It was a bit rough start for these ones as you can see from the pictures. Started germinating these in the coldest time in the year, after some bug problems 4 out of 5 seeds made it. They were germinating slowly on my warmed, germination box about a month in 28c/70-80%rh. They have been in the bigger pots for about 2 weeks now and it´s starting to get crowded. Everyone has been topped twice now. It has now been about 1 month since I moved them in the tent, with a ppfd around 550. This will be the last week for them in the veg tent. What do you think about this light setup? IR/Deep Red https://www.horticultureledgrowlight.com/sale-14242021-redfarm-30w-osram-730nm-ir-660nm-red-infrared-grow-bar-for-cannabis-enhancement.html

Started 12-12 and moved the girls to bigger tent. They look healthy and strong DeepRed/IR goes 4/4/4 and 15min before and after the main lights. Added about 150gr of batshit to each pot. Next few weeks we will see enormous growth and will be adding the net. This a the first time testing this light setup for the entire flowering. Last batch only had them for about a month, and the result is promising. More, and bigger and better nuggets! 31.3 More defoliating, now the bottom should be clean. Haven´t seen any hairs yet, should see them in a few days. Plants did stretch A lot during the first week, especially the nodes.

10.4 Nodes have stretched enormously and the plant in hole. Buds are forming nicely. Did some more defoliation and cleaning.. New Exhale bag in the corner. Now that the air is getting warmer outside I'm struggling to find the sweet spot for temps. Removed the net, it wasn´t really doing anything, too many plants.. Had to do some HST to few branches 11.4 Put the net back, they were stretching too much. Reduced ir/fr to just 1 hour, to start and finish. Learned that they stretch way too much during early flower with them on 4-4-4 The temps were everywhere from 21-32c I located the temperature sensor from the ac, removed it and placed it inside the tent. Now the temps should stay in line, still battling with RH the get vpd in line. 12.4 Temps are stable now, next the humidity...

Flowering started a bit late due to high rh and low temps. Temps are fine now ,because I moved the sensor to tent, still struggling with the humidity. FR/IR is now 1/10/1 because it stretches the nodes too much. The AC is now pushing humidity to the tent to compensate heat, will have to figure out how to get the excess humidity out..

17.4 The stretching has stopped and buds are growing nicely and they look healthy. Bought a dehumidifier to control the humidity. It seems to be stable now, I did water them at the beginning of the day so that´s why it shoots up to around 70% but will lower to 60% within a couple of hours. 18.4 Buds are forming nicely and getting bigger. Still a bit struggle with the vpd 19.4 VPD is finally in line and the line is STEADY AF 20.4 I think I spotted a brown hair.. Added more calmag to the mix 21.4 The smell is awesome. Peachy and fruity 8)

Steady growth, buds are forming nicely and are now fattening. I can see a few burned leaves, but I'm not worried. A few calmag issues, will add 1.5 ml to the next mix.

This experiment was good. Girls did get very long during the first two weeks of flowering, but then the buds started growing and they did. Stash is now curing. Total dry weight was 317g from 4 plants

Very nice grow buddy. Just a lil tip. The purpose of them, is to increase your flowering time to 13hrs.30m 10.20 off 10m of far red after lights out. Other uses for Far Red. Is to create, "trick your plant into thinking its covered by shade", and promotes stretch, especially during pre flower your plant is going to stretch a lot. Hap to a few of my grows before I fully understood it. You can use it during veg and later stages of flo but, not with lights on during pre flower pal. Have a read of this. https://www.growlightsource.com/flower-initiator-far-red-phyto-dep-faster-flowers/ Increase your flowering time to 13.5 hrs for pre flower. You can push tat to 14hrs for fattening and when it gets to ripening, switch it back to a 12-12. But still using the IR to change from pfr to pr. "Photochrome", (the time it takes a plant to sleep is normally 2hrs the far reds put them to sleep in 5 mins, tis y you have an extra 1.5-2hrs flowering. Increase your DLI by a lot. And your flip time, (you know how some fems can take 2wks to show pistils, this speeds up the time she's in limbo waiting for pre flower by at least 50% Can I ask. Whats your purpose of using far reds? Any tips??

@Yebis42,BTW. I see they took a big stretch. Very interesting though. You do learn either way. Az its a tool now if you've really tight inters or wanna control canopy. You just gotta dose the plants that need IR with it. Wow, that's great buddy. 1000ppfd is the sweet spot in any grow. Hopefully I'll have my own FC4800 by next wk. Just waiting to hear from my Rep at mars about my upgrade. Will be using it in my 3x3 for flowering with co2 kit. I got some big ass girls when I used Far Red during Pre Flower. They dom indicas and flipped at 30-40 cm and they all hit nearly 90cm when pre was over. Lol.. really leggy. Ah don't mind that GM bollox. Means jack pal. Just for sponsors. I'm still learning every grow I try and do new things/methods and so far, they've worked out well. Maybe not all the time productive wise, but, in the end. I still gain something I hadn't before. A deeper insight into growing. So I'm all for Expermi more power to you

@gottagrowsometime, Thanks Growmie! Really appreciate the advice! I really haven´t seen so much of ir/deepRed experiments and I really want to learn more about them, because as you said I also did see the growth when I first put them on. The nodes really grew long the first two weeks until I changed the timing, at the end I just run them full 12hrs. But as YOU are a Grandmaster I will switch the lightning to 13 with 15min off and on before mainlights bc I use mechanic switches.. I Like to TryThings.. 8) The purpose of the Brookes was to increase ppfd in the corners cos the hydro didn´t really do it, but now I'm getting around 1000 per corner, in the middle it´s around 2000 but i´m trying to get the MAIN buds towards it. The purpose of the far reds is exactly as you adviced. As I said the last batch had them for 1 month and I did see an increase in bud density and quality. For tips at this point.......... I think the timing is the KEY to this. Will have to figure it out. Really appreciate the comment, will keep you up to date. And just keep on experimenting!

Looking good my dude! How was the stretch on the runts layer cake?
Yebis42
Yebis42commented2 years ago
@603grower, about 10cm per node. 60-70cm total
the end.
