Everything went well and according to plan. 3 seeds planted directly into substrate. All seeds germinated on day 3. Using super soil substrate with 1 gallon cool plug filled with Fox Farms Happy Frog. Continue watering with plain RO ph @ 6.5. Tent temp 70-72F ROH 65-70%.
Other than lowering the lights some because plants were getting leggy a fairly uneventful week. Continue watering with RO water about 50-75 ml a day. A lot of growth from day 1 of week to end. Plan for a 4-5 week veg period before flipping to flower.
So, we’re only day 6 of week 2 veg and all three girls continue their rapid growth. This cultivar has the potential for vigorous growth, so I topped it this morning at the fourth node. This should encourage lateral growth. Watered with a 1/2 gallon RO mixed with 1/8 tsp epsom salt (mag and sulfur). Aiming for full and flat canopy prior to flip. Go girls go!
So, week 3 veg starts with the discovery of white spotting on lower leaf of Pheno #3. Never have I noticed this type of spotting in prior indoor grows. I initially thought leaf hoppers or maybe septoria, but it turns out to be a four-lined plant bug confirmed under scope (pest located). Removed infected leafs, pruned, and sprayed thoroughly with IPM consisting of Organishield and EM-1 mixed with RO ph’d at 6. Applied same treatment to remaining two Phenos. I’ll apply IPM treatment every 4-5 days for the next few weeks. Plant training begins this week as well (topping and pruning for a flat canopy).
End week 3 veg update - all sign of pest gone and all three plant have responded well to IPM and plant maintenance. Top dressed all three with worm casting and compost and watered from above and below (wicking). Checked weight for an idea of saturation point. I'll wait for complete dry to determine number of days between full waterings. Raised LED to max height and adjusted dimmer with PPFD @ roughly 505.
Challenging two weeks in the rearview: on top of catching a cold, I contracted Covid for the first time. As I stated in my other diary, a double-whammy! So, while the girls were neglected they continue to outperform expectations. Ethos what more can say about this breeder's genetics. AWESOME! In last weeks entry, I wrote about watering. Specifically, water to saturation and determine how long before dry-back, which turned out to be a full 7 days. Gave me breathing room (no pun intended) to take care of myself by staying in bed and in isolation for that entire period. While not 100%, well enough in the last day to perform defoliation and IPM prior to flip at the end of this week. Planning a gradual flip to flower. So, rather than the traditional immediate 12/12 over the next week I will gradually adjust lights going from 13 to 12 and then landing on a 11 on and 13 off schedule by the end of the week. Because I am using a super soil (not quite a living soil, so I'd like to make that distinction), I'll begin mixing up a flowering top dressing that I'll apply during the pre-flowering stage. I think that about covers it for now, so until next week Happy Holidays everyone who has stopped by to take a peek ;)
So, pretty straightforward week in the grow room highlighted by flip to flower. It’s a 3x3 tent so stretch is always of concern. Bottom 1/3 defoliation as well as lower suckers removed. Installed AC Infinity netting for support. All three Phenos look fine with good color. Looking forward to week two.
Another straightforward week in the grow room. All three Phenos continue to look fine with good leaf color. I've been working on this super soil recipe for three grows now. I learn a little more with each attempt and come to find this particular blend in larger 7 gallon grow bags IMHO is passing the eye test. All three are in stretch, so I'll continue to keep an eye out over the next 2-3 weeks. In the 3x3, I have manage height. No additional feedings just watered ph'd between 5.8 and 6.2. I do water at top as well as bottom (wicking). These girls are already beginning to exhibit a loud smell. Just bought a new carbon filter, which I will swap out today. This closes out the week. Thanks for stopping by.
This week all 3 Pheno continue to stretch, which likely will continue through end next week (week 4 flower). Fed girls Recharge prior to defoliation at the end of week. Day and night tent temperatures were constantly between 78F and 65F degrees. Relative humidity a consistent 55%. Using an online calculator found VPD range from day 1.48 (kPa) to 0.95 (kPa) at night. About as closed to optimum as one can get given existing equipment/tools and recent substantial rain in the SoCal region. Due for watering tomorrow, so prior to, I will top dress with worm castings, compost, and Langbeinite 0-0-22. I believe this should carry the 3 through to harvest. Breeder flower time listed is between 56 and 70 days. We are at day 20 flower as of today.
Week 4 flower went fine with all three humming along nicely in living soil. Watered to saturation after applying a 1" top dressing of worm castings, compost, and Langbeinite from Down to Earth. No need for further plant training, defoliation, or pruning. Now, just sit back and let these girls finish their run.
