For this run we are growing two long flowering Sativas! This diary will be focused on the Purple Pakistani Haze from ACE Seeds, while the other one will be a Hawaiian Snow by GHSC.
I've heard alot of good things about ACE and I really appreciate that they continue to preserve and work on older legacy cultivars. Many of these cultivars just aren't grown anymore due to their difficulty and very long flowering time. Being a Sativa lover myself, it was a treat to be able to get my hands on these genetics and I am super excited to grow her out and see what she does.
These kinds of plants are supposedly a different beast altogether. They flower for 12+ weeks and their stretch lasts for eternity, easily outgrowing your tent if you let them. Heavy training is mandatory. I will be low stress training, topping, scrogging, you name it to keep the height down.
This is my first time growing a plant like this and I am very excited.
Started germination on 6/20 with the glass of water/paper towel method and had no issues. Put her in a 50/50 mix of light warrior and happy frog with some worm castings and she sprouted on 6/25.
Welcome to the first week of the Purple Pakistani Haze!
She popped no problem and is growing without issue. Kept the light on low so she's got a bit of a stretch to her but I've since increased the lighting to max and she seems to be doing just fine.
I plan on vegging her out only for 3-4 weeks before flip. I understand that these long flowering sativas stretch like crazy and I don't want her to outgrow the tent. I'll be topping her as soon as I can and want to give her at least a week after topping before flip, although I don't know how realistic this is. I plan on transplanting her sometime after day 14.
Wish me luck and see you next week!
Good growth on the PPH this week. It seems like she's outgrown her little pot and I will be transplanting her very soon. She will go into a 10 gallon fabric pot. I will also be topping her very shortly.
Had to put a sticky trap in the soil as well as some diatomaceous earth to kill off a few fungus nats. There are only a few, but that's all it takes so here's hoping we kill em all 👊
No more fungus nats.
I transplanted her on day 15 in 50/50 Ocean Forest and Happy Frog. Sprinkled some myco on her roots. Topped on day 16.
She's taken well to the transplant and growing just fine. I'll be flipping to flower very soon and I'll put the SCROG net up to keep her low. I have a feeling she is going to be a pain to train. Hopefully we don't hit the bottom of the lights during flower :D.
I flipped her this week and glad I did. She is growing like crazy, even moreso than the hawaiian snow. Its only been a week but its been difficult to keep her under the net. Been training her out pretty well though and will continue to do so.
No pistils yet. Expecting them in maybe another week or two. Put her on 11/13 instead of 12/12.
Pretty good growth since flip last week. No pistils yet, but expect to see them in a week or so. The PPH is growing just as fast as the Hawaiian Snow so I'm pretty happy about that. Hopefully the stretch around the same as well. I have a feeling I'm going to have trouble with the SCROGGING as they grow super fast, but we will see.
No need to feed yet. Will probably feed in about two weeks or so. Good temps and humidity in the tent.
Third week of flower and she is loving life. Been putting pistils out and stretching like CRAZY. I've never seen a plant stretch this much and its quite concerning. I've put up a second SCROG net and have been training branches out but there is only so much I can do. Most of the tallest branches are now at the edges of the tent. Hopefully I can keep her low. Maybe I will need a third net.
Fed her half a cup of Craft Blend and two cups of worm castings at the end of this week. She's got another 10+ weeks of flower so I'm trying to keep her well fed. I understand some of these sativas don't really like too much npk, but the craft blend should be fine. WIll be feeding every two weeks until the last weeks of flower.
I also gave her a lolipop this week. Most of the bottom branches are gone, but I'll probably be stripping some more here and there.
She keeps stretching! My light is nearly at the top of the tent and her tops are maybe 7 or so inches away from the light. I think she has been slowing down a bit but I'm unsure. I can squeeze a few more inches here and there but that's about it.
She's doing very well though. No other complaints.
Disaster has struck in the tent! The Hawaiian Snow hermed on me and I had to take it out of the tent and kill it. It dropped pollen so my Purple Pakistani Haze is most likely pollinated. As of the end of this week I still haven't noticed the plant producing seeds. I'm going to keep her in here until I notice seeds and then I will most likely chop. Praying for a miracle boys 🙏.
Well, at least the good news is that she has stopped stretching so much. Don't have to worry about the tops hitting the light which is nice.
Had to take one of the nets down. Moved the PPH to the middle of the tent and trained her branches out a bit. Praying that we don't have seeds in our buds as I really like this plant.
