Here we go on another run together and trust me, this will definitely be something different and very interesting as I've been invited to be a 'Test Grower' for Terpyz Genetics.
Formerly Terpyz x Kalyseeds who, for those 'in the know', are known for their breeding of cannabis mutations and the results they've gotten. Terpyz has asked me to perform a pheno hunt on two of their new MUTANT strains; DW IBL x (Pablo Picasso | Lemon Alien NL) x Blue Booby and Z.U.P. SWAG V4 Big Purple and I'll tell you... I'm SUPER stoked to get these seeds germinated and begin to increase my knowledge of growing these mutant strains!
So how this hunt is going to work is this: Germinate 10 seeds(regulars) of each strain, grow out the plants and establish which are Male/Female, remove ALL males and continue to grow and photograph the females picking out the female of each strain which best represents the traits that the breeder is seeking... sound like fun doesn't it!

There's not a lot of information on this strain yet because it's so new but what I've been able to gather so far is, that one phenotype of Z.U.P Swag was a tall plant with a Christmas tree structure had purple flowers, and leaves with prominent purple coloration. It also had good flower structure, and excellent vigor. The only other data I could gather is that the male used was from a Opalo population which was selected in the 2nd generation, with dense flower structure and great terpenes! I'm sure this grow will add to the available knowledge of this strain!

WEEKLY UPDATE:
2/2- Today I planted 10 seeds of each of the two strains provided to me by Terpyz Mutant Genetics into plastic starter cups filled with un-amended 70/30 Coco/Perlite mix and were moistened, via a spray bottle, with 7.0ph spring water. I chose today as it is two days before the full moon here, and I strongly believe in the moon cycles being able to positively affect several aspects of cannabis cultivation.
I have the starter cups on a digitally controlled heat mat set to 75℉ which is in a germination tray w/ lid set in an AC Infinity 4x4 tent, in which I currently have a 200w Unit Farm UFL 3000 hung at 42" above the tray and set to 24hrs on right now. Once all the seeds have broke ground I'll switch the cycle to 18/6. I'm maintaining a 78-79℉ temperature in the tent with an RH of 56%.
Having started these seeds directly in the medium without any 'pre-soak' means that they'll take anywhere from 48-96 hours to sprout and break ground so my objective now is to make sure that the cups do not completely dry out, not stay too wet until I see life! Fingers crossed! 😎🤞
2/5- A couple of the Z.U.P. SWAG Big Purple V4 seeds broke ground today 72 hours after being planted! Later in the day some of the Duckweb IBL X Alien Picasso F1) X Blue Booby F1's started to show up and were quickly outnumbering the SWAG seeds in germination rate.
2/6- Both strains are continuing to break ground. Unfortunately, I have had a couple of seeds from each strain sprout and then fail shortly thereafter. I'm still waiting on three to pop up from the 'DW IBL' batch and five from the 'Z.U.P. Swag' batch. I'll continue to monitor the seedlings, keeping them moist, along with looking out for the remaining seeds that have yet to emerge.
2/8- Well folks, at this point its been almost a week since I planted the 20 seeds ( 10 of each strain) and at the time of this entry I have 7 of the DW IBL x (Pablo Picasso | Lemon Alien NL) x Blue Booby F1's and 5 of the Z.U.P. SWAG Big Purple V4's that are all looking fantastic! I do have one of the Z.U.P. SWAG Big Purple V4 seeds that has emerged but had its shell stuck on it. I eventually couldn't take looking at the poor thing any longer and decided to VERY delicately attempt to 'help' it shed the 'helmet' it was wearing so that the poor things leaves could open. I was successful and the shell was removed without incident. I only wish I had done this sooner as now I'm wondering if it will open up, allowing light onto its leaves and, hopefully surviving... time will tell.
Well, there's the week of germination on the books and I'm honestly absolutely giddy about the upcoming weeks ahead when I'll get to see how these mutant strains develop... hope to see you there!
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 😎🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
2/9- Here we go into the first week of veg for these cuties!
All of the babies have their first real leaves deployed and will soon need to undergo their first transplant into larger pots. Luckily enough one of the Z.U.P. SWAG seeds, which had previously sprouted but had its shell stuck until I gave it an assist, survived and has joined the others!
