1.20.2024: Time to gives this a go. 2.3x2.3 tent, XS1500 light, 2 gal fabric pots. Pots filled with FFOF(90%) & Perlite(10%.) Don't ask me why I chose 90/10. Nutrents are the FF Trio. Also growing a freebee seed from Humboldt Seed Co(Emerald Fire OG Auto.) Decided to germinate directly into the medium. Light is at 50% power at 2.5ft from the top of the pot(s). I'll have the light running 24hrs until it sprouts(fingers crossed it does.) I sprayed the top soil with pH 6.5 water when i stuck the seeds in then placed clear plastic cups over the seed location. My 4inch fan is on the way and it comes with a monitor for temp and humidity....no idea what current stats are. Just hope the damn thing spouts. Fingers crossed. More to come.
1.23.2024: 3 days and still no sprout. Going to give it another day or two before i go fishing for them. Off to a fantastic start!
1.24.2024: They've finally popped....aaaaannnddd we're off!
1.25.2024: Took the lil domes off, opened 2/3 vents for some circulation. Been misting the top soil just to keep it moist with 6.5ph water. I also "bottom fed" 12oz of water just to keep things lubricated. On the fence about when to give the plants a proper watering. Might keep things going "as is" for the next two days. Inline fan and associated hygrometer comes tomorrow(1.26) so i'll finally have an idea on what the current stats are in the tent. Will make adjustments at that point in time. Light is 2.5 ft from soil at 50%.
1.26.2024: Inline fan came yesterday. Only set up the probe just to understand temp and humidity. With the light at 50%, 2 ft from the soil, all vents closed except one(1) port at the top, my current temp hovers around 79 and the RH is 50%. After setting up a humidifier, i'm now running 75 degrees, 64% RH and VPD .58. All within tolerance. I can already tell it will be a delicate dance managing heat, exhaust fan speed and humidity. Still haven't given the plant more than 2 cups of water and i'm only watering when the soil is dry. Tomorrow(1.27) marks 1 week since the seed was dropped. Plan is to lightly water the entire pot when dry for the next week or until growth really kicks in.
1.27.2024: First week in the books. Today marks the first full watering i've given the plant. 6-8 cups in total of 6.5ph tap water that. Surprised to see 2 cups worth of runoff. Tested the runoff, 6.5ph. I think thats good? Still under 24/0 light. Will set up a timer and shift to 18/6. Biggest issue is controlling humidity. Monitor was reading 47% so i bought a small humidifier. Very difficult right now to control airflow and humidity. Can't have a fan on with vents open while the humidifier is going cause it just blows out. Even with a bottom vent open and a top or side vent open, humidity can't stay above 60%. If i close everything the humidity shoots up to 80% and looks like a jungle inside the tent. I've got a 4inch inline fan waiting to be installed but it will literally suck the life out of the tent, so no use for it right now. Plant is just over 2 inches, and while they have great color and look strong, they just seem tiny for day 7. Hopefully i'll see better leaf production in the next few days.
1.28.2024: Installed the inline fan and carbon filter. Have the ducting going into the top of the tent and the fan/filter outside pulling the air out. Temp is 78, RH is 66% and VPD is .9. Right about where the chart says it should be. I watered till run off yesterday and ph is right in line too. Won't water again until the soil is dry and the pot is light.
1.29.2024: Nothing much doing today. Temp's holding steady at 77(f) and humidity is 65%. Soil is drying up but still moist in the area immediately around the root. Leaf(s) are getting bigger and i can see new formations coming but not too much in vertical growth. Steady as she goes.
1.30.2024: Temp and RH same as yesterday. Still have the lights on 24/0. Moved the light down to 20 inches from soil. Still at 50% power, 75 watts. Top soil is mostly dry but probing below surface there's still moisture. Perhaps i'll water tomorrow? Nervous about shifting lights to 18/6 as i'm not sure how that will affect tent conditions i.e. temp, RH and ventilation.
1.31.2024: Plant spent first "night' under 18/6 lighting. Temp help at 71 and RH dropped to 47% due to the humidifier being turned off. Watered with 4 cups at 6.5ph. Dropped light again to 18 inches from top of soil. Might go lower. I'll add pics soon.
2.1.2024: Steady as she goes.
2.2.2024: Steady again. Temp and RH holding at 77 & 62%. Light is 12 inches from soil at 50% power or 75 watts. Have my humidifier on a timer concurrent with the light.
