Hello growmies! Welcome to week six of An Epsilon Adventure! Massive thanks to both Shogun and Royal Queen Seeds for sponsoring this grow!
So here we are at week six and every one of these girls are at a slightly different stage, it is quite fascinating to watch them develop one after the other.
Today I made the last adjustment to the light possible. I removed the adjustable hangers and affixed a carabiner which I tightly tied to the top of the tent bar. There is about 1.5 inches of space between the top of the shade and the tallest part of the roof of the tent. Plant 1 is already taller than this, and it looks like plant 6 and maybe even plant 5 are going to join it. It's a madness. I am sure you have already looked at the photos but just in case you do what I do and read the diary first...
Here is my assessment at the beginning of week 6:
Plant 1:
Height: 1st (137cm) - what can I say about this ridiculous plant? Day 36... 137cm tall. I have had to raise the light to as high as it is physically possibly to raise it and it's still not high enough. She is done stretching now, she may add 3-5cm over the next week or so but I don't expect more than that, so her top of her main cola going to have to develop above the level of the light. Nothing I can really do, nothing wise anyway. What a monster plant.
Maturation: 4th - early into flower - bud sites developing, pistils just starting to explode.
Plant 2:
Height: 4th (111cm) - this plant has been there or there abouts as the tallest plant for most of the grow, but she has topped out at 111cm. She will gain some during flower but not much more than a few centimetres. Very impressive plant, loads of bud sites, really big strong secondary branches. This one is going to be colas galore.
Maturation: 3rd - well into flower - all white pistils
Plant 3:
Height: 6th (95cm) For some brief days the tallest plant in the room, she peaked early and is now the "shortest" at "only" 95cm for this "50-70cm" strain. She is utterly dwarfed by four of her five sisters in just about every department, being quite a bit smaller even than plant 4 (although I have removed the most lower nodes from this plant). Compared with her sisters she is almost a runt... except that she is 25cm taller than the strain top-end average and matches the maximal height of the previous tallest Epsilon F1 plant I am aware of. It's not that she is small, actually she's pretty big for an Epsilon F1, it's just that the rest of the girls are on another level altogether. Plants 1, 5 and 6 are all absolute beasts.
Maturation: 1st - well into flower - first shades of brown in some pistils.
Plant 4:
Height: 5th (98cm) although only 3cm taller than plant 3, overall she is a much larger plant. Her secondary nodes are the same height as plant 3.
Maturation: 2nd - well into flower - all white pistils
Plant 5:
Height: 3rd (113cm) - one of the two thick/short girls who have grown at a similar pace all along - she is further ahead than plant 6 but not by much and I think she will probably exceed 120cm this week, though I do not think she will outgrow plant 1 or 6.
Maturation: 5th - early into flower - bud sites developing.
Plant 6:
Height: 2nd (120cm) - my predictions were correct about this girl and her continued growth. I now think she might actually outgrow plant 1, which is quite worrying.
Maturation: 6th - early into flower - bud sites forming - by far the least mature plant of the six.
###
Week 6 Day 2 23:00 30/7
Photographed. Raised the light. Rotated the plants. Inspected, measured and reported on each plant.
###
Week 6 Day 3 23:00 31/7
It has not escaped my attention that the plants that are more advanced into flower have darkened and have some burnt tips. I need to flush them and lay off the base nutes a bit. These plants are just growing and maturing so quickly that I cannot keep up.
###
Week 6 Day 5 02:30 2/8
Fertigated 3l of nutrient mix, without either COCO A or B.

@NeoCat, regarding the buds filling out! Me too!!! They did last time and how! They are probably the most dense auto-flowering buds I have grown yet, so I am expecting big things here!
@NeoCat, 😆 all of the plants further into flower have darker leaves. I think I need to back off with the nutes now. Actually I think they nees a flush.
@Red_Rockst4r, Yes sir! Thanks you! I am really putting some serious effort into this diary. I am going to enter into August Diary of the Month! I want it to be my best grow and best diary so far!
I have 5 short videos for this week but the GD website is getting worse and worse, and I have just given up trying to upload them. If you wanna see vids go to my twitter or insta. Same username.
@UnorthadoxDude, "colas" es una forma coloquial de decir en español "grandes cogollos"
Yo escribo en español, y a veces el traductor de Growdiaries hace cosas raras 🤣
@MedicineMaker, I will, I think plant 2 is coming down this weekend. I haven't checked trichs for a couple of days, but the smell has changed so I am expecting progress.
@UnorthadoxDude, Sounding really promising, I'm excited for you! Glad to hear you have the temps and humidity under control. I had about the same as you on my last grow towards the end, I'm being patient and waiting 4 weeks of cure before I test. Best of luck and keep me updated! 👊
@MedicineMaker, the fade started on what's left of plant 2 a couple of days ago. I am checking trichomes daily with the loupe, but as yet 0% amber. Almost entirely milky/cloudy at the mo. The remaining buds are starting to look really good, but still bulking. I have given up on stealth and am basically running it with the tent door always open and fans blowing in.
I leave the dehumidifer on 24/7 and in the tent (closed door when lights out). 18/6 they are on now.
Average RH right now is about 45. Temp 28c If I forget to open the tent and blow air in, well the temps hit 35c+.
All Epsilon plants are now getting the "flush" product Dragon Force.
Hi, thanks for the kind comments you left a while ago on my Epsilon grow. It looks like there's definitely something in the genetics which makes them stretch under certain circumstances, fertigation maybe?
My Epsilon looked very like your plant 3, it's a pity she had to be cut down due to the bud rot.
The only thing I would change about my Epsilon grow would have been to not start flushing so soon and to have allowed another couple of weeks at least before cutting. With the curing now done, the smoke is smooth and tasty however not as strong as I would have liked.
@UnorthadoxDude, I agree, leave them another couple of weeks and reassess then.
Others have mentioned that the high is more cerebral than body which I found too.
Can't comment on how much CBN they can produce the longer they mature but I'd be very interested to hear how it goes for you after harvest.
@Jungian79, Hey growmie! Thanks for stopping by, yeah your 95cm plant is the one I referenced in an earlier week. I think I have grown the largest so far in these girls! I am going to leave them as long as I dare. I cut the first grow at day 60, these I am thinking 10-20 more days for the most mature, longer for the others. What do you think? I have heard that if left to get plenty of amber this strain can have body effects, so let us find out! Hopefully I will not be forced to cut anymore early.
@Dolfom, It is not supposed to! It is a 50-70cm strain... all the other grows I have seen, including my previous grow the plants stayed under 1m. As far as I am aware, and as far as RQS are aware, these are now all the largest Epsilon F1 plants grown so far. You can only expect such crazy growth with hydro and synthetic nutrition. In soil these plants will not grow so big, or even in organic coco grow. I am only using 600w HPS. I shudder to think what these plants might do with this nutrition, in even larger pots, with a modern LED growlight.
@Dolfom, yes! If it was to be any plant I am glad it was the smallest. I am now keeping a very very close eye on the inside of the bigger colas as these plants are developing. I have taken steps to increase airflow and reduce humidity.
Sorry to hear about your budrot 😭 it's horrible but hopefully you salvaged enough. Good luck with the hard deadline too, must be stressful.
The buds are looking insane! So sparkly 😋
My girls are dry, halfway through trimming. Hopefully give a weight this week 😎
Very nice updates this week! 👍 This growth is beyond my expertise in how to handle them, the only thing about not feeding them is they might start showing signs of deficiencies. They are hungry 😀 Maybe just start bending the branches horizontally if there are not too stiff.