I still have one of the DW IBL's the had a similar issue with a stuck shell that I similarly gave an 'assist' on, but it had still not opened up. Upon close inspection today I saw that the inner membrane of the shell was still wrapped around the cotyledon's so I, super gently removed it. I figured that since I had already basically 'written off' that seed it was worth the risk to go in and mess with it, which I normally would never do on a seedling that small but this one was obviously hell bent on surviving so I keep an eye on it and see what happens!
Currently all I'm doing is making sure that their medium stays relatively moist by watering them twice daily via a spray bottle filled with well water that is ph'd to 6.4 @ 75℉.
2/11- Today I prepped medium for transplanting the whole group into larger pots so they can start to get some nutrition as they are currently in sterile medium. My medium mix for this transplant consists of Mother Earth 70/30 Coco/Perlite with 1 cup/g of Wiggle Worm castings and 2 tbsp/g of Gaia Green 4-4-4 All Purpose slow release dry amendment, which I thoroughly mix by hand (make sure you wear a dust mask as you don't want to breath this in).
I used some 5" Jiffy peat pots for this first transplant which I filled with my medium mix. After transplanting into the 5" pots, I watered them in with well water that I ph'd to 6.5 @ 74℉ and placed them back in the 4x4. I have the light hung 40" above them currently and will let them grow into it for a bit before I take it any lower. Next week I'll be adjusting the light cycle to 14/10 for 2-3 weeks at which time I'll probably flip it to 12/12 for a week to induce flowering. After flowering begins and I can determine the sexes of the groups, I'll remove all male plants. After removing all of the males, I'll return the light cycle back to 18/6 and revert the females that remain back into veg until I decide which I'll be moving outdoors to finish and which will be flowering in the tent.
2/13- Today I checked all the pots and they were lite so I went ahead and watered all the seedlings with well water that I ph'd to 6.5 @ 74℉. I gave them each enough to thoroughly moisten the medium, after which their pots were noticeably heavier.
Today I was ready to dispose of one of the failed DW IBL seeds which had sprouted but had its shell stuck preventing it from opening. I subsequently removed the shell but he cotyledon leaves never opened up and after two or three days I determined it to be a bust. Before chucking this one I used a magnifying glass and saw that it was the membrane from inside of the shell that was still stuck. Being as gentle as possible I scratched off the membrane and almost instantly the two cotyledon leaves began to open, completely yellow but opened!
2/15- I skipped watering today as they all look perky! I don't want the medium in the pots to dry out completely, but to be just moist before I water again in order for the roots to get oxygen.
Also, the little DW IBL is amazing... Within 48 hours it had dramatically transformed, turning green and had its first leaf set emerging! We now have Eight DW IBL's in the line up!
Well it's full speed ahead now to the 2nd week for the mutants and I personally can't wait for these to get bigger so we can see what the leaf structures are looking like between the two strains! See you next week! 😎🤙❤️
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
2/16- Here we go into Week 2 for both mutant stains and all are doing well and looking healthy!
Today I watered all the seedlings with 74℉ 6.3ph well water until their pots felt heavy and just started to have runoff.
I noticed today that three of the DW IBL's have really lite colored stems, almost white, while the remainder have purple stems... interesting!
Both strains are really doing well and I can't wait to see them as they get bigger and really begin to show their stuff!
2/18- Today both strains were watered until a little runoff had just begun with 6.4 ph well water that was 73℉.
All the seedlings are doing extremely well and I'm just starting to see the unique leaf structures that each strain has!
2/20- All of the plants are looking great! I'm continuing with my watering schedule of every other day. Today I gave each plant well water to which I added 1 tbsp/g of Unsulfured Black Strap Molasses and 5 ml/g of Earth Juice OilyCan, then ph'd it to 6.3 @ 74℉. When watering, I flood each of their pots to the rim twice, waiting in between for it to soak down, which ends up just starting to run out the bottom of the pot leaving them nice and heavy.
One of the DW IBL's (the #6) is showing some funky leaf structure and also has some variegation showing in the leaves as well... I'll be watching this one!
2/22- Yesterday I watered all with their usual dose of well water that I ph'd to 6.4 at 74℉ and turned their trays to give equal lighting to all regardless of their positions on the trays.