When off, RH drops to 50%-47%. I monitor my inline fan speed from the app and look to adjust as needed. Tomorrow marks the start of week 3. Plant is still getting all nutes from original soil. Won't feed until they *start* showing signs of needing it. Perhaps i'll be more proactive as we get closer to week 4.
2.3.2024: More of the same. "Plants" are getting bushier. 2 Nodes with the 3rd coming through. Look healthy. Top soil is dry but a few millimeters below is still moist. Once the 3rd node fully develops i'm considering topping but we'll see. Definitely can tell the Crystal Meth has a different structure then the Emerald Fire OG. I'll add pics at some point today
2.4.2024: Watered 32oz at 6.3ph. No run off.
2.5.2024: No water today. Plant is still super moist. Temp hovers around 77-79 and RH has been struggling to stay at or above 60%, even with the humidifier on and the inline fan speed at 2. I've increased the humidity output with the goal of getting it to the 60%-65% range. Leaves are getting bigger and everything is nice and green but i'm surprised at the lack of vertical growth. Its only day 17 from seed so we've got time. Just raised the light to 14 inches from soil and increase power to 50%.
2.6.2024: Moving along nicely. Plant is a little stubby. Nodes are tightly spaced when compared to the Emerald Fire OG. Perhaps thats just the difference in genetics? Raised the light again to 16 inches from soil with the hope of inducing some vertical growth.
2.7.2024: No change to current state. Struggling for lower shoot development due to fan leaves blocking light access. I couldn't help myself so i clipped the single leaves on the bottom of the plant. Probably a big mistake but it'll be a learning lesson if it comes back to bite me. Not much change in vertical growth so i'm thinking about raising the light an inch or two to see if that will help them stretch. Watered 64oz of 6.3ph. Small bit of run off, ph also at 6.3.
2.8.2024: Day 20 from seed. At the moment, the very small haircut i gave the plant didn't seem to have any adverse affect. Lamp at 14 inches from top of the plant, still at 50% power(75watts). Fan leaves are nice and full but rather stubby without much outward growth so I can't really LST or even leaf tuck. There are 3 sets of shoots that i'm struggling to give ample light. Not sure when/if to increase power and/or change height.
2.9.2024: Day 21 from seed. End of week 3. Plant looks healthy but leaves aren't as flexible when compaired to prior days. Wouldn't say crispy or brittle, just a little firmer to the touch. No nutes given yet as the FFOF still has amendments the plant is using. First sign of sex showing too.
2.10.2024: Just moving along nicely one day at a time.
2.11.2025: Gave 32oz of water at 6.3ph. The plant is stocky and bushy. Due to the short stems and large fan leaves, the lower nodes aren't getting much direct light. I'm tempted to defoliate but a lot of seasoned vets say A) you shouldn't defoliate as a beginner and B) if the fan leaves act as "solar panels" i'm afraid that will stunt.
2.12.2024: Day 24. Steady as she goes. Temp at 74 and RH is 58%. First sign of white tips on new growth. After some research it could be the start of light stress/burn or something nutrient related OR it could be nothing and normal. I very much want to defoliate the two large fan leaves in between the 4th and 5th nodes as they are completely blocking the lower notes. Opted for tucking instead.
2.13.2024: Day 25 from seed. No change. Still have some white tips but only on the new top growth. Not much vertical growth still. Plant was dry today and felt light so i watered 64oz of 6.4.ph. Seems to be drinking faster now. Raised the light to 16 inches from top of the plant.
2.14.2024: Day 26. Moving along. No water, no light adjustment.
2.15.2024: Day 27 from seed. Plant is healthy for the most part. New growth on top have some white tips and i'm thinking its from light stress. Light is 18 inches from the top of the plant and still at 112 watts Few sets of large fan leaves are blocking the bud sites from light and its all over the place regarding development. I want to clip them but afraid it'll stunt.
2.16.2024: Day 28 from seed. End of week 4 from seed. Top 2 inches of soil were very dry and pot felt light so i gave it another 64oz of water at 6.3ph. 8 to 10oz of run off. Run off tested at 6.4ph, 2100ppm. Having temp challenges so i shut the humidifier off. Currently sitting at 75 with 47rh.
