This is my first grow. I received a Dr150 from a friend with a 600w ballast and a push to start my own grow. I bought a light, 600w hps, some 6" hurricanes and a 6" mountain air carbon filter. I bought a ph kit and temperature an humidity monitor, and the emerald harvest two part kit with a few extras. I have read many hrs and have watched many videos and all the responses to those videos and broken all it down to what I wanted to try. I got from the same friend 6 fem green crack plants that he had started. he originally germinated 13 seeds and concentrated on the 6 he wanted to keep so when i got my six the looked a bit behind his. but i got them! Now to grow them. I transplanted them from 3gl pots to 5gl pots and fed them. And forgot to ph my mix. so they basically drinking tap water.
Doing well. Little bit of stress training and I came home to new growth weight that had broken one plants branches. I had some green tape and wrapped the bends. And I forgot to Ph the mix again.
Well I got my Scrog screen installed on Saturday and I remembered to Ph my Mix this week. The girls look healthy, and from Monday to Today they have shown Growth!! YAY I'm so excited. I know Im so far away.
That looks like a slight nutrient burn to me. I’d suggest trying to back down a little on your feedings. Maybe reduce to 1/2 or 3/4 strength or feed less frequently. Otherwise everything looks great! 👍
So this is the start of the fourth week with me. I find this very engulfing. I like spending an hour with them a day and move the little ones out of the bigger fan leaves shadow by tucking the larger ones away giving the little ones a chance to get more light and flourish. I’m noticing more the strain my one girl went through compared to the others, her leaves being smaller than the other girls. I’ve tried to give them the best environment I can and realize I still play a huge role in their life. This is my first grow and I love it. I hope they grow up well and flourish. They were fed last week and had a bit of nutrient burn so this week I gave them just water. I’m not sure how much longer I should veg but I hear in the scrog game the longer you veg the better. Hoping for the best for everyone on GrowDiaries and their grows!
Well they have been on 12/12 for 2 days now, this evening they began their 3rd day of flowering. They need a good defoliation. I’m feeling very overwhelmed by the canopy density, because my screen has such small spacing, all the vegetation in the middle is very tightly packed. No major issues. Making sure to keep my ph in check and I dismounted my fan from it’s stand and zip tied it to one of the tent supports. Hopefully everything continues in the right direction!
Oct 3
The stretch is on. These girls look great. I’m going to be feeding them tomorrow. They have filled in quite nicely from their last defoliation and I need to do another. I’ve tucked a number of leaves I should have clipped but I didn’t. I will have to do it soon.
My dog, Slade, was being a suck tonight so I let him downstairs with me.
It smells like my high school years. The clippings I pulled out of my pjs which is now sitting on my dresser smells fresh. Very soothing. I grew up on oil so. This evening has had me wondering how hard and how much of my plants will be needed. IF I even get there. Im hopeful.
They are on their 10th day of 12/12. All six of my girls are showing white pistols. Two days before the flip they were fed veg nutes, last sat they got bloom nutes, they look good today but they have flourished a bit. I think I’ll feed them another lower dosage of bloom nutes tomorrow.
I have also defoliated them a fair bit tonight.
.It’s been very hard to sleep.
I want the best for them.
I’m trying to learn to as I can to hopefully give them that best opportunity.
They haven’t stretched in these first ten days as I thought. They have stretched don’t get me wrong. Just not like people had me thinking they would.
Least they had pistols at nine days.
Hope all is going well with everyone’s grows!
Well it’s the beginning of week three of flower for my girls. They look and smell magnificent. They all have flowers and the pistoles are bright white. I need to defoliate them again I think. And I was advised I should remove all the lower flowers, all the ones hiding and not getting much light. Will it be ok to just let them grow and just keep removing the larger fan leaves that clog up light getting to the lower parts of the canopy?
Regardless of stem size currently my branches each have 5 or more flowers on them. Will the returns from taking away those lower flowers be worth it to the tops ?
Will trimming flowers off my girls at this stage in their life hurt them?
I feel like I should let them be and just pull the leaves that clog up light dispersion.
I need to feed them this week. I really think the girl a like the emerald harvest nutrients, I had followed their portion chart up till the slight burn then cut back on the scale a bit.
