These strains stay fairly small and are all CBD Autos. Only the Critical CBD has potential for any noticable amount of thc. They will all probably be used for oil. We will see. Might try some to sample flavor. Just doing some strain variety/hunting for something new to add in to the keeper collection. The goal is to do only light defoliation. Little to no LST. Just SeaOfGreen it. Not looking for yield just potential future grow keeper strains that I can chuck in with a photoperiod run while doing long vegging.
In initial 9-net pot tote I noticed some discoloration in one of them (Solomatic). Tested PH and it had plunged to 5.0. That was after 1 1/2 weeks of 9 plants in one res. Not too bad.
I also accidentally dropped one into a res during first change to the 9 net pot tote. Completely dunked it. 😵 Made a mess trying to get it out as quickly as possible and dry it off before it absorbed too much and started to burn. It is the one in the bottom right next to the humidifier. Seems to be doing ok. 😅
Split them up into 3 10gallon totes. About 8 gallons of water in each. Trying to keep the water just under the Coco pots inside the net pots. They are in net pots for added support. They are in coco coir nursery pots inside net pots and not my usual rockwool/hydroton clay pebbles because I started them out DrainToWaste. Then just let them sit in an inch of nutes and top up every 3 days. Finally decided to go DeepWaterCulture for ease. I actually prefer this because when I take them out to move them or do a res change, clay pebbles don't go all over the place! I cut out the middle of the net pots so the roots can actually grow through with ease. Growing from seeds, so I want to give the main taproot enough space to grow. I am not trying to grow the biggest.
Set lights to ~380 ppfd. Just using Photone app. Don't think it registers the IR/UV supplemental bars (2) that I have. Sticking with 2 HIGROW 36Watt Blue spectrum bulbs and 1 Red/Deep red spectrum. Not sure the effect veg spectrum has on an Auto if any at all. I will either swap those to 2 red/1 blue during flower or go all red. Not sure yet. Most of the light is just the bar style SpiderFarmer light. First time using it. Use to use 2 Sayhon lights that had a supplemental uv/blue/ir built into them. They made incredibly frosty buds (was growing some chemdog x C99 though so that might explain it). Made the tent too hot 87+. If the humidifier ran out, it would go over 90. The par wasn't what this light can do and no where near as even. Light barely fits in a 2x4. Even the very corners get exact same par as middle of tent. Will help with SoG for sure!
PH'd to 5.6 because I know they will rise to just under 6 in a day or 2.
Will cut out SuperThrive in next reservoir change in a week or 2. Just trying it out to see if it helps with root development in DWC. I'm used to growing DTW Coco.
Silica will get reduced too. I would reduce 2nd week flower in a photo, but these are short flower autos, so I will cut it to 1/2 strength or probably 1/4 by next res change.
MaxiGro and MaxiBloom are 1-2tsp/gallon. 8-16 total for each ~8gallon res. (haven't actually measured. Might do that next res change). I did 6 of Gro and 4 of Bloom. 10 tsp/Gal total. Growing multiple strains, not sure which will be hungry and which wont. I will do some swapping around as I go if I need to so the heavy feeders are in one tote and light in another and will vary nute strength as needed. For now, went heavier than I usually do with DWC, but I'm used to photos, not autos. I assume they are hungrier because they are faster growing. We will see...
I have them somewhat grouped by strain and size.
