Day [-1]:
The seeds spent about 16 hours in a 100 ml glass of water (19 C) with 2 ml of hydrogen peroxide (3%). Both of them cracked, one fell on the bottom. Planted them in soil/perlite mix.
Runoff before planting: 590/600 ppm, pH 5.9/6.0
______________
Day 1:
Both seeds sprouted within 2 days after planting.
Temp 20-22 C, RH 65-77%. VPD 0.5 - 0.9 kPa.
______________
Day 3:
Finally found suitable racks to raise the pots. They were needed to collect runoff easily. Will put containers underneath. Runoff will go through the hole in the plate right into the container. This time I will use X1 pump to water plants very slowly. Gonna use the dripping hose in rotation manually. First watering one plant, then another.
______________
Day 6:
The seedling no. 1 which is on the left, has discolouration on the first true leaves tips. I don’t think that’s nutrients or pH related. Both seeds are progressing with the same pace. Next week will be the first watering with Voodoo Juice, Fulvic, and Roots Booster.
VPD is around 1.1 kPa in the day, 0.6 at night.
______________
Day 7:
It seems to be a slow start for both of them, will try to figure it out.
Day 8:
Soil is still moist. No watering yet.
________
Day 9:
First true leaves are looking not good. Will wait for the second pair and decide if it’s worth to go further with these two seedlings. Still waiting when the soil dries up a little bit to start watering with Voodoo Juice and Root Booster.
________
Day 10:
Reduced DLI to 9,5 by advice of my friend. Will see how it goes in few days.
________
Day 11:
Added oscillating fan to dry up soil faster. Also raised lamps, and increased power to keep the same DLI (10). That should increase VPD. Pretty sure the slow start was caused by overwatering and very low rate of evaporation in combination with VPD <0.9 kPa. Algae on surface. It’s still too early for watering. Looking forward to start treating seedlings with Voodoo Juice and Roots Booster. Will also add a layer of perlite. That should help with excessive moisture in soil. Worked well in previous grows.
________
Day 12:
I’m not happy with the speed of these two seedlings, but I will fight for them. B-52 foliage spaying tomorrow.
________
Day 13:
Foliar sprayed with 0.5 ml/l B-52. Watered both with 0.5L of solution with Voodoo Juice (2 ml/l) and B-52 (1 ml/l). First side shoots are coming out. They are getting better.
Analysed the situation. I was using bad tap water (220 ppm) when making final flush of soil mix. Didn’t bother to check ppm again. Probably last 2 litres of such water caused all problems. Normally, my tap water is 40 ppm and it’s fluctuating after rains. I’ve no idea which salts got there. Also, extreme humidity didn’t allow the substrate to dry out at usual rate and I had to wait for so long to begin treatment. Thank god the seedlings didn’t die from my poor mistakes. Will think twice next time.
________
Day 14:
Seedling on the left (#1) has a beautiful second pair of true leaves! Seedling #2 looking not that good, but I hope she’ll get better soon.
Day 15:
Sprayed leaves with 0.5 ml/l CalMag solution pH 6.6. Raised DLI from 10 to 12.
________
Day 18:
Lowered lamps, increased DLI to 15. The first watering with nutes soon.
________
Day 19:
Watering 2.5L/3L. 600 ppm, pH 6.5.
Runoff: 350/700 ml. 930/1000 ppm, pH 6.2/6.3. Next watering will use the same ppm, but increase runoff to 50%.
Day 29:
Watered 3L per each plant.
Inflow: 460 ppm, pH 6.2
Runoff: 650/655 ppm, pH 6.5/6.5, 1/1.7L
________
Day 30:
Signs of light stress, while I give them only 20 DLI. Reduced to 18 DLI.
_______
Day31:
Started using portable AC to dry the air. It’s working great, but doesn’t lower the temp, because the exhaust pipe isn’t directly connected with the vent. Split system AC coming soon anyways.
_______
Day 32:
Started LST and defoliation. Yellow tips are still developing on the tops under the lamps. Could be even Phosphorus excess. I don’t believe they can be stressed from 20 DLI. Two TS1000 are dimmed via Daisy Chain at less than 50%. Distance from lamps to tops about 50 cm. Connected another exhaust pipe with 125 mm fan to extract air from tent. Humidity inside dropped even more, reaching 55% at the lowest point. VPD raised till 1.2-1.4.
_______
Day 33:
Split system AC arrived and installed. Temperature inside the tent dropped from 26 to 23 degrees. Humidity 55-60 %, VPD 1.0-1.4.
_______
Day 34:
Drip watering installed.
Heavy defoliation and LST.
Watered 3L each plant. 600 ppm, pH 6.0. No more water prepared. No runoff.
_______
Day 35:
Additional watering till runoff. 2L/2.5L 410 ppm, pH 5.9. Runoff 460/360 ppm, pH 7.0/6.9, 650/500 ml. Plant on the left looks sad. Almost all tops have lime/yellow tips on young leaves and they are twisted. Probably that’s the result of too high humidity, low VPD, and strong feeding during previous weeks. Luckily she’s not stunted. The growth continues. This time I added only half strength nutes. Next time gonna raise it to avoid starving in the beginning of flowering.
@Fast_Buds, thank you! I will try my best to keep this diary up to date. Looking forward to see what is Big Bud :) Have heard a very positive feedback about this strain from my friend.
