Germination
Well I'm not having much success with Phoenix seeds. I've decided to start detailing seeds that fail to germinate, maybe I'll get sent some new seeds :) ?. Knowing my luck the two ungerminated seeds will burst into life next week and then I end up with a cramped grow room which I was desperately trying not to happen, but I guess I got too enthusiastic and greedy again lol. This time, well as per usual, have been messing with my soil mix. I wanted to try and make the soil around 6.5ph, so have add stuff like potash, iron sulphate, fish and bone meal, worm castings, bat mix, lava rock, and some seaweed for good measure. Oh yeah, put about 70mg of mycelium stuff :). Anyways, the ph level went back to 7. So gave up on that as was concerned I may be putting too many minerals in. Geez, I really should just leave it. The base potting mix is Plagron Batmix. I probably don't need to mess with it, but can't help myself.

I got this seed from Grizzly seeds, Auto CF-KYU was written on it. I got no idea what this stands for, neither do Grizzly seeds it seems. Anybody know?

Hi, I've been looking at the Grizzly website to see if I can work out what this is... I believe it may be a "CG", rather than a "CF". If that's the case, it could be Connoisseur Genetics? I still can't quite work out the "KYU", but I suspect that perhaps it isn't "KYU" after all... my best guess is some sort of auto-Kush from Connoisseur Genetics. I hope that helps!

Week 1 veg for Super Kush and is already showing signs of stress, probably from my experimental potting mix 😒. I've been trying to diagnose the issue and I think it's nutrient lockout, which is a bit worrying on the first week! Anyways, have add some cal-mag to the power roots solution and shall see what happens. I'm hoping it will sort itself out once it stretches its roots and becomes larger, but it is a hope. (I really should stop experimenting and thinking I know best! 😂. But where's the fun in that? Running one light at the mo at 30%. Once the 2nd unknown seed becomes established will turn on 2nd light. Not running the carbon extractor at the mo. There's no smell, and not sure if I really need to ventilate that much at this stage...?? Saves me some energy costs. I've gone for a tidier setup, smaller pots because the previous grows' root balls took up hardly any of the 30l pots. I've replanted my carnivores into one trough for easier handling and thought they could all share the same space, make a killer zone for insects 😁.

Super Kush is doing well. The new leaves are not showing signs of problems, so hoping the soil mix is better balanced now and no hot spots (I did go a touch crazy adding minerals and shit directly into the soil). The CF-KYU whatever it is, is a week behind the Super Kush, and gone a bit gangly, but sure it will sort itself out. I think I have diagnosed my issue, iron excess. My leaves are yellowish with brown spots, and I did add a tablespoon (approx 30mg) of Iron Sulphate to the soil mix. I think I shall irrigate with just ph water for a week and see if my trees sort themselves out. Either way, carry on and learn from my experience..

Trees have really recovered from irrigating with Ph'd water only this week. The brown spots have not appeared on new growth and are looking very healthy. I got massive leaves compared to previous grows, is this because of my "special" soil mix??? I'm tempted not to use any nutes for the time being and see how they do in my "special" soil mix. Weather is warming up, nighttime temperature not so low. This will probably be my last grow until end of summer as keeping my environment cool could be a problem with the predicted hot summer... Beach for me :) Thought I would bend over the Super Kush :)

Having another go at LST. Have pinned the branches as best I could. Fingers crossed. Have mostly been irrigating with Ph water but did give it some of the specified nutes mid week. Have noticed when I provide nutes the plant seems to suffer. I reckon my soil is packed with nutes and adding extra sends it over. Anyways, will keep nutes to a minimum until flowering, and then BOSH! Have some... :) My carny plants seem to like new trough as they are sprouting more jaws :). I did have a spider in the room which I thought might be a good thing, but decided nah, my buds might get covered in webs... Just wondering would a spider be stupid enough to walk into carny plant jaws??? Would quite like to see that... (except quite like spiders) :(

Trees are looking healthy. I couldn't help myself and gave my trees some nutrients, but mostly to stimulate root growth. Will be irrigating with PH water this week My attempts at LST is pretty diabolical. The wire does not hold in the soil so probably need to attach to the fabric pot.... Had another go after seeing Zurban_Poisonia's LST, and did some defoliated. Think I may have been too brutal! Can an Auto cope, or should I say can my Auto cope? Haha

Trying to make a better effort at LST. Have made holes in fabric pot and attached ties so can tie down branches more securely. Have been a bit more brutal manipulating and tying down the branches. Am disappointed in the size of the tree. I don't think the plants benefit from my soil mix of added minerals and stuff. I think the minerals take too long to break down for the plants to use, so better off using soluble nutrients. I think my soil mix might be better suited for non Autos as their growing time is longer. Have been defoliated a bit this week. Am removing flowers developing under the canopy, going to concentrate on larger flowers at the top of the canopy. My ph only irrigation went out of the window, used some nutrients as specified, and started using seaweed extract to try and boost the veg growth, but probably left that too late! Oh well, next time. My carnies are doing well, grown a new fly catcher :). Got a spider web developing around my carbon filter.... Hmmm. Can't see the spider. Wondering if the carnies are capable of catching a spider? That would be quite cool to watch.

Very disappointed in the size of my trees. The soil mix I did was not beneficial and feel it has hindered plant growth. I won't be experimenting with the soil again, for Autos anyways 😬. Have been reapplying LST through the week, and have been defoliating trying to get as much light across the trees as possible. Have removed most of the lower growth as I can't see the trees developing a lot of flowers so trying to get the best out of what I have. The Super Kush does seem to be improving and the flowers are engorging :). The other "unknown" is looking rather pathetic, but will stride on and keep giving nutes. Fingers crossed it is a late bloomer. It seems to want to grow into a bush, getting loads of leaves clumped together, and some claw like. I'm guessing the bushiness is genetics. I noticed the leaves have been a bit claw like. Not sure if this is over watering or calcium issue. I don't have brown spots on the leaves and have been supplying Cal-Mag, so probably over watering....? Hmmm, just drenched it... Doh

Flowers are fattening up, although the trees are pathetically small :( My unknown tree wants to be a bush. Have defoliated and then a day later, bush again, so just letting it do its thing. Fortunately the flowers are all up the top and none really covered by leaves, so guess nature knows best. The Super Kush is looking healthy and flowers looking bigger each day. I reckon it's a couple of weeks away from harvest, but will see at the end of the week. I was spraying with Vita Race but noticed the pistils looking brown, too early I thought, maybe affected by the spray? So haven't sprayed since and their seems to be less browning...

I've been cranking up the Alga Bloom and PK13/14 nutes. Flowers are fattening up nicely and trees don't look stressed at all. I think I'm nearing harvest, probably another week or two. Trying to get a good magnified picture of my little mushrooms but don't think it is up to the job...? And my hand is not steady enough.

I believe my Super Kush is near harvest, and will be flushing from next week with PH 6.5. The "Unknown" is further off, probably another 2 weeks. The trees are small, especially "Unknown", but they do smell sweet. I think I need to do a bit of defoliating with the "Unknown" as there are lots of small flowers under all that canopy but they ain't getting any light. I doubt I shall be reaping much from this tree :( .

I probably harvested too soon. There are undeveloped colas underneath, but I was running out of time. I reckon this "Unknown" would be a pretty dense bush if I hadn't messed with the soil mix. That has definitely stunted its growth.:(
