Looking great, 2 of them streched a lot (started flowering lately) I raised the light to compensate for new growth. Removed a lot of large fan leaves, to expose more bud sites.

Grow Questions

My plants started flowering (they are autoflower). How long does flowering take? They seem too small? (16l pots) 80x80cm space - for size reference. As you see i did a lot of LST, so they created a lot of branches, do i have ti tie them down more, or should i leave them?

Hello @Bronhitis ! Usually they flower for about 6-8 weeks but it really depends on the strain and yes they are a bit small but they are very healthy. They are small not because of the training and i really don't understand why people say such things. This is usually happening from bad watering (i have worked at so many gardens and seen so many tiny yet healthy autoflowers ). If they were developed at their full potential you woudn't be able to fit 4 plants at 80x80 cm tent. Anyway now it is what it is. I would now stop training them in order to create some nice colas. Happy growing ! πŸ‘Š

What is your opinion so far? Should i change anything? Based on photos, how far away is harvest for the first plant (bottom left - biggest flowers)? Will buds fatten more, or will they remain hairy?

Hello ! Based on your photo , they are coming along nicely , your bud are still in a early stage so I would not be affraid about fattening , they are nice and will get more volume soon. Still based on the photo it's hard to tell you when they will be ready but you can wait for 4 more weeks at least, northern light are good buds producer so I'll wait for big buds to shows up. According to your yellow lower leaves your plants have a slight nitrogene deficiency but at that stage it's not really an issue because at that stage plants mostly needs PK and will use the stocked N by making lower leaves yellowing and fall. If you go 4 more weeks then the next(s) feeding will provide enough nutrient to let her make fat buds. The better way to know if your plants are ready is to get a magnifier and look at the trichomes ratio to make an harvest based on the kind of effect you want ( high = clear and milky trichs , stone = milky and amber trichs). I hope it will help you πŸ˜πŸ‘

Should i be worried about foxtailing? I see more and more pistils to appear, also they produce new sugar leaves. I raised the light 20cm higher.

Never said anything about bud explosion with molasses, they just love it and it feeds them, and the buds should taste very nice... happy growing

On average flowering for autos seems to average around 6-8 weeks depending on the strain. I know that doesn't match up with what most breeders advertise, especially after adding 4-6 weeks in veg. But that's how long they typically take for me. Hope this helps. Good luck! πŸ‘

Looking healthy :) You managed to give the plants a nice shape. If you did no LST the vertical growth of the main cola would probably make the plant 45-60 cm. I did a similar grow with 4 autoflowers in a similar space. In retrospect, mine grew way too tall, probably because of crowding (it causes competition between plants to get more light) and my lamp being too high. I also did not train much/properly at all. In weeks 5 to ~7 my plants gained 50 centimeters! May I ask why you are using 12/12 from seed? Most people report that 18/6 or 20/4 creates tighter internodes as the plants stretch for light at night. Having a 120cm plant is cool, but when they get so tall the internodes are so stretched out that you don't get nice bud clusters. In my week 13 photo you can see how much space is wasted, and how much energy, to build all those long stems. I disagree about any bad watering practices. Signs of bad watering (i.e. drought, overwatering, etc) would definitely be visible in the leaves in my opinion.

@Bronhitis,looks alwayson the soil. I think they can handle 0,4 liter........but let the soil dry inbetween

@Mrs_Larimar, Thank you! Nothing special, growth has stopped (i think) and buds started to form. Do you think i should increase watering now? Or do plants in flowering need less water?

Thanks! I have them on 14/10 all the time, so the exact date of flowering would be dificult to determine. But they are definately flowering now. Will see how they will perform πŸ˜‰

why have you got your autos on 14/10 light cycle??
autopower
autopowercommented6 years ago
fair enough mate. never seen anywhere though where it reckons anything under 18/6 really for autos because the more light they get = more growth basically? but I get the cost thing and stuff
Mrs_Larimar
Mrs_Larimarcommented6 years ago
@Bronhitis, 14/10 is enough, but 18/6 is the optimum.... but if you want to save energy/cost i can really understand that....

Hey great photos today! I'd say you could probably fatten her up for another week at least. Mine are about ripe now and have 10% amber trichomes. From what I'm told that's about the sweet spot. Looking really nice and healthy man keep looking after them.

Hi @Bronhitis! Healthy leaves, loads of bud-sites, beautiful foliage coloration, you're doing great! Buds will fatten up during their 2 last weeks, most of the hairs/pistils will turn red/brown and start to curl. I think you still have 2 to 4 weeks to go, so I would recommend to give her at least 1 other meal with P+K, then prepare for the flush (10~12 days). Take a daily closeup look at the trichomes, and start to flush when at least half of the trichomes have turned from transparent/thin to milky/fat. Stop the flush when most of the trichomes are milky, and a few amber ones have appeared. Then enjoy your harvest 😎 Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing πŸ‘Š

Hi @Bronhitis! Well, autoflowering strains just don't like hardcore training, like bending the way you did. It would have been great with regular strains, but it will slow down the growth for autos and you'll loose some hypothetical yield. Now about your schedule, breeder says 10 weeks from seed to harvest, but as always this is in a perfect environment without any specific surgery such as topping/bending.. Your plants had to recover every time you cut a part or bent a stem, so I think you will have to push to week 12 or 13 to get your buds ready. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing πŸ‘Š
Bronhitis
Bronhitiscommented6 years ago
@Stick, Just visited the breeders site, and saw that it takes 10 weeks in total. I didn't do any topping, and the plants responded to LST pretty good i think, because 2 hours after bending they were allready in upright position. On 3 plants i did light LST, bot on theone i did it harder, and it is the biggest now :D