Instead of feeding for six plant I’ve been feeding for four with the same amount of water. I’m very happy and excited for this grow, this has been quite the learning experience for me.
I hope everyone’s grows are goin well and wish you all a great harvest..
Oct 19. Heavy defoliation and small flowers pulled from all of the girls. Hopefully they dont take it hard and recover well. I should be able to let them go and not worry too much about smaller flowers taking away from bigger ones now. My hands smell amazing. I hope these girls turn out best as they can now.
So today Oct 24 is actually end of day three of week 4 of flower. The girls are doing great. It seems as though they may be a bit thirstier. They were watered late last week and they’d have since exploded again. My friend that helped me in the beginning to get me started helped out again and upgraded my 600w ballast to a 1000w ballast and 1000w hps bulb. I have raised the light by three inches so it’s 20” away from the plants. The temps have peaked at 80 just under the canopy during light and just after the light turned on temps had dropped 75ish. I have great air flow so I’m not too worried about it. My humidity has dropped where I live and so my tent has been around 30rh. I find it goes up after watering for a few hours. I will just give them water ph to 6.4 this Friday. The girls have been fairly great with me for how they have handled the nutrients I have given them. But they have been fed twice and I hear it’s best to break it up so I really don’t want to over feed these girls. They took to the defoliation and larf pull and exploded a day after with noticeable size on almost all tops.
I want to say thank you to those of you who have followed this grow. I APPRECIATE YOU.
And to everyone that has helped me along the way, you guys are the real heroes.
I hope everyone’s grows are going well and wish you all a great harvest !
So these girls seem to love the swap from the 600w to the 1000w with a noticeable difference in all of the flowers. I watered them late this week, one day behind schedule. They needed water on Saturday the lower leaves had drooped, they got just water this week on Sunday. By Sunday a few of the lower leaves had started to show signs of under watering and had begun changing yellow. By Monday morning all leaves had rebounded and all the girls were reaching for the 1000w like they were at the best concert of their lives. I do realize in their flowering stage they will require more water. They will be fed Friday. Hopefully these girls start packing on more weight over the next few weeks. The trichome production this week has been crazy. The smell, the smell when you first open the tent is incredibl, it’s a kick to the face, then mellows out to an incredible pot smell. I’m getting very excited.
Hope everything is going well for everyone’s grows! WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY HARVEST!
Well this was a very hectic week.
Sunday night my Titan Apollo 9 timer/power bar crapped out 2.3hrs into my light cycle. The girls went without light until I came home from work at 5. I Noticed the power bar had the reset popped. So i removed the extra cords and only had my light plugged in. Set the time to what it should have been and got them light again. Tuesday morning i woke up early to check on them and the power bar timer had popped again around 2.5 hours after I had them back up. I left them. That’s two days in a row they had 20+ hrs of darkness. I came home Tuesday after work, removed the power bar, my friend gave me a woods plug in timer and I switched my light to that. And now the set up is back to normal. The girls are back on the same schedule they would have been and the periods of dark have not been interrupted by any light.
Today is the beginning of their tenth week with me and starting their 3rd day of week 6 of flower.
They have been fed today and Im not sure if i will give them any more nutrients, maybe one more dose early next week and then flush the last few weeks.
These girls are sticky and stinky af. I hope they pack on more weight over the next few weeks!
I hope all is well with everyones grows and wish you all a healthy and happy harvest!!
They have packed on weight. The right side of the canopy that had stretched are all now supported as they have started to fall over. The have gotten their first flush water ph to 6.6 and I checked the run off, 6.4, 6.3, 6.4, 6.1, 6.3, 6.1. They seem like they will need water tomorrow so I will again ph it to 6.6 when I give it to them next. The smell is incredible. MY friend who gave me these harvested his plants a little early but we smoked one tonight after only a few days of cure and man is it intense. I hope mine come out as well as his. Few more weeks and these girls will be very nice I believe.
I’m very curious to know what people currently estimate my yield to possibly be.
I hope everything is going well for everyone’s grows and wish you all a healthy and happy harvest!
P.s sorry for the late entry for those who were following 🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😜
Well they have had their second flush and will be flushing for the third time on Friday. Colour change in the fan leaves. The buds have definitely gained weight. The smell is very intense. There are still many white pistols, im not really sure how long they should still be. I thought GC was 8-9weeks mine seem like they may go longer? First grow so I’m very poor visually gauging them.
