Today I started exposing all the seedlings to direct sunlight, I just have to be careful with overheating the pot and the substrate moisture. During the night, I keep the seedlings under the Vipar P1000 lamp at 20% power (20w) and about 6-7cm away from the tips. Since this week I start exposing the seedlings to the sun, I will also increase the power and proximity of the lamp. Since the initial watering, I have only watered with pure mountain water. Starting with the next watering, I will begin to feed the seedlings; for the more advanced ones, the ones that already have true leaves, I will start with varied foliar applications. Fourth week of life for this post-apocalyptic strain, the stem has started to become woody, the leaves are firming up, and the compactness is very good; the proximity of the light and direct exposure to sunlight help. This week I started fertilizing the seedlings, and it was immediately noticeable. A mix of natural honey (sugars, enzymes...), fresh blood hydrolysate (amino acids), Bio Mix EM is a blend of residues from other bio-fermented products for vegetative growth (Bio Fish (N, Ca, P...), Bio Coco (hormones and minerals), Bio Blood (amino acids), Bio Mealfrass (N, P, Mg) and a bit of Ormus from the Cantabrian Sea to raise the pH and provide minerals (Mg, S...). I did a deep watering and several foliar applications; the plants reacted immediately, the shoots went into a praise position, and all the seedlings have shown evident growth... let’s play! Since these first weeks of the seedlings' life are easy to handle due to the small pots and cheap to maintain because they need few watts to grow, I will wait one more week to transplant to the final pot. This way, I also ensure a good root system that will explode in the big pot. Fifth week of life for this post-apocalyptic strain, I transplanted it four days ago into a 10L textile pot with a stone base, and the plant is already looking happy, spreading its leaves and thickening its stem. For the potting mix, I made a base with 25% recycled substrate from two seasons ago, which I've had in a bag these past months to lose all moisture. Additionally, I used coconut fiber, a mix of two light substrates, bokashi made from seaweed, worm humus, perlite, and vermiculite, and finally added a wide variety of minerals: Leonardite, zeolite, azomite, Epsom salt, diatomaceous earth, illite, montmorillonite, kaolin, basalt, rock phosphate, wood ash, pumice, and several types of clay. Once well mixed and the seedling placed, I added a good layer of mulch rescued from other crops with great microbiological activity and organic matter. Then, I did a watering with 1400ml; the mix includes a Bio Fertilizer that I'm trying out this season, which I've had in anaerobic fermentation since June of last year. It's a Bio Ferment with Activated Mountain Microorganisms (MMA), fermented grass, and Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) to which I added water from 4 green coconuts. I called it Bio Coco EM. With this bio-stimulant for crops and for the vegetative growth stage, I tried to capture the hormones (cytokinins), enzymes, and vitamins from coconut water, as well as the multitude of minerals it contains. The water from a coconut has enough energy and minerals to germinate a coconut seed. Starting today, I've reduced the light hours from 24h to 20h because the plants also need rest. I've also turned on the other two lamps in the canopy to cover the entire area of the plants. I keep the lamps very close to the plants, which allows me to maintain the power of the lamps at 20%. When I transplant the other 4 plants I plan to grow in this tent, I'll have to move the lamps away and increase the power in return... all for big buds! Until next time... Sixth week of life for this post-apocalyptic strain, the plant is settling into its pot and growing wildly. Five days ago, I made an apical cut and started tying down the branches to control the height and begin shaping the plant. Due to its wild nature, it resists being bent, so I adjust the ties daily. Water consumption is increasing, the leaves are expanding, and the stem and branches are strengthening every day. This week, I have a very special nutrition plan in mind for this stage of growth, but I’m not sure if the growth is going to go out of control. I’ve added rice husk to the mulch, a dry organic matter with a lot of silicon. It’s the first time I’m using it as mulch; I usually use it as a component of bokashi. Plus, its light color is great for reflecting sunlight and preventing overheating at the top of the substrate. I’m curious to observe the decomposition process; I hope the microorganisms really like it! I’ve increased the intensity of all the lamps, now consuming 155w plus 20w for fans/extractors. If I see this week that the plants go wild, I’m going to crank up the power on the lamps to try to compact them with light as much as possible. Seventh week of life for this post-apocalyptic strain, the pot establishment is secured, the plant's vigor is impressive, it's growing with good compactness, the branches are thickening and the leaves are expanding asking for more energy, and I'm giving it all, it's under a lamp, very close to the lights and at maximum power, and if it wants more light, I'm going to give it to it! I'm still adjusting ties in order to shape the plant and slow down vertical growth. Last week I talked about the special waterings I wanted to give this week, and that's how it has been, the photos show the result, and I plan to continue this week which will probably be the last in vegetative growth, although I'm actually waiting for other plants in my grow tent to strengthen before switching them all to flowering at once. Water consumption has been increasing, this week two deep and radical waterings with multi-nutrients, some like my new formula that I've debuted with this plant of Humato Blood MgSiPK, a potassium hydrosol from leonardite with Si, Mg, P, and amino acids, where I've also managed to solubilize fulvic acids, thus forming a nutritious mix for maximum level vegetative growth. Today I decided to measure the substrate temperature and it gives me 24°C at 10cm depth, practically the same as the ambient temperature with the lights on, today when I turn off the lights I will wait a couple of hours and take the temperature measurement at night to see the difference and if the substrate cools down as quickly as the ambient temperature. Six days ago I did the first watering of the week, with a varied mix of Bio nutrients, quite concentrated EC: 2.00, on this occasion I'm still applying Bio Coco EM, to give energy and provide micro nutrients 1% of my Lacto fermented seaweed, I add