Hey all. First time growing. Popped this girl June 28. Thought she was ready for flower end of July and switched to 12/12 light. She stretched for another 4 weeks before I saw flowers. I attribute the delay to her being too warm ( 30*C+ ) and a possible light leak during scheduled dark. Either way she is looking well lots of sugar and a dreamy citrus-y earthy aroma. This started out as more of a throw-the-seed-in-the-pot kinda thing and see what happens, to hey this thing is really gonna go so now I have to learn all I can about how to get a proper grow and harvest. I fed her regular and flushing her regular once every other week during her veg cycle, then once I switched to 12/12 and began upping her nutes I began flushing her weekly.

Most of my focus so far has been growing. Any harvesting/curing/hash recipes/tips out there aside from dark and cool? I know whiskey mellows with age. Are there methods that affect or enhance taste and smoothness?

Hello ! One of the most common tips to get rid of chlorophyle and to devolep a better taste & higher thc level is to keep your plant in the dark during 72h at least ( with a good airflow to avoid mold ) , this step will low the chlorophyle level in your leaves ( chlorophyle is ressonsible for bad taste ) , then after that step you can go for drying in a dark place with good airflow and low humidity level ( use a fan to improve airflow , 21°C and 50% humidity is the sweet spot ). Then after the drying process come the curing : it will bring out flavors , get you rid of the last chlorophyle traces in your buds and can improve potency. To make a good curing you will need to put your final product into jars during at least 2 weeks ( a month is better ) and open them 10 to 15 min a day during that period ( store your jars in a dark place , keep your but far from lights) and maybe use some boveda humidity packs to keep you himidity at the same level. I hope it will help you to make a good curing 😁👍

Keep losing power these last couple weeks for random reasons. The latest was a storm. All you can do is adjust the timer and move on. I don’t see any effects one way or the other. We are heading into the homestretch here. I’m gonna feed her for a few more days then cut nutes. I managed to collect some rainwater so I will be using that for the next few finishing weeks to flush her. Good times.

Wild week. AC went down for about 8 hours. She got real stinky there for a bit. Temps back under control got it set at 19/67 degrees. I cut nutes although I am still seeing flowers so not sure if this is too early or not. It seems the widow likes to take her sweet time about things so I may need to feed her a bit more. I’ve been watching the trichs pretty close I expect her to start getting more frost here too so I’ll be a bit more obsessed as these next couple weeks tick by.

Well for better or worse I cut nutes. Still growing bud and putting on weight. Except for topping her, I pretty much let her do her thing. I will def look at different pruning methods for the next go. Probably expand the grow area as well. 4x4 gets mighty tight these days.

Well hell it was a quiet uneventful week for a change. I am seeing more and more milky trichs. She is still flowering but I can see that is coming to a close as well. Her citrusy pine scent is very noticeable but not overwhelming, which is one of the reasons I chose this strain to keep it on the DL. Getting closer!!

Another uneventful week. Temps here have dropped drastically which in turn causes the greenhouse to drop much more than previously anticipated. I’m in it for the duration, I don’t see any negative effects and she’s is still sucking down the water and putting on weight. I’m guessing the lower temps may slow her down more and looking at some of the outdoor ww grows on here... gonna keep a close eye on her and keep flushing her. Lot more milky!!!

Well another good week. Should be final week. She is looking good and the trichs are really thickening up. Temps are down to about 15c nightly. I am not seeing any cold stress except for her foliage is turning yellow, very pretty. the buds are developing nicely and starting to see amber here and there. IM thinking last week But we shall see. Later

Taking notes on my greenhouse faults and weaknesses. Too much influence from the exterior weather is the main issue. She is still flowering and still growing bud.

