alright and welcome to week 4, day 22. As you can see something is wrong. I think it's some Mag that is missing so I added some MagO 10 and I hope the problems will go away. If you guys think it is something different, leave a comment and we can discuss this 😎 I raised the water to 1.2 liters a day.
I also wondered how this could happen. Everything is okay at the measurements so how does this occur?
Day 23: The problems are still there but it seems they grew a bit overnight. I added Calcium today because some of you guys tell me it's Calcium deficiency. Well let's check back tomorrow. And wish me good luck! 😁
Day 24: Alright, I suck. I measured the runoff from plant 1 and it was way too high. Just like me sometimes (I forgot to take a picture of plant 4 today, have no clue how that shit happened. Yes I can count to 4 👽). What you guys thinking about EC 3.25 ph 5.9 @ the runoff? I don't think that's good so I lowered the EC in the tank by putting in fresh water.
How did it come this far? Well, I probably did not give enough water. Meaning it was enough for the plants, yes, but there was no or not enough runoff. So the salts (fertilizer) came to EC 3.25 in the substrate.
I'm "flushing" now with EC 1.25 and will check back tomorrow how the runoff will be.
When I measured the runoff from all 4 plants together EC was 2.1 - which is only a little too high, I am trying to reach 1.6 - 1.8 . Let's check back tomorrow. For forgetting the picture of plant 4 today, I made a video.
Day 25: The flushing was good. The plants look healthier again and the runoff is only 1.7 now. EC in the water tank is 1.35, ph 5.5. Also I removed some of the downer leafes. And I created this SCRoG net. So I just have to give them more water each day. So much there's about 20% runoff but I don't think I can measure or calculate 20% runoff. So I'll do it by feeling. Seems to work for now.
Day 26: Looks like the plants are okay again. I only checked the ph and EC which were good.
Day 27: The plants grow against the net. Also there are some waterdrops on the leafes which means that there is not enough air rotating inside the box. Have to check the airflow tomorrow.
Day 28: Last day of vegetation. Just ph'ed down a bit.
So this is week #5, first week of flowering, day 29, the first day the light goes off after 12 hours.
I added bloom stimulator for the first time.
Also I cleaned the filter of the bio-pump and it was really dirty.
The plants are having problems again so I added MgO + Calcium again because the EC inside the pots should be okay. I will check the runoff again tomorrow if the EC is too high.
Day 30: Oh yes, the EC in the runoff was too high. To be exact it was 4.0; ph 5.7 - I pushed down the solution to EC 1.1 in the tank. Problems are still there but I will check the runoff again tomorrow. This is not that easy coz of the net. The net is also the reason why I only measure the runoff from plant 1. I have to figure out, how much water they need + approx 20% runoff and I have no clue how to do this. I cannot sit tthere looking at them for 12 hours and reconfiguring the watering system on the flow (even though if I had the time I probably would do that 😀).
What you're looking at are four Critical Orange Punch genetics on day 30 doing their daily training which includes "getiing under the net". They probably suffer from Cal deficiency (if it's true) caused by too much fertilizer in the medium.
At least that's what I think is happening here. If you think it's something else leave a comment!
Day 31: Removed some of the bigger leafes to get some more airflow between the leafes. There were some water drops on them that occure because of the sweat of the leafes. I need another fan for the box. Also the plants made their daily exercises and got under the net. The problems are fading I think. Will check the runoff tomorrow again.
Day 32: What did I do today? I measured the runoff which was really confusing to me.
Plant 1: EC 3.0
Plant 2: EC 2.25
Plant 3: EC 1.6
Plant 4: EC 1.8
Can somebody explain this to me? 😨
I flushed plant 1 then. EC afterwards was 0.6. Also I added Cal and Mag again to the water solution. The EC in the tank is at 1.3 and that's lower than each EC from them plants.I set the timer to 1 hour interval 20 minutes watering which will give them approx 400ml every hour. Can somebody explain to me how to set the right water flow???
Also I cut off (hopefully) all lower branches that would only create popcorn buds which are not my favorite kind of buds 😁 + I removed some leafes to get a better airflow in between this jungle of leafes 😎
Day 33: I added some Bloombastic and removed some more leafes and branches under the net. Also I set the EC to 1.5 after measuring the runoff from all plants mixed which was 1.3 just like in the tank. The new leafes look very bright to me so I think there was probably Nitrogen missing. EC 1.5 should be ok and I will check back tomorrow.
Day 34: Only measurements that were ok.
Day 35: I did nothing special on the last day of week 5. only ph‘ed down and forgot to take pictures.
Welcome to week 6 with four tall ladies of Critical Orange Punch. They grew a bit and I removed some of the lower branches that did not get enough light and were too small and thin.
The plants look healthy and seem to like their 1.5 EC nutrients mix.
Day 37: I only measured ph and EC which were both ok (5.8 & 1.6)
Day 38: I added 20l water to the tank and added some nutrients including Calcium and Mag. I hope to prevent them from getting these rust spots with the CalMag. EC is set to 1.7, ph 5.5
Day 39: Ph down to 5.7 (before it was 6.0), EC is at 1.8. Gonna get the EC down a bit when the tank is getting empty. And I removed some smaller branches again because I don't wanna get exclusive popcorn buds. And I measured the height again which is 50cm in average. I hope they stop growing soon and start producing flowers because the space above is getting smaller and smaller. And I cleaned the bio-pump completely.
Day 40: I cut down some smaller branches to get more airflow between the leafes and because I don't want popcorn buds. And I stopped giving them water. The plan is to keep it stopped for 2-3 days to dry them out. I am wondering when the flowers will appear.
