Starting week 6 of veg on Saturday.
I’m lowering the ph of my feed from 6.3 to 6.0 today. Hope to see an improvement in potassium uptake. I have a few leaves with burnt edges, which could be caused by bad ph. It could also be that these girls need a flush, but these GroBuckets don’t appear to have any method of flushing.
The GroBuckets remain the easiest method of growing that I have tried. I’m simply filling the bottom reservoir every day and they feed from the bottom. I’m also using coco coir (I usually grow in soil), so some of these leaf issues I’m seeing could be the result of my inaccurate feeding. Or….I have a salt buildup that’s starting to cause problems. The next few weeks should tell me if I have a salt buildup issue.
Note that this reservoir system does not buy you any time to ignore the plants. In fact, I believe I’m watering more often now than when I used fabric pots or Warrior Pots. The plants would take more water during each watering, but I could water every other day if I recall correctly. These reservoirs only hold one gallon max with no top-watering.
SUNDAY: I lowered the feed ph to 5.8. I’ve been informed that my 6.3 ph was too high for coco.
That could have resulted in my leaf issues as shown in the photos. It appears to be a potassium deficiency on both plants.
My last grows used a lot of topping to generate more bud sites (SCROG and Quadlining). I had forgotten how large colas can become when allowed to grow without diffusing energy by topping. (I only Topped twice). See Sunday photos for an idea of how the tops have developed. This plant was shorter than the other strain, so it was further away from the grow light. Seems like decent spacing between nodes….maybe a little more than ideal?
