Well she got moved under the led and she seems to love it. I watered her last night so I'm going to transplant her tomorrow into 3 gallon smart pot. I've been giving her nothing but bottled water. She love the happy frog. Will fim her in a few days. Update: transplanted her into her 3galllon smart pot. Gave her the first feeding of nutrients. Followed the directions on the box for technoflora. Probably gave a little too much water but with a fan and fabric pot she will dry out a little faster. Still can't fim as not enough on top to remove. I might have to skip the fim, not sure yet. Thanks for checking out my grow!

Grow Questions

Ok so I have this big fan leaf showing issues. The last 2 pictures of this week are of this leaf. The leaf is about halfway up the plant and no other leaves are showing same issue. To me it looks like N deficiency, but I have N excessive on the top of plant with dark clawing tips

Leaves. Curl down

Athosanswered grow question 6 years ago
Sorry but no, it is not N deficiency. If you look closely you will notice that it is interveinal yellowing (the veins are dark green and in between them the leaf is yellowing) and that's a classic magnesium deficiency. That can have 2 reason: the first and most obvious is magnesium deficiency because of lack of magnesium (not likely since you are feeding cal / mag) or due magnesium lockout due either P or K toxicity (both when given in excess lockout many seconday elements, magnesium among them). Looking at the feeding strength of your current (and past) weeks I can tell that you are feeding really strongly for soil; that your leaves are dark green, have some burnt tips and clawing (leaves tips are facing down) also shows nitrogen toxicity. Also the top leaves have really thin blades, that's another sign of either p or K toxicity. for future reference I would try not to go over 1.4 to 1.7 EC in flower adn feed no more than once every 5 to 7 days. For now stop feeding altogether and let the plant consume the excess nutrients present in the soil and its own stores, do not feed gain, you are too close to harvest (1 or 2 weeks I would say).

So I just found out my ph pen is totally off. I have drops so I was able to get the ph range into 6.5 area. I fed her .7 gallons of water.

@BeefWellingtons, I’ve found my digi meter to be unreliable at times as well. Too lazy to recalibrate so I’m kickn it old school now!👍. Grows lookn good brotha!

@TheBudWhisperer, well he is a good friend and a smart person, so that's why I was upset...he even told me my sour stomper was 'fire', which I agree, that shit was/is fire. So my worry us that he doesn't think I have the skills to recreate 'fire', which I know I can do. I will try to guide him soon on the transplant, and we will see how they go from there. I think I'm going to start the grow (I have pics and notes from their first week) and update that on here if possible.

@TheBudWhisperer, I guess my issue is he asked for instructions which I gave him. Then he just did his own thing, which was damaging the plants.

Fed .9 gallons of h20 at around 7ph. Run off was 1270 ppm and around 6.1 ph. Does this sound normal? I haven't fed nutrients in 4 feedings and my ppm seems to be going up?

@TheBudWhisperer, well all cards on the table, that other grow was in hydro, which would have finished earlier, but like I mentioned I did a crap ton of defoiliating and bending colas, it was a stressed plant for sure. I'm guessing 2 weeks out from now.
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@BeefWellingtons, now that was a good idea with the lower strength feed. If last run was 15 weeks it’ll be interesting to see where this one finishes. Got some WW gems on the way in the mail myself😎
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonscommented6 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, I gave them a 1/4 strength .7 gallons of h20 and nutes this morning. Next watering will begin the 7-10 day flush. I did check them out and I know I'm beyond 7 days for harvest. My other ww took 15 weeks and I did a lot of breaking stems and defoiliating. With this one being minimum stress, I'm pretty sure 2 weeks out will be perfect.

I think I'm still about 10 days out so I added some Botanicare Ripe which suggests feeding to the end, but I'm just adding it this one time...I keep forgetting to add it to my grow. Also, it dropped the ph down really bad, had to pull out ph up for the first time.

Fed .8 gallons of ph 6.7 water today and rotated her 45 degrees for better light coverage.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonscommentedweek 66 years ago
Fed her .7 gallons at 6.5 range ph. I am a little nervous as she looks kinda droopy but I hope that is just from lack of water and not a bigger issue. I will keep an eye out.