Day 41: nothing
Day 42: Some more stretching, the highest branch is 74cm in average they have approx 64cm. Added some Bloombastic to the tank and put the watering system on again. The pots were really light and empty but the plants looked pretty smooth. Also I added Gen200 again.
Welcome to week #7.
Today I added 1 Blossom builder tab. I wanted to use only half of it but I could not break it. I refilled the tank and added some nutrients, the EC is at 2.28 which CAN BE too high, I have to check tomorrow. I will try to reach 2.2 with the next refill. Ph was at 5.5 without doing anything for it maybe the tab pulled it down. Well, cu tomorrow!
Day 44: Today the water in the tank was a bit smelly and foamily so I added 20l of fresh water + 50ml of Purolyt which should at least sterilize the water a bit. Also I reduced the EC to 1.87 and dropped the ph a little too much down to 5.4. Need to check back tomorrow how the plants look. Ph was very high today around 6.4. Dang, they got really high. Not much space left in height.
Day 45: Added another 25ml Purolyt to the tank coz it's still been smelly.
Day 46: No changes no photos.
Day 47: I checked the ph which was at 5.9 and I was wondering if I should put it down. I did not do it because I will have to refill the tank tomorrow and add new nutrients and all. What I had to do today was bending three branches down. They grew into one of their "suns" (the LED lights) I thought about adding a new grownet but to be honest I was too lazy to build one. The height of the Box is too low. That's the main point. For the next grow my plan is to get a bigger box. Also I removed some small branches and mini branches under the net. Need to control the height of the plants every day now. I hope their stretch is over now. 🙏
Day 48: Oh my gosh! The streeeeeeeetch is sooooooo muuuuuuuuuuch! I have now really problems in height. I would have to use another net to get them all down but this would not help overall. I am trying to get a higher box within this week.
Today I refilled the tank and added CalMag to prevent, yeah, you know the story if you follow this diary. If not step back to week 4 😌
Set the EC to 1.9 and ph to 5.8 and wished they do not stretch again overnight. If they to I will have to bend all the branches down.
Alright guys & girls this is week #8 and if you haven't seen it yet: yes it's a new box! I had to because the plants were getting too high and I already used a SCRoG net. I skipped day 50 in the diary because that was the day I bought the new box.
It took me a few hours to get all the stuff from one box into another. But it was worth the time! The plants feel better now because they have a lot more space. So I hope they will gimme more harvest even though I do not think it will be as much as in the last grow. Why?! Because I am using new LEDs which do not use as much power as the KIND LED did. That's just why. But maybe with more space... we will see it in the end. Wish me luck! 😁
So what did I do else on day 51 & 52? I turned off the watering system because the pots were heavy and I will dry them out one last time and hope they will produce more roots (more roots = more fruits!). Even though the pots are pretty filled with roots. I noticed that when I put back the droppers into the pots 👊 On day 52 the pots still contained water. Maybe I should have flushed them first but I forgot that point. Time will tell. Stay tuned! Cheers! 😎
Day 53: I pulled the ph down to 4.4 which was much too low. So I added 8 liters of fresh water which brought it back to 5.6. The plants look beautiful and the pots were really empty so I turned on the water again.
I removed some lower branches again because they were outta the lights.
Day 54: ph'ed a bit down and took some photos. Pretty happy with the new setup 👽
Day 55: only ph'ed down
Day 56: did not do anything
Week Number 9 and we still got some time to go.
I didn't do something special, I just removed some loose leafes by heavy shaking them plants. The plants look great and the smell is fantastic! 👽
Luckily it's only 3 weeks until harvest. Me likey! 😁
Day 60: Not doing much atm but today I cut off some really thin branches. These branches couldn't even hold as much weight as I EXPECT them to hold . So I hope it did not kill their growth and producing big buTT... buds 😍
New week new luck. Week #10 and we are almost ready to harvest. I check only daily ph and EC and sometimes I refill the tank. That's all I'm doing at the moment.
I will be on holiday so don't expect daily updates but I will manage to be posting here 😎
Holiday update: I keep the EC and ph stable. Soon they will get their flush. Last grow I only flushed for 1 week, this time it will be longer, 10 to 14 days is the plan.
Oh no!!! Some mold made it into my biggest buds while I was on holiday. Some mistakes I made: too much watering and the fan was on the ground blowing the air up. Now it's on the buds height and will probably help prevent them buds from molding. I removed all of the molding buds, one of them was a mainbud. Shit happens! Hopefully the rest is save.
Mold is shit!!!
Oh no mold again! We‘re in week 12 and I flushed them two days ago with 5 liters of pure H2O2.
I cut off all the molding flowers and threw them away. I try to get the air humidity lower so the mold will (hopefully!) disappear or at least not spread. Dammit‘
It's botrytis 😩
Alright, this is an early harvest as the mold did not want to stop spreading. This is the first time I am trying a dry trim and possibly the last.
The buds are dense but not as dense as before. FOR NOW To be honest this is the first strain I would not recommend. Just because of the lacking mold resistance.
Even though the air humidity was way too high I‘ve had other plants without mold.
Day 3 after the harvest the buds look good and the humidity is at 68% max.
I found four buds with mold during the drying process which I were destroyed immediately.
It’s a shame to lose good buds on mold but as I said: keep learning, recognize your mistakes and prevent them next time.
Hopefully I will get some buds without mold. Stay tuned for the complete harvest diary in a few days00
All in all the outcome is pretty good even though I lost some of the biggest buds to mold. Not bad. It's okay now. The buds are in bags in jars and get some fresh air every day while checking them for any signs of mold. We're not over it, I feel it!
Note: One plant had a lot of popcorn buds! Pretty much work in the trimming process afterwards. Big buds got mold because of high humidity and too much water. Some improvements over there next grow 🙌0
