Another grow, this time planning on taking advantage of the summer sun. Starting tree in tent and shall be moving outside in 2 weeks and just letting it do its thing. :). Looking forward to smoking this as I have always like Oranges... :)
I put bag over it to increase humidity and placed inside the tent, but think it probably got scorched by the lights and the baby leaves have rotted off. Think it's a goner, but going to give it a chance to recover on the window sill.
Well first seedling died :( , but sowed a new seed, which is doing much better :) . I shall be putting this outside this week and hoping for the best as I won't be around to tend to it for a while. I hope it rains a bit....
I've had this tree outside for the past 4 weeks hoping for another heatwave like previous year, but not this time! :( I haven't been around so it's been open to the elements and hydrated when my housemate chooses. The tree was not as big as I had hoped and have since moved it back into the tent. Unfortunately I have noticed some eggs hanging beneath the leaves and a couple of creepy crawlies lurking in the foliage. I've been too quick to react without reading up about shit, and so have sprayed the tree with neem oil. I have since read this is a definite "no, no" during flower as the neem oil affects the taste.
Hmmm... Bollox. I've also read some growers have disposed of their neem oiled grows because the taste is so awful. Am gutted as was looking forward to sucking on oranges.
Put my tree back in the tent. It has been outdoors from week 2 until week 8. It hasn't grown as well as I had hoped, but the weather has not been as hot as expected. It hasn't been fed much nutrients either, but plan to change that and hopefully will start to fatten up.
Have learnt bringing trees indoors once they have been outside is not a good idea! My tree has some inhabitants, I'm not too sure what they are, but I went on the offensive and sprayed the whole tree with a neem oil mix. I have since learnt this is not a good idea once flowering has started. :(. I've done more research and learnt about Diatomaceous Earth, a natural pesticide that doesn't affect the plant or taste... So I've taken my tree to the shower and given her a rinse down, tried to remove any neem oil deposits and creepy crawlies. Put her back into the tent, waited until she had dried off and then sprayed her with Diatomaceous Earth and the soil she sits in. I hope she isn't affected by the spray as I gave her a good coating... Looks like a xmas tree... Hmmmm, am beginning to think I've over done it again.... Will probably find myself rinsing her down in the shower again...
Soooo, I just read a thread in the q&a on this website, and nonick123 says Diatomaceous Earth should not be sprayed on the buds otherwise I'll be smoking silicone!!!! Shiiiit, so I've gone and doused the tree in water solution! Lol. I'm probably going to get bud rot now! Well, still another 4 hrs until lights go off and it's 27C in there so I hope she dries before sleep time...?!? Tomorrow I shall just place Diatomaceous Earth on top of the soil and leave it as that.
Geeeez, I really should slow down and not be so eager!