Well folk's that's a wrap for these mutant babies second week and now things should begin to get substantially more interesting with their differing leaf structures and variegation that some are showing.
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
2/23- Week Three is here and all the mutant seedlings are looking and doing fantastic!
So far, in the DW IBL's there are 2-3 that are really unique in appearance, as well as the same with the Z.U.P. SWAG's which are markedly taller and a little more vigorous compared to the DW's.
I watered all today with their regular regime of 74℉ well water that's ph'd to 6.3ph until their pots felt heavy and just started to have runoff.
They all are really beginning to take off now and I'm sure that it won't be long before I'll be transplanting them into larger pots!
2/25- Yesterday I let the mutants dry out and today went ahead and continued with their every other day schedule of watering. I watered all with well water that was ph adjusted to 6.5 @ 73℉.
2/27- All the seedlings are getting bigger now and all are looking very healthy. I'm going to continue with my planned transplant into larger pots for all which I'll do next week as they will be due for a freshening up of their amendments.
I'm watering daily now with well water that was ph adjusted to 6.2-6.5 @ 73-75℉, watering enough to get their pots heavy and just barley running out the bottom of the peat pot.
3/1- There goes three weeks and in the coming weeks we should really start to see the differences not only between these two strains, but also among individuals in each, which I find extremely interesting!
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
3/2- Here we go into Week Four with the two mutant strains!
All of the plants are looking happy and healthy with great color and vigor! You can really begin to see the different morphology in each of the two strains, even into individual plants in the strain. Yesterday I went ahead and topped the #2 Z.U.P. SWAG which was the tallest of the six. I'm curious to see how it reacts to it and also how the plants structure will be!
Daily watering continues and I'll be mixing soil this week in preparation for them all getting transplanted towards the end of the week. Once transplanted they should really start to take off and than the next step will be determining how many males are in each of the two groups so that they can be culled.
3/4- All the plants were watered today with the only change being 1 tbsp/g of Unsulfured Black Strap Molasses that I added to their water before I ph'd it to 6.5 @ 74℉.
3/6- Today was transplant day! I moved all the mutants from their small peat pots into 1.5g plastic pots which I filled with Mother Earth 70/30 Coco/Perlite and amended with 2 tbsp/g of Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 1 tbsp/g of Gaia Green 2-8-4 along with 3 cups of Wiggle Worm Castings and rounded tablespoon of Xtreme Gardening MYKOS.
I first watered all in their peat pots, to make removing a solid plug easier. I then basically tore away the wet Peat Pot and placed the plant into the 1.5g pot via a pre-dug hole, which I moistened with a spray bottle filled with 6.4 ph well water that had 1 tbsp/g of Unsulfured Black Strap Molasses added, that I sprinkled a teaspoon of MYKOS into. After placing the plants into their new pots I made sure that they were firmly set into the new medium, then watered them in with 1/4g of well water that I ph'd to 6.5 @ 74℉.
3/8- I watered all today with .25g of well water with 5 ml/g of Earth Juice OilyCann added and then ph'd to 6.4 @ 74℉.
Week four is gone and I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks when, hopefully, they will start to show their sexes so that any males can be removed from the run!
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
3/9- Here we go into the 5th week of veg for both mutant strains!
All the plants are looking and doing great with excellent color and vigor! I do have two of the Z.U.P. SWAG's that are exhibiting zero mutation, basically appearing as normal. The leaves on them have serrated tips that are possibly a little more pointy than a non-mutant, but barely noticeable.
All of the plants were watered today with .25g of well water that I added 5ml/g of Earth Juice OilyCann to, than ph'd it to 6.3 @ 74℉.
3/11- After checking all of the plants mediums today with a Soil Moisture Probe, their medium was still pretty moist so I did not water.
I have been keeping a close eye on the tent temperature and RH, keeping the temperature running at 76-78℉ when the light is on, and 70-72℉ when the light is off. The RH in the 4x4 has bee running 45-55%. I will very soon be replacing the Unit Farm 100w light with a HLG 225 which I feel the plants will benefit from its higher PPFD output.
3/13- Today All of the plants were watered with .5g of straight well water that I ph'd to 6.4 @ 73℉. After watering, I went ahead and turned all the pots 1/2 turn so all sides were getting even light exposure which should not be as big an issue when I switch over to the more powerful HLG 225 tomorrow!