I actually chopped her on the 24th of December. So there were a couple more weeks of waiting here. Wound up with a gnat problem the last couple of weeks as well. After about 2 days of dark I went in and cut her down and removed the pot and soil. Gonna have to figure out how to prevent that going forward. After looking at her root structure it didn’t have a very well developed or deep penetration system. I am gonna have to get a system in place and learn scrog method. All in all this is a fine smoke. Better than or equal to some of the best I’ve had 💨. I may give it another go here in a few after this has finished drying and then I want to expand the greenhouse some and rewire it. Thanks for all your support and advice all. ✌️

Hi @Deadhead! Well, here comes my list: 1/ harvest before the light turns on, for maximum potency & terpenes. Terpenes and THC are degraded by light and heat during the daytime. 2/ don't rush your drying process, you will ruin your product's quality, this should take at least 7 days if you're in a continental weather. Look at the perfect drying conditions and try to stick with it. 3/ jars are the best way to cure, but don't forget to hide them in the dark, once again light will damage your product. 4/ keep your trimming wastes to make some canna-butter, it's much easier to do than hash and you'll have a lot of fun eating this with your friends. 5/ when trimming, take a break every 10 minutes to remove the glue/hash/pistils from your scissors, this will be your first joint, you can smoke it while trimming! Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Correct 60-85f for growing and maintaining. During the later flowering stages the cooler temps at night can get better resin coverage quantity and quality. Also, it gives a higher terpene content and a more flavorful and aromatic flower. Plus I’m also reading some varieties also have color changes akin to fall foliage. The soil keeps a steady temp so roots are good, it has peaked my interest and I’ve come this far and all the conditions say why not. ? @BeefWellingtons

@CRiSPrGrow, she gets 10 high intensity fluorescent 4’ tubes and 3 smaller watt leds? It’s what I got put together for nothing. I def will upgrade at some point and rebuild the greenhouse too

Well I have to point out, 54f is too cold for cannabis. Do her a solid and go buy a small ceramic heater and put it in there with her to warm her up. It costs like 11 bucks and she will thank you for it. If you do more grows where it's cold, you can get it hooked up to a thermostat control so it goes on if it's under x degrees, and goes off if it reaches y degrees. Either way, good luck on your grow (I have personally seen 14 dead shows, and love your name)

@Deadhead, well not really the same since Jerry Garcia died in 1995 imo. On that note, I have heard of a grower on here using cold morning method to slow down growth, and keep the plants smaller/shorther. So the science is like this, you can grow in a range of 60-85f (15-30c), however the article says that at 68f (20c) the sugars that the plant needs slow down and have a harder time reaching their destination. Not what you want if you are trying to fatten up your colas. But I hear you on wanting to go natural ;)

@BeefWellingtons, thanks bro. Love their music but hate crowds so I’ve never been. I only hear about what I’m missing ha ha. I’ve been watching her close on the temps 14.4/57.9. From what I can gather, while controversial, there is evidence that chilly temps can be quite good for the plant and building up good buds. Nothing about her indicates cold stress for better than a week. I’m gonna roll with it as it mimics outdoor climates and I would like to do an outdoor grow one day and o have heaters on standby jic. 😬

BeefWellingtonscommentedweek 146 years ago
Well you have good cold temps that are idea for drying. This last two harvests I only trimmed off fan leaves, leaving the others on and hung them up in complete darkness with wind movement (but not direct fan on them). After 3 days or so I put them still on stalks into paper bags for another 3 or 4 days. I did this as its warm here and I wanted to slow the process, however with your cold temps you can probably get away with doing the whole thing just hanging in a dark place. Keep an eye on the humidity and keep checking for bud rot every day. After, trim up (weigh it and update your dry weight) and put into mason jars in the dark. Pull them out every day and open the jar tops (called burping the jars), for 15 min. After 1 week of that maybe add some humidity packs at 58 if planning to smoke in next 2-3 months or 62 if you want to store for longer periods. If they smell like hay, pull them out and put all the buds on cardboard in the dark for an hour of so, then back in the jars, the aromas will come out
