Watering is taking place every 24 hours, and it's very evident that B.A.C. Lava Soil tends to absorb very quickly and dry out just as fast. As for the LED setup, the Phytoled Resina NX 200 (4 modules) is in use, with a nominal power of 192 watts and a Bluerple spectrum on an 18/6 cycle. The seedling has adapted magnificently to the transition from the jiffy to the pot, and all that remains to be noted is the fantastic vigor of the cultivar in its early stages. TommyBVRSA75 Well, magnificent continues to be the incredibly vital way in which the Blueberry autoflower from PEV keeps thriving. Incredible the excellent genetics of this backcross and great signs of how it's integrating nutrients into a substrate that was an experience for me, this Lava Soil from B.A.C. at the beginning and very visible, and while the areas of substrate that hadn't been moistened in the first days, as I told you, my first impression was that this substrate had a very strong tendency for the absorption of the water/nutrient solution and that watering would have to be very consistent at about one liter a day. As the days went by and with the substrate now more saturated with water, it becomes clear that I won't need to give it as much water as I thought, and in the most recent days, I'm alternating between one day with a liter of Megariz/Grow Base solution and another day where, for safety and to balance the essential integration of Magnesium that CalMagSi can provide, I water with a spray bottle in a smaller and more superficial amount. It has also been an option in the most recent days to add mycorrhizae grains on the surface to assist in the perfect integration of nutrients, and as I was used to working with coconut substrate in the closer times, it was also necessary to adjust the pH to 6.4. The nutrients from Witcher's Potion by Cannaboom, due to their design for use in water with a perfect EC of 0.4 √s, and because the water I use for watering is collected from the dehumidifier, which generally requires an acid agent to lower its pH (it tends to be around 8 pH, so even without mineralization, it's very basic water, it needs to be "worked" to stay around 6.4/6.5, which is the perfect pH rate for our autoflower to become supersonic. TommyBVRSA75 Well, you see, day 20 and here in these parts, unbeatable, super companions. The "girl" blue - the Blueberry from PEVGrow is showing champion qualities. Perfect progress in her development and I couldn't have made a better choice than using the 26-watt growth PLEDs as auxiliary... So with the two little tubes at a level lower than the main NX 2 200 and 192 nominal watts but with Bluerple spectrum, the grow has started to do what nature would typically do, which is to take a vertical stretch in the vegetative stage. So I'm showing you the photos of how she has turned into a real ship with very short internodes and with the potential for the side branches to keep coming out while the central cola develops. I already see signs of pre-flowering, so this week I will apply the Delta Nine from Cannabiogen foliar and always keeping the pH at 6.5 and the EC rates within what Cannaboom recommends for its mineral line Witcher's Potion and there it goes... the automatics and their simplicity when you already have the bar set higher due to the challenges that the pending photos and the work in hydroponics and coco impose on you. Here the key word and action is to have an understanding of what your substrate in use has in terms of absorption and keeping the pH at 6.5 as a constant and the nutrient supply to remain within what the cultivation tables recommend, and if you have to make variations, know very clearly which minerals you are integrating and that based on the signals we start to nourish them for flowering in their time and with what they need. The Lavasoil substrate from B.A.C. is simply perfect, and any gaps it may have in P and K absorption can be compensated with the CalMagSi from the line, and since we are on the way to flowering, making decisions like today and diluting some good black molasses to feed the rhizosphere and integrate water and the most important nutrients in the best way, but also some like iron, zinc, and molybdenum that due to their limited availability characteristics, are microelements that ultimately make the difference between success and failure in terms of buds - quality, quantity, size, and density. TommyBVRSA75 Well, very well, friends, the "marimorena" has been set off with this season's autoflowering. The use of TNC Bactorr s13 and the atmospheric integration of nitrogen by symbiotic bacteria during the final part of the vegetative stage skyrocketed to a tremendous limit, and now I almost have to put the "girl" on a nitrogen diet. I made a very inaccurate calculation about the cycle weeks, and my idea of giving her a boost and starting to load her with PK for a flowering that shouldn't have happened as quickly as I thought has led to a misjudgment with "mega" consequences. As you can see, I no longer have a cabinet for the grow, and I had to hastily disconnect the two 5100 K growth supports (the two auxiliary PLED growth tubes), and I even had to improvise by wrapping the guides of the main LED since there was no more space for "cane" vertically, and it's overflowing on the sides. Let's see, just today, exactly 5 weeks have passed since I put the seed in the wet paper... so only on November 6, the grow could assume seedling condition, and with that, exactly 30 days have passed since the transplant of the seed in the jiffy pot to the pot. So today marks the "fucking" 30 days since the start of the seedling stage, and as such, today officially marks the beginning of flowering because today, the pistils were clearly seen