Lookn prime buddy. Re; branch chop - if @athos is right about u only being a couple weeks from harvest, I’d leave those branches be. You’re gonna have a smoke off this one for sure and I wouldn’t want to stress my plant out and limit bud growth in the last couple weeks of flower. Worst case if you do - I wouldn’t chop more than 1 every few days to limit the shock of it. I honestly would’ve expected a longer flower period for WW but only ever grown a cross of it myself. Good luck bro!👊
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperercommented6 years ago
@BeefWellingtons, if that’s the case and it’s previously demonstrated itself to be a resilient strain then IMO it might be worth a shot to increase bud production elsewhere. I’d do a little at a time every couple days over this week or so if u do pull the trigger and cut em. If it’s not a short finisher then I’d say that this week is the hard cutoff to do it. I generally try not to touch my plants (save light pruning) after end of week 3 flower. Hope it helps dude👍👊
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonscommented6 years ago
@TheBudWhisperer, I believe I am 3 weeks out. Based on my first grow of ww. That took 15 weeks but had a lot of defoiliating and supercroped tops. So at least 3 weeks out imo. I will know better in 2. I was just not sure if it will help with flower production or just end up elongating my grow and adding a couple of weeks to harvest. I expect this harvest to be some time after week 12.

Dude - I run into this issue all the time on my soil grows. It’s like it takes the pot forever to dry out and it totally screws with my nute schedule (actually part of the reason I went to coco indoors). She should start drinking a lot more soon anyway. only concern I’d have with watering less, is not getting enough runoff after each watering - keep an eye on any signs of lockout and please keep it updated on GD. Interested to see how this plays out!👍👊. As far as the height is concerned - u consider supercropping the top of er? It would help if ur battling height differences in the tent and it’s still early enough to do it I think. Did it once myself with an auto around week 2 of flower (by accident) and it really supercharged the other branches. Just a thought anyway. Good luck bud, can’t wait to see her colours!

@BeefWellingtons, Hey man - whatever you think is gonna work best. I'm a big proponent of making your grow your own and we only learn from respective experience👍. How much water you afford the plant is often based on what stage of it's growth cycle it's in. In your case, this girl is in the stretch/transition phase and as such, she's gonna start gulping down water generally faster than she did in veg. soon. Regarding runoff - the rule of thumb is between 10-20% every watering, whether it's coco or soil. Not only does it allow you to test the ph of what was in the medium (if you have something to collect it in), it also ensures that you run through the new nute water completely and (hopefully), flush out the lingering old stuff. With soil, and at this stage, I would probably try running a full litre or more on it and see what ends up coming out the bottom. When you have a decent amount of runoff, say .1 - .2L then ur good. It really is beneficial to the plant's growth. Now keep in mind, this won't solve your issue with watering every 4-5 days. if you're watering properly (and I think you are minus the runoff point), then the plant needs what it needs, when it needs it. 3 days or 5 days - it's up to the soil and the plant brother. This is what soil is supposed to do anyway - it has it's own nutrients built in for the first few weeks and it holds on to nutes that you give it too. You have two options on that front. #1 amend your soil with more purlite - like 2/3 perlite and 1/3 soil. She'll drain quicker and dry out faster if you want to stick to a more frequent nute sched. Or you could try coco & perlite on a 50/50 mix - it's got excellent drainage and good nute holding properties. Essentially the same thing as soil, only it drys out quicker and is completely neutral in terms of nutrients which allows you to dictate what it gets and when😉. Coco absolutely requires you to water through whereas soil is a little more forgiving. IMO- ur kinda stuck with whatever sched. the soil allows for given the current environment. Shitty and unfixable answer, I'm sorry. But also understand that I just got stoned and went off on this response! Cheers homie and happy Friday! Whatever you decide, I'm watching with interest! PEACE!👊

@TheBudWhisperer, I did supercrop a couple of my colas on my first grow, about 4 or 5 weeks into flower, freaked me out to do it. I thought about it with this one, but it looks like if I pull her to the wall, she will get more light coverage and still be far enough away from light so she won't get cooked...that way no supercrop will be necessary. So the other thing I want to ask is how much runoff do you recommend? I just put the liquid in the pot and that's it. I do about 20-25% of the total volume (3 gallon), or .7-.9 gallon per feeding, but like you said it takes way too long to dry out and doesn't allow enough nutrients to be fed as often as I'm sure she needs them?