2.17.2024: Start of week 5, day 29 from seed, day 25 from sprout. Plant is healthy from what i can tell. Top of the plant's leaves all have slight white tips from what i'm assuming is light stress? Light is 16 inches from top of plant at 112 watts. I've let it pretty much do its thing so far. Branches are rather short making any sort of LST hard. Pistils are clearly visible so i'm assuming we're entering the flowering stage. Wouldn't be surprised to see the first signs of bud growth by the end of the week. Still no nutrients given. The fan leaves are large and blocking bud sites so perhaps i'll clip soon? Will upload pics today.
2.18.2024: Plant is responding well to the increase in light intensity. Still can't bring myself to take the large fan leaves off.
2.19.2024: Day 31 from seed. Plant is drinking more. Gave 64oz at 6.4ph. Run off ppm was 1450 at 6.6ph. Essentially 4 full weeks from seed before i need to start feeding. Next watering will contain nutrients.
2.20.2024: Humming along. Now firmly in the preflower/early flower stage. Growing 1/2 to 1 inch a day. If anyone is reading this, please tell me its ok to chop the big fan leaves blocking bud sites!
2.21.2024: Day 33 from seed, 29 from sprout. Picked up the pot this morning and it was very lite so i gave it another 64oz at 6.3ph. No run off this time which tells me they are starting to need more water or i need to up the frequency. Still no nutes in 33 days!
2.22.2024: Besides white tips on top growth, steady as she goes. I'll post a pic of the white tips. No idea how to solve. Plant is totally in flower but since we're almost at the end of week 5 from seed, i'll keep the diary in "flower." 14.5 inches from soil to top. Would love to see these get to 24 inches by the end.
2.23.2024: Upped water to 96oz at 6.4ph. About 2 cups of run off at 6.6ph and 1130ppm. Original soil still has nutes to offer at day 35 from seed.
2.24.2024: Start of week 5 from seed. Started to flower last week. Nothing done today. Still no nutes given, still scared to defoliate. Plant is 15.5 inches tall and looks healthy. Light is 11 inches from the top and at 75% power, 112 watts. I'm clearly no expert and i'm sure there's something i should be doing(feeding) but she's chugging along.
2.25.2024: Day 37 from seed. Watered 64oz at 6.3ph. Bud development is slower then her tent mate. Perhaps thats due to her bushy stature and foliage. Still seeing solid upward growth each day. Hopefully she turns on the jets this week. Still no auxillary nutes given. Finally worked up the nerve to take off 8 fan leaves. Really opened the plant up. Hopefully i don't pay the price!
2.26.2024: Day 38. Small bit of upward growth. No negative affects from the defoliation yesterday. Will feed tomorrow for the first time at 1/4 strength nutes from the fox farm trio and maybe some calmag.
2.27.2024: Day 39 from seed. Finally fed the plant, albeit small amounts. Foxfam trio at 1/4 strength of the week 5 doses plus calmag. 64oz of the solution at 6.5ph.
2.28.2024: Day 40 from seed, 36 from sprout. Nothing doing today. Maybe a 1/4 inch of upward growth? Stuck around 19.5 inches in total height. Light at 75% power 11inches from the top.
2.29.2024: Day 41. 96oz of ph 6.5ph. Upward growth has stalled at 19.75 inches. Added a few handfuls of Ocean Forrest as i noticed the soil level has compacted a bit. Will add pics later today once she perks up a bit.
3.1.2024: End of week 6, day 42 from seed. Small bit of upward growth, now up to 21 inches. Besides some lite defoliation, i've let the plant do its thing. Since its my first time i figured the only goal is just to get to harvest. Lots of learnings thus far. FFOF probably isn't ideal but its working. Some burnt leaf tips, probably some nitrogen toxicity, but otherwise we're doing well. Will definately look to LST more and sooner next time around.
3.2.2024: Start of week 7 from seed. Fed 1/4 fox farm trio nutes plus calmag. 64oz at 6.5ph. There's some clear nute burn on the leaf tips but she's doing well. Main cola is stacking nicely. Few random orange hairs here and there.
3.3.2024: Day 44 from seed. Steady as she goes. No change to current state.
3.4.2024: Watered 64oz at 6.5ph. Chugging along.
3.5.2024: Day 46. Buds are forming nicely. Clipped 8 fan leaves blocking bud sites.
3.6.2024: Day 47. Fed again at 1/4 strength probably around 3/4 gal at 6.5ph. Runoff is 6.49 at 1100ppm.