3/15- Today after checking all with a Soil Moisture Meter they were all still wet so I skipped any watering and will wait for them to dry out another day or two.
All of the plants are doing great, even the #6 DW IBL which is absolutely the funkiest of the bunch with twisted branches and wild looking leaves!
While doing a routine check of my equipment, I noticed that the dial on my light timer was frozen effectively leaving the lights on for 24 hours. I check my equipment every two days so I don't think that it will have any detrimental effect on the plants. I do plan on changing the light cycle to 14 hours on / 10 hours off in preparation of placing some of the plants outside to finish once the weather here breaks in another month. When they're moved outside where they will be receiving approximately 13 1/2 hours of sunlight daily in the beginning. My thoughts are that by reducing the light cycle now it will reduce any stress caused from dropping from 18 hours of light to 13... we'll see!
Well it was an interesting week for sure and I'm really looking forward to Week 6 where hopefully I will start to be able to tell sexes on the plants! Thanks for visiting, I truly appreciate it! ❤️
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

3/16- Here we are at the start of Week 6 of veg and I have the light cycle at 15 hours on now so we should be seeing some plants showing their sex hopefully this week!
After letting all of the plants dry out for a couple of days, I watered all today with .25g of well water to which was added, 5ml/g Earth Juice OilyCann and DutchPro Silica Von Liebig - Special and then was ph'd to 6.5 @ 74℉.
3/18- Today the plants are all drying out so I'll skip watering. All the plants color and vigor remain excellent so I'll hold off a bit before top-dressing them. I'm now looking them all over closely daily, checking to see if any are expressing sex yet. So far, I don't see any 'nuts' growing anywhere, but as we all know that can change overnight! I'll continue to keep a close eye on them and will be culling any males as soon as they appear!
3/20- Yesterday four males reared their ugly heads and were culled... Three of the Z.U.P. SWAG's #'s 1, 4 & 6 and the #5 DW IBL. Hopefully there won't be anymore showing up, but I will be keeping a vigilant eye out for them!
I did not water today to let the plants dry out. Letting them dry out between watering ensures that oxygen will be pulled down to the roots when they're watered eliminating any chances of rot.
3/22- Today I decided to finally water all the plants as they were getting lite to lift. I watered each with .25g of well water that had 5ml/g of Earth Juice OilyCann added along with 1.
8ml/g of Dutch Pro Silica Von Liebig-Special that was then ph'd to 6.6 @ 72℉.
The #2 SWAG that was topped is growing like crazy, is the biggest of the group and is showing sex now with a few pistils now showing! The rest of the group all are doing fantastic and I'm keeping a vigilant eye out for any signs of males until all are confirmed female.
Now that all the plants are well established and in a growth spurt, the next few weeks ought to be getting more exciting! Hope to see you for Week 7 of veg, and thank you for checking me out! 😎❤️
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
3/23- Week Seven of Veg and the plants, with their plastic pots, aren't losing water as greatly through evaporation as they would if they were in fabric pots. As a result my watering frequency currently is once every 3-4 days and only after checking their medium with a soil moisture probe to make sure that it is not still too wet. I did not water today and only rotated all of the pots 1/4 turn.
3/25- I checked the plants today and went ahead and watered them with .25g of straight well water that was ph'd to 74℉. They are all really taking off now and I have to tell you the DW IBL's are my favorites so far as they just look incredible! 😍
3/27- All the plants medium's were still pretty moist today so watering was skipped. I'll continue my routine of checking their medium daily via a soil moisture probe.
Both strains are looking AMAZING with so many different leaf morphology's, and the variegation in a few really is cool looking! Some of the plants remind me of a pepper plant, others of Basil. They all have great vigor and color and seem to be enjoying the 225w from the HLG 225 that's hung 28" above them. The tent temperature when the light is on is staying a steady 78℉, and the RH running 50-58%. I have one 16" oscillating fan moving air and a 6" AC Infinity exhaust fan removing the heat.
3/29- Well there goes seven weeks in veg for the mutants! So far no other male plants have been identified and hopefully it will remain that way! I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks when I'll be moving a couple of plants outside to finish, the remainder indoors.