coming out of the tops (meaning the idea I had that flowering couldn't start and would be delayed) is actually perfectly timed, and thank goodness I've already taken measures to completely halt the vegetative growth. If you look at the photos, what a monster has been created, and we will have to take it as calmly as possible because there's a "forest" of branches and flowering points all along the grow. The nutrition that has already had a good amount of PK has provided a solid boost to start flowering. Let's see if you notice, there's not a hint of over-fertilization, and it's perfect, as the darker green color is part of the strain... In this, things have their time, and the rules of autoflowering are entirely theirs; what doesn't make them start flowering can always be due to light deficiency or changes in it; from overwatering, which hasn't happened at all, and another thing would be the quality of the genetics, which is unquestionable... this morning, because I hadn't looked closely at the diary entry dates, I thought, "to hell with it, the autoflowering has messed me up, and it's not going to start flowering, and I'll have to throw it in the trash." TommyBVRSA75 So, week 6 and finally the flowering explosion has started. It's become very necessary to do LST on the top branches, and I've bent them with plastic pins to give "path" to the twists of the tips of the canopy of the autoflower. In the last few weeks, it's been a struggle trying to slow down the enormous pull of this cultivar, as if it were still integrating nitrogen like crazy, and with that, the central branches keep shooting up, even trying to maintain distance from the LED light, the branches are still reaching for the "sky." About a little more than a week ago, there was a need for a significant defoliation, as the lower part of the grow was severely absorbing the flowering production capacity. The "vampire" branches are normal, junk that the autoflower genetics create in abundance due to nitrogen integration, and with that, the abundance of branches with flowering points that are not viable and that disperse the energy needed for the buds to develop in the upper areas with the desired volume and density. Something immediately stands out, which is the pungency of the aroma that is now very noticeable, and it is now very clear that the bud formation process is perfectly underway. The day count is currently - 18/12/2023 - at 48 days, meaning we are at the limit of the 6th for the 7th week, and now the outlines of the buds are very defined. It is very clear that there will be larger and more voluminous buds alongside the central area, and there will also be more along the middle of the plant, which will likely not be buds of a reasonable size, but for me, that remains the most evident handicap in autoflowers. There are always those who make selective cuts of areas of buds that are maturing, but for me, that goes against nature, like completing a flush... if you cut the canopy and the main satellite branches with their buds, it will be unthinkable for the remaining ones to develop after cutting other branches, for the simple reason that the cut, as a rule, due to the stress caused and the natural characteristics of autoflowers, immediately suppresses any development from there on. Therefore, the only possibility is (and it's a necessary evil) to let the main buds (the tips of the canopy and the central cola) mature almost to the limit and then allow the smaller buds to grow to the limit. But, that's how things are, and what we can balance when we are about to harvest. What confuses me the most about autoflowers is that some (not to say a majority) are currently and in recent genetics turning into something very interesting in the final smoke result, but for me, they still feel like the story of the uncle who is cold at night and has a short blanket; if he covers his feet, his torso is left uncovered, and if he covers his body, his feet are out... meaning they are cultivars programmed for almost mechanical development... you know you have that two-week margin between what the banks inform you they take to grow and the time that ultimately makes it clear that you can't keep giving them "juice" ad aeternum and expecting them to look like photoperiods, knowing that the grow is ready to max out. Autoflowers also have very particular things, and while I've had autoflowers from the "fucking amazing" category that are incredibly good, and there's no need to give the finger to bank 42 FastBuds, there is one autoflower they have, their dwarf Russian Autk, which is one of my all-time favorite strains for its flavor and consistency as great smoke material, and there's no doubt about that. But then there are autoflowers that are just bad and weak in every aspect. But there is also something very clear, that there are banks that maintain some photoperiods, that there's no way to turn the painful into something of good quality, and there's something in my diaries that I developed not too long ago, which was one of the biggest disappointments I've had in my life as a grower, and that's how things are... what really matters this season is that maybe I'm ecstatic with the "gift of the gods" that Ripper Seeds has given me with their two photoperiod strains... the excellent Blueberry also shines in the autoflower category, and now it's clear that it explodes and explodes without a doubt because last week we had to wait for the normal "shock" of the extensive defoliation done to the plant, which involved a natural "pause" of a few days to recover from the stress, and to limit it a lot, I have to say it was thanks to a great contribution from the organic nutrient line, Madame Grow, and their excellent Lacalva Anti-Stress.