Microbiology to the substrate and a high range of trace micronutrients and minerals with my Activated Mountain Microorganisms fermented with fruits and minerals, another 1% of Ormus from the Cantabrian Sea Mg, S... and traces of more than 40 minerals, I needed a bit of my Sheep Wool Hydrosol to raise the pH of this mix and finally a component that I only use once throughout the grow and only at this stage, it's gibberellic acid which is a growth phyto-regulator with hormonal action that stimulates and regulates plant development and together with cytokinins, plant hormones that regulate various aspects of plant growth and development, such as cell division or photosynthesis, I capture these hormones from coconut water and complete this mix... the plants love it! I want to pair some plants to make different watering mixes for each pair and compare results, for now, I'm thinking of doing it based on each plant's water consumption to match the watering time for the plants that form the pair, for now, this grow is paired with my other grow 3M ◣ Mexican Girl, in watering mixes, substrate, pot type, and lifespan... all for the cause! Now this strain enters the big game, during the night artificial light, during the day capturing rays of sun, if the day is cloudy, like last week, they stay in the grow tent. Eighth week of life for this post-apocalyptic strain, water consumption has skyrocketed, it asks for watering every two days. I'm going to increase the watering volume to do it every three days, which is the ideal measure for complete absorption of the Nitrogen and Potassium I provide with soluble bio-fertilizers. I've added chopped green leaves from the defoliations to the mulch, fresh salad for the microbiology. I continue to adjust the plant ties, although I can't do much more, the branches are too strong to bend further, but still, the plant shows a canopy of more than 15 colas. If I fatten them all up, I'll have a good yield. Starting today, this plant goes directly to flowering schedule 12/12h. The cloudy days continue, the plants barely come out of the grow tent. This week I reduced the light time by half an hour and have been at 18h 30', I added a 50w LED panel to the light canopy (2700K +660nm) and now I have 4 lamps plugged in at maximum power (370w). Since I keep the lamps as close as possible to the tips to compact the plants, it turns out that the light on the sides of the lamps doesn't reach sufficiently. So this season, due to having too many plants in my grow tent, I'm going to play with putting a powerful canopy instead of lighting from the sides. I have two COBs with lenses waiting to be placed in the canopy, this way I can maintain a short distance with the tips and light from above all sides of the tent. Additionally, I have two bars in two corners, placed vertically (50cm) with 2100K +IR LEDs that I will connect when flowering begins and the plants grow a bit more. I'm also waiting to receive an extra space bar kit for my grow tent, with this I'm going to recover up to 20% of the horizontal space that the tent loses due to the negative pressure from the air extractors... all for the cause! It's the first week since switching to flowering schedule for this post-apocalyptic strain. Since the change to 12/12h, the plant has slowed its metabolism and will consume less water until it starts pre-flowering, after which it will constantly demand water and nutrients. So far, the plant's stretch this week is reasonable; I'm trying to limit vertical stretching by using high light intensity. My ideal height for these grows is between 70-80cm at most. Once it stops stretching, I'll turn on two side LED bars to complete the lighting setup in my grow tent. In addition to two deep waterings with various components, mostly bio-stimulants, this week I've made two significant changes in the grow tent. The first was completing the light canopy; I've added two COB lamps with lenses, so now I have 6 lamps in the canopy with a total of 475w. This way, I can keep the lamps very close to the tops without losing brightness on the sides. As usual, growing with high light intensity makes the plants grow with short internodes, which also slows down vertical growth. The second change was the installation of an extra spacer bar kit that has given me a lot of space on the sides of the tent by preventing the fabric from bulging due to the negative pressure from the exhaust fans... The plant keeps stretching, it's the tallest in the tent, water consumption is brutal, forcing me to water every two days. I've increased the substrate humidity to get it to every three days. I'm grateful for the columnar structure of this sativa, as it leaves me space in the tent for wider plants. However, I'm going to try to fill the thick branches with monstrous buds. So far, this strain has shown spectacular vigor, as well as great strength. The foliar over-fertilization I subjected my crops to days ago affected some plants, but this one has remained unaffected. For now, until it stops stretching, I'm giving it light waterings with varied components. Once the vertical growth stops, I'll start fattening it up... In the last watering, I introduced two Bio Fertilizers that I've had fermenting anaerobically for a year: Bio Algas EM: I solubilize three types of algae with Effective Microorganisms (EM) and enzymes, I use it when I need to stimulate the crops. Bio Guanos EM: I solubilize two types of guanos (bird and bat), I'm mainly interested in phosphorus, but at the same time this exceptional raw material provides me with macro and micronutrients, minerals, or humic acids. The flowering has begun fiercely, floral buds are popping up all over the sturdy branches, these will be able to support the biggest buds... let the flower party begin. The plant continues to be the tallest, stretching 9cm this week, I hope it stops soon. Two days ago, I did a major defoliation on all the plants, for this one it feels a bit forced, as I don’t like to defoliate when the plants are already in flowering, but I think it will handle it well given the vigor it shows. Overall, I’m not a fan of this technique, but I’m forced by the need for space and I want maximum light penetration through the canopy, since this season I’m barely going to add side light. Harvest day after eleven weeks of flowering, after a final ritual watering with pure mountain water I did four days ago and the two days I've had the plant exposed to the sun during the day and in the tent at night, today is the day of the plunder. As I was removing leaves, I discovered the full magnitude of the main colas; they are monstrous, hard, and sticky. A great harvest that I will try in a few weeks and share the experience.