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
3/30- Here we go into Week Eight of veg for the 10 remaining mutants, seven of the DW IBL's and a trio of Z.U.P. SWAG's, and all are doing fantastic!
I'm continuing to monitor the moisture level in their pots with a soil moisture probe daily and, so far, they have only needed watering about once every 4-5 days which I'm digging! All the mutants were still moist today so all I really had to do was turn their pots 1/4 turn to ensure that they were getting equal light exposure to the entire plant.
The tallest of the group is the #8 at 18" which is funny because it was the last to germinate and had a rough start... look at her now and she's looking stellar! I'm continuing to keep my fingers crossed that I won't be finding anymore males in the group, which the odds against increase with each passing day!
4/1- I went ahead and watered all of the plants today. I filled a 2 1/2g watering jug with well water, to which I added 5 ml/g of Botanicare CalMag+ and 1 tbsp/g of Neptune's Harvest Seaweed Extract, then ph'd it to 6.2 @ 74℉. I split the 2 1/2g evenly, giving each approx. .25g each.
Now the #2 and #5 of the Z.U.P. SWAG's and the #8 DW IBL are confirmed females. I'm just waiting on the rest to begin showing their sex, which should be soon!
4/3- When I checked all the pots today they were all still good to go so watering was skipped and all I did was to give each of the 10 pots a 1/4 turn.
All of the plants are doing fantastic and I've subjected them to a 10℉ variance in temperature, light cycle changed from 18/6 to 15/9 and stretching out their watering to check out the stability of each strain... so far all are looking like Rock Star's!🤩
4/5- I watered today as all the plants were lite when lifted. They all received their usual .25g of well water, to which I added 5 ml/g of Botanicare CalMag+ and 1 tbsp/g of Neptune's Harvest Seaweed Extract, then ph'd it to 6.2 @ 74℉.
Our weather has warmed up dramatically and has affected my tent temp's now. Temperatures in the tent are running as high as 85℉ when the light is on. I also switched out the HLG225 for my UnitFarm 200w light, which has a remotely mounted ballast which I mount outside the tent, which I hope to lower the temperature some. I will say this, all of the plants are taking the drastic changes in their environment excellently, maintaining great color, vigor, and are constantly 'praying'! The only one to show any signs of issues so far is the #2 Z.U.P. SWAG which has begun to curl her shade leaf tips under, it also has begun to exhibit some dark brown on the tips of the serrated edge of the larger shade leaves. I'll be keeping an eye on this one and quickly try to identify the issue before it becomes drastic.
Lastly, no more additional male plants have been identified. Once I flip their light cycle to 12/12, within a week I will be able to positively ID any males that show, and give a final 'OK' to the remaining girls!
It's been a great week and we're almost ready to go into flower where it's really going to get fun! Hope to see you next week!💖💖💖
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️

WEEKLY UPDATE:
4/6- Here we go into the first week of flower for both mutant strains from Terpyz Mutant Genetics! After letting the plants veg for 60 days in the 4x4 under 200w of light, I moved them into my 4x8 that currently has in it 4 photoperiod's that will be finished up in the next week or two. The 4x8 has 3 HLG lights running in it, two HLG 650R's w/supplemental UV Bars and one HLG Blackbird that are all controlled by a TrolMaster Hydro X Controller which is set to a 12/12 cycle with a 20min Sunrise/Sunset programmed in. Currently the lights are approximately 26-28" above canopy and are running @ 50% power.
4/8- All the plants are doing great with the exception of the #2 Z.U.P. SWAG that has developed browning on the tips of her leaf edges. I can't figure it out as all of the other plants are looking healthy and all have been amended, watered and basically treated the same. The only distinct difference with the #2 Z.U.P. SWAG is that it is the only plant in the group that I topped.
I skipped watering for the third day as their medium was still moist. They are all in plastic pots, as opposed to the fabric pots I usually plant in, which I'm sure is why I'm not watering frequently due to less air exposure to the medium. This is another reason for not watering too often, letting them dry out between watering to let the roots get fresh oxygen drawn down into them.
4/9- 🌷HAPPY EASTER FAM!🌷😎🙏
4/10-
4/12-
Thank you very much for following along and for all the positive comments and ❤️! May ALL your days and grows be Blessed! 🙏❤️
