Day 6 - All 4 plants had roots showing below the seedling tray this morning, so it's transplanting day. The 3 GDP Autos got transplanted into 3 gallon pots, the Gold Leaf went into a 1 gallon pot.
All of the plants got a light watering with Bigfoot Mycorrhizae solution to help them settle in, 2 cups for the GDP autos, 1 cup for the Gold Leaf. I'll be checking on them later tonight to see how they've handled the stress, the Gold Leaf still doesn't look fantastic, but the roots seem OK. Hopefully the "feed" from the soil helps all 4 rebound relatively quickly.
Day 7 - Think the Gold Leaf isn't gonna make it, but I'm keeping her in the tent anyways just in case she decides to recover. The 3 GDP Autos seem to be thriving in their new pots, cotyledon leaves have grown since yesterday. Humidity jumped up in the tent without the aid of the humidifier, so I'm hoping that's a sign that the 3 plants are beginning to transpirate and add oxygen and water vapor into the tent on their own. No water as of right now, they got maybe a half cup apiece last night before lights went out, and the soil appears somewhat damp still. Dialed the light up a bit from just under 40% to about 45%, gonna see if the plants respond well to it.
Day 9 - The Gold Leaf didn't make it, pretty sure I accidentally overwatered it in the seedling plug, it never took off post transplant. The 3 GDP Auto plants are doing very well in the new pots. A more experienced friend of mine suggested the tent was too cold, and he was right. Once I got the tent up to 78-80 degrees the growth exploded. I had to go on a long weekend trip to Chicago so I set up my Blumat drip irrigation system to make sure the plants don't want for watering while I'm gone. Watered each plant with half strength GrowBig from Fox Farm in order to get the soil moisture levels right for the Blumat carrots. Light was dialed from 45 to 50% now that the plants appear to have established themselves well in the new containers.
Gold leaf #1 has developed a white substance on one of its seed leaves. Can anyone tell me what this is, and if I need to do anything to combat it it necessary? Going to let the Gold Leaf dry a little bit (no water) over the next 24 hours and see if that helps.
if that is a peat plug or anything like it, it is void of nutrients and plants need them to grow.
It also looks to wet and waterlogged that's not good for the baby roots.
Double check you feed concentrations and watering habits. less is more in terms of water in seedlings and a week feed should be good for mediums void of nutrients.
Best Of Luck!
For people who use Blumat systems, what's the procedure for mixing in nutrients/supplemental things for growth? The Blumat system pulls water when the soil dries past a certain point, so what's the best rule for feeding in that case? Shut the system "off" a few days pre feed?
Your plants look really good. My grow setup is very similar to yours. My plants are in day 15 starting wk3. Keep up the good work. GDP is a great strain. One of my wife’s favorites. We love the purple strains the best.