Ending the fifth week of flower, we are humming right along. Needless to say, weeks 1 to 4 of flower is where the hard work comes into play (pre and post flower top dressings, PPFD light adjustment, defoliation, structure netting, etc.). Now, it's just a matter of ensuring good health until harvest. Towards end of this week five, you can see the canopy of buds gaining in density and weight. I'll continue to gauge whether or not a second netting is needed. The super soil medium was top dressed at the end of week four, so that's it in terms of feeding. The final tea will take place at end of week six. Thereafter, ph'd water until harvest. The estimated harvest window is January 28 (day 56) to February 11 (70 days). Aside from the physical beauty of these girls, the smell is getting stronger by the day. Installing new carbon filter today.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my journal, it is very much appreciated. I'll provide an update same day same time next week. 😎
Significant drop in local temps this week 6 of flower. A cold stream hit the area bringing outdoor temps to below 60 F daytime and low 30's F at night. Had to bust out the portable heater, which when adjusted kept 12 hr dark indoor tent temps at about 65 F. I brought the humidity from 55% down to 50%, which has been fairly easy to maintain.
No nutrient regimen or training at this point:
Super soil with top dressings prior to flipping 12/12 and at week 4 of flower.
Defoliation prior to 12/12 flip and end of week four flower. Heavy lifting is over now, so maintaining health is priority #1.
I'm using 7 gallon fabrics, so watering is basically once a week (from below and above) to full saturation. It's not quite a full dry-back when it gets hit with another watering. Pheno #2 doesn't particularly enjoy the watering regimen as much as #1 and #3. Going to allow a day or two more of dry back to see if #2 responds better. I believe the other two will not be adversely affected, but will monitor closely.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Comments always welcomed.
Days 42 through 49 of flower and all three Phenos are expressing themselves differently. Pheno #1 continues to express darkened fan leaves almost purple and much more frosty than her sisters. Pheno #2 is the other end of the spectrum remaining green, but less frost. Pheno #3 seems to be a mix of the other two and its fan leaves are turning colors of autumn. Those are my visual observations as we head into week 8 of flower with harvest just around the corner.
No nutrients or grow techniques used during week 7 flower. Other than a watering to saturation on day 42, I really haven't done anything other than observing and maintaining health of plant. For me, that involves tracking VPD to ensure optimal plant performance. Able to track VPD with recent upgrade to the AC Infinity Cloudline Pro fan system. The integrated environmental controls managed on my smart phone has been a game changer. So, happy that I made the upgrade.
Thanks again for stopping by and checking out the diary.
Day 50 through 56 flower. No nutrients or grow techniques used this week. Other than a watering to saturation on day 50 and a top watering only on day 54, I really haven't done anything other than observing and maintaining health of plant. For me, that involves tracking VPD to ensure optimal plant performance. Able to track VPD with recent upgrade to the AC Infinity Cloudline Pro fan system. The integrated environmental controls managed on my smart phone has been a game changer. So, happy that I made the upgrade.

Day 57 to 61 of flower. No nutrients or grow techniques used during week 9 flower. Other than a watering to saturation on day 57, I really haven't done anything other than observing and maintaining health of plant. For me, it involves tracking VPD to ensure optimal plant performance. I'm now able to track VPD with an upgrade to the AC Infinity Cloudline Pro fan system. The integrated environmental controls managed on my smart phone has been a game changer. Continue to be happy with the upgrade.

Absolutely my favorite cultivar grown so far - hands down. All three phenotypes expressed themselves differently from color to trichome. It was a pleasure experiencing their transition from veg to late flower. Probably the easiest grow to date in my modified super soil recipe. Used only compost, worm castings along with fish based nutrients (fish meal and bio-fish) and mineral inputs in 7 gallon fabrics under a Mars-Hydro FC-E3000 / AC Infinity 3x3 tent with the CloudPro 69 controlling the environment. I gave one top dressing prior to flower and one other at week 4 flower. In retrospect, top dress prior to flower was all these girls needed. Stems strong, which helped support dense colas and nice internode spacing. The finished product gave off aromatic sceof ripened cherries/fruit and gas.
Straightforward with nothing to report out of the ordinary. I top watered on day 56 then let them dry back prior to harvest (day 61). Nice mix of milky and amber trichomes. Harvested early morning prior to lights on.
I received a cross of Lilac Diesel #22 free from Attitude when I ordered my newest seeds, its Lilac Diesel #22 x Grandpa's Cookies #7. So this diary helpful!
That’s awesome, SSB. Happy it’s a help. Same cultivar included in the multipack. Ethos said good outdoor growth so it will be part of my summer balcony greenhouse crop. If you have questions, hit me up. Happy and healthy grow.
@Golden, these girls are getting some size on them this second week of veg. I’ll post more pics soon. I’d be quite happy with 4oz a piece in the 3x3. Thanks for asking. Happy growing.
Nice 2 c a fellow grower using the exact thing when needed. I have been using Epsom Salt for 1.7yrs. And used Cal powder from GHF, but switched to dolomite lime. I good dose of powder to the sub and it does cal for up to 3months.
Excellent grow. This is 1 breeder im determined to buy. I haven't bought a seed since my 2 round of grow was over.
Would u recommend it, r you think there nicer ones, jacket or smoke wise?