I hope everyone’s grows are going well and wish you all a healthy and happy harvest.
And the whole right side that stretched out is still falling over but more and I need to do more work this weekend to prop up a number of stems.
🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😜🌲🔥
Well I definitely started to flush too early. What’s done is done. They are losing a bit of colour on some fan leaves on a couple of the plants. Some have lighted but are still doing awesome. Leaves are still perky and I definitely do see the buds still packing on weight. I will continue to give just phd water for the last two weeks. SUPER excited for these girls.
Hope all is well with everyone and wishing you all a healthy and happy harvest!
So this was my first grow. It has been a huge learning process.
I had run out of ph down and had forgot to grab some. They needed watering Sunday but my local store was closed for their Xmas party. I totally forgot I could have used lemon juice. Really being their last watering I could have just watered them.
I waited till Monday when I got home from work, I had grabbed some ph down at lunch. They were sad. They had lost a lot of colour and a number had leaned over.
I gave them phd water and over the following two days almost all the leaves were perky again.
I pulled the light plug Wednesday morning. They will get three days of darkness and I will cut them down Saturday morning.
I have honestly learnt so much this first grow.
Saturday will have been 69 days of flower.
There are so many coulda shoulda wouldas I won’t even bother. But I know for next time.
I have seen a number of amber trichomes and I don’t want couch lock medicine. I know there are still clear ones too but also a crap load of milky trichs, so I’m excited. Id like to give it at least a few days cure before trying it out. And I haven’t cut any down before hand to dry and sample.
I’ve been paitient, I’ve tried to give them my best. 😔 I know I slipped up a few times, possibly too early flush, late watering at the end here which almost wilted them right before harvest. But ive tried. And I’ve learnt. SO Much. About the plant. About care, which has also had me spending more quality time with my son. About myself and what’s important to me.
I hope they turn out ok.
I haven’t seen them today. 😔
Saturday.
My next weeks post will hopefully be of my glorious harvest. HOPEFULLY. 😳🙏🏼
I hope all is well with your grows my friends and i wish you all a healthy and happy harvest!
👊🏼😜🤞🏼🌲🔥
I have never grown Cannabis before. First time. Awesome experience. This strain brought me back to my youth, remembering all the good sticky icky I used to come across in my city. This stain is an amazing day medicine but too much of it and you could find yourself like me munching out hard core or completely unable to decide what to do next. I don’t want to play video games, I would almost rather clean and get things done, watching tv seems like a waste of time. I can comfortably get through the day with this strain. It literally brings back your energy. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great day medicine.
👊🏼😜🌲🔥
I’m very happy. This was my first grow.
These girls made me extremely happy.
I had my mistakes and corrected them when possible. I have learnt so much from this first experience.
I opened up the tent Saturday morning after three days of darkness and the plants looked so good to see. I got right down to work and started cutting the girls down.
Just before lunch i had one girl down and had to stop to get groceries for the week.
When I got home my friend came and helped me out for a few hours before leaving and coming back to help again.
I had to once again leave and come back but I managed to keep it together and finish taking all the girls down, wet trimmed and hung by Sunday @3:00am.
Harvesting was my biggest fear of messing up and I’m still not out of the woods yet.
It’s really dry up here(rh30) so I had a humidifier in the tent with them drying and it didn’t seem to do anything. After four days of hanging they were crispy on the outside and the tent had lost smell. I cut them down and began the jar curing process. I have burped them every 12 hrs making sure to move the buds in the jars and getting fresh air in each jar. The smell hasn’t left them it was just hiding and the jars brought them back.
Every burping fills the house with the smell of greatness and love. Lol
I have 10oz and 15grams total. Not including the 3/4 jar of small larf buds that I have been smoking which has been amazing and able to get me wrecked. I have tried a nice bud or two also, So good. I will definitely grow this strain again. Like next run. I have 8 GC clones/plants that are about three feet tall, need transplanting and then being flipped to 12/12. Just need to clean the big tent first.
Hope all is well with everyone’s and wish all a healthy and happy harvest!