3.7.2024: Day 48. Nothing doing today. Main cola is stacking nicely, outer branches have some good but smaller buds. Long way to go but no idea how these will fatten up.
3.8.2024: Day 49, end of week 7 from seed. Watered 96oz at 6.38ph. Runoff ppm at 1050 with ph at 6.7. She appears to being doing great. Super stoked to see the bud development over the past week.
3.9.2024: Start of week 8. Day 50 from seed, 46 from sprout. Nothing doing today, plant is healthy and getting fatter by the day. Plucked a few leaves but thats it.
3.10.2024: Day 51. Fed 1/4 strength fox farm trio mixed w/ calmag into over a gal of 6.5ph water. Gave roughly 3 liters of the solution. Runoff ppm is finally under 1000. Might increase nutes to 1/2 strength moving forward. Bud development on the main cola is almost half the main stalk now. I'm no pro when it comes to taking pictures so its hard for me to get clear, detailed shots of the nugs.
3.11.2024: Day 52, 48 from sprout. Moving along nicely.
3.12.2024: Day 53. Fed 1/4 strength, roughly 96oz at 6.4ph. I broke the feed/water/feed schedule and fed twice in a row. Also did some lite defoliation on the bottom fan leaves that weren't getting light.
3.13.2024: Day 54 from seed. Plant is doing its thing.
3.14.2024: Day 55. Fed again at 1/4 strength, 96oz at 6.6ph. Runoff ppm was 880.
3.15.2024: Day 56 from seed, 52 from sprout.
3.16.2024: Start of week 9, day 57 from seed, 53 from sprout. Shes packing on the trichomes and stacking nicely. Not great with the camera but i tried to get some close ups of the buds as best i could. Some purpling of the top leaves and there's definitely nute burn but overall everything is going smoothly. Fed again at 1/4 strength, 96oz at 6.5ph, 350ppm.

3.18.2024: Day 59 from seed, 55 from sprout. 96 oz of 6.5ph. No nutes today. Been "hot" recently and the temp in the tent has been a few degrees higher. Droopy leaves this morning....
3.19.2024: Made it to day 60. She's packing it on every day. Got a loupe coming in the mail to check on the trichomes. With absolutely no prior experience or credibility, i'd say 2 weeks left?
3.20.2024: Watered 96oz at 6.5ph....no nutes today.

3.22.2024: End of week 9, day 63 from seed, 59 from sprout. Watered 96oz at 6.3ph....no nutes today. Main cola is gigantic. Fruity smell. I'm kinda surprised i'm this far along and the tent doesn't reek.. Not sure that's a grower error, the exaust fan doing its job or a genetics thing?
3.23.2024: Start of week 10. Day 60 from sprout. Moving along nicely. Did some defoliation to open everything up. Main cola is legit. One of the side branches is almost as big as the main cola. Bought a loupe and trichomes are just slight turning milky but only in a few spots. Some purpling but def not to the level of some of the other pheno's i've seen which is kinda a bummer.
3.24.2024: Day 61. Fed 1/4 strength nutes. 96oz of 6.5ph. Got stoned last night and did some more defoliation.
3.25.2024: Day 62. ZZZzzzZZzzz
3.26.2024: Day 63. 96oz at 6.5ph. Runoff ppm at 730.
3.27.2024: Da 64. ZZzzzZZz
3.28.2024: Day 65. just the tiger bloom and cal mag today at 1/4 strength. 96oz at 6.49ph.
3.29.2024: Day 66. End of week 9. Trichomes starting to get milky. Maybe 70/30?
3.30-4.1: Week 10. Days 67-69. Trichomes 50/50 clear/milky. A few random ambers. Leaves are fading but still feeding 1/4 strength. Maybe a week or 2?
4.2-4.5: days 70-73. Moving along nicely. Trich's more milky than clear. Stopped feeding and only water.
4.6-4.8: Days 74-76. Start of week 11. Home stretch. Will chop this week. No more nutes. Trichomes are 90/10 milky. Just letting her do her thing. Really great experience thus far for a first grow. Will update the week towards the end with final haircut.
4.9-4.11: 77-79. Losing steam with this diary! All good cause we're finally at the end. Will chop on Sunday which makes it 81 days from sprout. Gave the plant its last water on the 11th.
