Chewyyyy This is my first grow ever. I have set up with a DR60 tent (60x60x170) which fits perfectly in a boxed out closet. Additionally, the room is not used so I can pull cool fresh Scottish air in and extract it through a wooden hatch located in the closet. I am using bio-bizz all mix soil and regular tap water. I germinated the seeds straight in the soil and kept the temps up at 26 with the pots covered with film. Looking forward to getting some bio-bizz grow nutrients to compliment the soil. It has been hard to be patient but I learn that the more patience and little touching you do, the better it will grow 🙂Day 5 - repotted the plants into larger pots to ensure plenty of grow space. also I have changed the light cycle to 18/6 (not only to save some electricity bills!)

Why are do my leaves seem to twist towards the end? this seems to mainly happen on the older leafs. Is this a serious problem?

Hi @Chewyyyy! Over-watering combined with heat usually make leaves look like this. Roots need to be on a wet/dry cycle to properly develop and spread for water. Too much water make the roots/plant suffocate. Now as a solution, let the soil dry (a slight continuous breeze onto the container will help), once it's fully dry then water with 15-20% of the container's capacity, and she should quickly recover. Never water with more than 25% of the container's capacity, or you'll risk an overwatering scenario again. And obviously decreasing your daily temperature will also help but it's not always possible. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Chewyyyy LST started this week. Have decided against topping or fimming the plant as it is my first grow and would rather focus on achieving a healthy grow rather than pure yield 🙂 nutes are starting today with BioBizz Grow to match the soil 😁

Chewyyyy W6 D1 - start of week 6 and I still have a healthy plant. Got the light on from 7:30pm to 7:30am so I can work on them before I go out for work and when I amo home 🙂 End of week 6 - everything going well. Just letting the budsites mature while maintaining good temps. watering second day, however at the end of the week i noticed the pots getting drier quicker so may need to up the watering.

Chewyyyy Plants looking healthy after 7 weeks. I have dropped the bio-grow nutrient as I felt the plant may be getting too much nitrogen and have upped the bloom and topmax. I have move the light higher to suit the plants, The only main issue I am having now is the lack of space in the tent. Due to the negative pressure in the tent, the side of the plant are being pulled in so I will need to find a way to box out the tent. I guess this is the slower part of the grow as I cannot work on the plants as before! Lets hope these buds fatten up soon! Sorry I have not been commenting - been very busy!

Chewyyyy Pretty uneventful weekend waiting on the buds to fatten! Patience is key!! -definitely would do some defoliation next time growing to give a cleaner less bushy look! - being a new grower I was going to take off some fan leaves but have decided that I am best to let the plant grow without me stressing them out!

Chewyyyy Another good week with no issues. Still keeping up the watering and checking for any issues. 22/10 - still no issues, buds fattening up nicely and watering every 2-3 days with at least one regular water a week followed by a nute mix. Starting to get excited as I noticed a few tricomes turning amber on the moremature plant 😁 23/10 & 24/10 - found some brown spotted leaves on the younger girl. I am going to pick up some Calmag and hopefully solve the problem. Will post results 👍🏻 25/10 - one fan stopped working so have replaced it, added a dehumidifier as the humidity was between 48-55%, and have added some CalMag to my nutrients at 1ml/l to the plant with the spots. I don’t think the leaves will recover but hopefully will stop the spread! Older plant doing well and just fattening up 🙂

Hi Guys, Can I defoliate being so far into the flowering stage? I would like to expose more bud sites but don't want to over-stress the plant! Thanks :)

Hello ! Not really a good idea , maybe later in flowering when the plants will focus on bud fattening but at that stage they needs foliage to thrive , maybe you can try to knit your leaves together to give the bud more light exposure or remove only the leaves that are blocking light to a bud. I hope it will help you 😁👍

Chewyyyy 28/10 - older plant doing well, with some more pistels turning Amber 🙂the younger plant is looking a bit sad with the leaves discoloring and brown spots, but am trying to limit this with calmag (1ml/l) the buds on the younger are fatter so just trying to hold out until Harvest. Thanks for all the tips and help so far! 29/10 - Same as above! 1/11 - Pistels starting to go amber on the healthy plant :D recon another few weeks and we are at harvest time! Unhealthy plant seems to be better after flushing all this week. The buds are fattening up nicely on both plants but I would say that for the next grow I will just focus on one single larger plant :)

Okay thats interesting, an excess in mg can make the soil crusty and can restrain oxygen level,, the opposite goes for calcium it can make your soil too loose. If the flush has made any difference I would suggest doing more of that. Hope it gets better.

You can buy these support beams that go across the tent do negative pressure won't lose you space. Or what I do is use my watering can to keep one side from pulling in too much.

@SlimJamie, thanks man. I am going to see if I have got some poles which I can make-shift into the beams.

Your buds look amazing my friend and I believe congratulations are in order. You put in the work and time over the last few months and it has given you some beautiful results. I wish you all the best in your next grow and I'm so happy for you that this grow has turned out as beautiful as it has. Cheers my friend and happy smoking!

Hey @Chewyyyy! I usually avoid any kind of pruning/defoliation after the 2nd week of flowering, because I want my plants to drive their energy into bud fattening and resin production, rather than recovery. But this isn't 100% true, sometimes it's better to defoliate if the leaf is really creating shade onto some potential big bud. To summup, do it intelligently and slightly, and you should see great results! Happy growing 👊

If you have an TDS or EC meter check what the value of your solution is before going in and whatever the value is of your run off. if the value barely change or is higher in the run off you might have some salt build up or nutrient lockout. Although it doesn't seem you over fed them and biobizz is organic which should limit that.. Trying to think of all posibilities.. If that is the case flush your medium thoroughly, throw away the runoff and keep flushing, measure again until you reach a lower ppm or EC. If you don't have such a meter, you can still give it a go as a last resort. Hope it helps

Nice grow dude ! Shame with those leaves... But the other are look splendid. What is your soil like, if you feel its consistency ? is it crusty on top ? very loose ? Has the cal-mag not made a difference ?
Chewyyyy
Chewyyyycommented7y ago
@GreenMunchkin, Thanks, yeah pretty gutted about the younger girl. No I would say the opposite, the soil is compacted which i tried to remediate by flushing fully through the soil. I have not noticed a difference with the calmag, however there doesn't seem to be as many spotted leaves so i guess that is a positive! I try to leave the plants for 3 days before watering again, but i do think the younger plant has a lot more water held in the soil as it is considerably heaver than the other pot.