👊🏼😜🌲🔥🙌🏼🙏🏼
Sounds like a great friend to have, lol. Also, nice setup. So, when you add water or anything for that matter, ph that to your 6.5 or whatever, don't just put tap water in there. As you have certainly read, ph is going to be key, nothing will work right without a good ph. Good luck on your new hobby!
Trichs always tell the real truth on doneness bud. If ya got a jewellers loupe then that obviously helps - ur lookn for cloudy mushroom heads mixed with a little bit of Amber (generally). In the absence of that and in my own humble opinion and experience - add 1-2 weeks on grow timeline provided by the breeder (def. applies to crop king and I’ve grown a few of their strains). When the big fans are turning yellow, you’re probably in the harvest window. Best I got for ya buddy and looking forward to the final weigh!👍😎👊
@TheBudWhisperer, thank you my friend! It’s definitely been a fun learning experience. Looking forward to more growing lol. New strains. Maybe trying a different technique. 🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😜🌲🔥 I want to smoke these girls so bad 😳
@Dadasgrow, yeah still too hard to tell without a digital microscope. That said you’re real close for sure.
Keep an eye on trichs in the middle area of the plant when u see cloudy there mixed with a little amber around the top area - your prob. Good to chop👍😉. Can’t wait to see the numbers on this dude. Great grow, really!
That looks like a slight nutrient burn to me. I’d suggest trying to back down a little on your feedings. Maybe reduce to 1/2 or 3/4 strength or feed less frequently. Otherwise everything looks great! 👍
@HighTV, was literally adding to it while you were typing I think. I know it seems some spots have fallen over from bud weight lol I need more sticks 😳.
ok to just let them grow?
Yes it will, but you won’t be maximizing the plants flower potential where it matters 😉
Regardless of stem size currently my branches each have 5 or more flowers on them. Will the returns from taking away those lower flowers be worth it to the tops ?
Yes, both in density and intensity my friend👍
Will trimming flowers off my girls at this stage in their life hurt them? If she’s healthy (and she is) It shouldn’t, this is week 3 and ur last real opportunity to stress the plant significantly before the more sensitive flowering weeks ahead. So in the long run no. I would be stripping what I could see now and defoliating pretty heavy in one sitting. Let er recover a week or so and keep an eye out for droopiness. Then, regular light pruning of leaves and removing the occasional larf where u find it. pruning on an ongoing basis until last couple weeks or so.👍
I feel like I should let them be and just pull the leaves that clog up light dispersion.
If that’s how you feel then cool. start slow with the leaves in the middle of the plant as well as the largest fan leaves. You can always take off more but never can you take off less😉. You gotta work with the plant and be careful yes - but this plant looks healthy and as though she could snap right back quick even if really stressed.
Hope it helps dude👊😎
@Dadasgrow, no worries buddy - that’s what this platforms for!👍
As far as these other questions are concerned - spot on dude. Exactly what I’d do. As far as feeding - keep to the regular schedule. I usually wait until the plants are ready for the next feeding and after I’m done defo I’ll give em a good drink to tide them over in recovery for the next couple days.
As far as the trichs on the lower larf buds are concerned - you’ll probably get higher sucking on a tail pipe than smoking those. The trichs wouldn’t have developed at this point and I doubt they’d have any thc component at all. Good luck and have fun with the defo (my favourite part of the grow). I’m around and will definitely keep an eye on this bud - looking great!👍👊😎
Stretch is very much dependent on the strain my friend and too much stretch indoors is a much bigger problem than too little. you want an example of this just check out @capitankush diaries. His tent is literally bursting due to a prolonged veg. Period. That said, don’t lose any sleep over this monster. She’s looking fantastic and your gonna get rewarded big time!!!👍👊😎👍
@TheBudWhisperer, the stretch is real, 24hrs later, a few of the girls tops at the back found 2”. 😳I spoke to soon. I’m gonna come home from work tomorrow and they will all have gained again. Just cause I said something.
@GreasyLuigi, I love this comment. 👊🏼😜🌲🔥🙌🏼🙏🏼 It took so long to get them all down, trimmed and hung. I’ll definitely be trying to figure out some better harvesting methods and techniques lol.
Man these girls are lookn pretty dude! What’s the size of ur grow space and how many plants? She looks full so I’m gonna take a shot at guessing ur yield.👍
